Also, are we really surprised by how slow MC is at this point? He definitely gets it from his mother.
This seems like it's also done when it's convenient for the plot. Throughout most of the story the MC is shown to be very capable intellectually. In the beginning of the story, he consistently comes up with clever ways to test and train his powers. He's proven to be adept at thinking through situations, processing new information, and adjusting accordingly (to the point where Monster Deryl believed that he would only get one shot to defeat the MC, because if the MC was given any time to process he would come back with a strategy that would likely result in him defeating Deryl).

He's a respectable critical thinker for much of the story. That's until the writer needs to create intrigue and mystery, or prologue the reveal of plot points and lore. Then the MC becomes a dumbass who can't put two and two together until it gets spelled out for him later.

Hey everyone!!

After about a week of editing, I finally finished! I made 12 songs, each one inspired by one of the 12 Apostles (they were made with AI). It was a super fun project to work on, and while track 4 ended up being my personal favorite, each one of them has a little piece of me in it haha.

Here’s the playlist with all 12 tracks:

If you enjoy it, feel free to leave a like and drop a comment, I’m already thinking about making more songs like these for other characters in the future, but for now, enjoy these 12!

You won't get any disagreement out of me on the MC intelligence being selective at times. I also feel like he should pick up on certain things that are said or shown to him. Like MC hardly acknowledges that he was turned an Apostle, one of the gods. Even though several monsters have said it to his face. Like Aos, Valravn, Aglaecwif and Danu.

Like, was it really hard to put together that MC was turned by one of the gods? It's mentioned that there's 12 Gods and the monster that turned you is called the 4th, or 3rd? That didn't ring any bells? It's even weirder that Deryl didn't mention it earlier too, since he knows about the Apostle after being a monster. And I know it could just be chalked up to them discussing it off screen to explain it away.

Yeah. It's one of only a few problems I have with the writing. When it comes to his friends, training, fighting, H.E.R.O., etc.; the MC is as sharp as a whip. Everyone in the story, in positions of power (The Chosens, the higher ups at H.E.R.O., Langdon Wilson), all seem to be impressed with him. Yet he's conveniently dense/obtuse when it comes to obvious breadcrumbs that lead to deeper lore.

IMO, it comes off as a cheap way to take an already great story and stretch it/pad it by prolonging the reveal of important plot points. It ends up weighing the story down, because as a reader we have to wait for the MC to catch up.

What an incredible job, my brother.

I downloaded everything and converted it to mp3 and used an amplifier to increase the audio. For those who want it, here are the normal versions without amplifier and with amplifier.

It's scary how fast Mc learns and develops his skills, and although it's done very well, it also depends a lot on the player, which makes it perfect. We are the protagonist of this story, but at the same time we are not.

That said, Mc is a fucking idiot. With all the information we have so far, he still seems lost in the middle of the desert. Fuck, no way. I don't know if anyone has asked him before, but the next time Weird goes online, I'm going to ask him

Yes the literal mob boss is the girlfriend type.
I mean i think all of the girls are girlfirend material and will not cheat while in a relationship with you. Ironically the MC is the only serial cheater in the game lol.

But come on brother. In what world is Emily or Amber not better "girlfriend" types?
You're right about all the LI's being girlfriend material. I don't think anyone can reasonably argue against that. They all have a genuine devotion to, and appreciation for, the MC; which is the #1 quality of any potential GF (or BF).

IMO, Alice is a cut above everyone else do to the effort that she puts in. She can't cook, but she tries. She's admittedly out of her element when it comes to relationships, so she seeks out advise and guidance from friends (Tess) and magazines. When the two of them are on night watch duty in the cave in the Monster World, she encourages the MC to download his worries and burdens onto her. That he doesn't have to carry it alone. She feels its her duty as his GF to help him carry that emotional weight.

The fact that she's a literal mob boss makes her devotion to the MC feel that much grander than the other LI's. She has all the wealth and power she can handle, yet being a good GF to the MC matters to her. Him being pleased with her matters to her. Their relationship is something that she puts a great deal of thought and effort into.

Isn't it possible that the reason the mc doesn't pick up the breadcrumbs thrown at him is because he has a lazy side, and he's someone who doesn't have a go-getter attitude. Laziness isn't just about being a couch potato, it's a state of mind that makes a person disinclined to various activities or exertions.

Didn't the mc tell Doll Ella, when they were training transforming into a different form with every step, that he read some books about human evolution while researching his powers in the beginning, because he felt motivated that it might help keep him alive? You get that conversation when Ella asks you which led to human becoming the dominant species on their planet and you choose the body instead of intelligence option. The Mc is capable of critical thinking and deductive reasoning, but he may need to feel motivated to actually do so.

I think that instead of plot convenience, the reason the mc misses various breadcrumbs is because, unless he immediately or instinctually a piece of information is vital, or highly appeals to his interests, he will feel disinclined to put in the effort to connect the dots and come to hypothesizes and conclusions we as a reader have.

So, to summarize I believe this is a character flaw of the mc, like Deryl's arrogance, Jake's lack of confidence or Cole's stupidity.

i'd say cole's fundamental flaw is his hotheaded disposition and massive ego-the exact opposite of jake.

wait did 9999 actually add more story content too or just art changes and some lewd scenes? Like did it progress the story forward from 999?

I could use help understanding a concept, I'm really not following the whole "disposable forms" idea.

I'm assuming a "form" is basically MC creating a certain shape/body that has specific moves "pre-loaded" into them so he doesn't have to think about it?

What is the difference between "disposing" a form and just shapeshifting/regenerating that makes it so much more efficient? What does disposing even mean, like he can't turn back into that form anymore?

Ella was instructing the MC to not waste power and flesh repairing a transformation. And not to waste power and flesh over-enhancing any particular transformation. She was teaching him to use a bunch of throwaway transformations that he wouldn't need to over-think to use.

For example, he transforms into a lion, and only slightly enhances the lion. He would attack using the primal instincts of the lion (not him over-thinking as a human in a lion's body). When the lion transformation eventually got hurt, don't repair the lion, but instead transform into something else. The idea is to keep doing that to keep the opponent of balance, and to efficiently use power and save flesh.

She respects the MC's fighting skills as a human, and instructs him to use his more human form when he wants to strike with precision. The "disposable forms" technique is meant to be a compliment to that.

The forms aren't literally "disposable." The idea is for MC have a few animal forms that aren't necessarily as strong as his main ones, so that he can switch between them at a moments notice to confuse his enemy during battle. Ella calls the forms "disposable" because instead of using energy to heal these animal forms when they are destroyed, he just switches to a new form and keeps fighting. Remember, this is purely a body based concept, as its something that Ella herself does, no memories involved. They don't have moves pre loaded in them or anything, but they're simple to use and don't need as much skill compared to his human transformations, focusing more on physical might or speed. So yeah, not really disposing of anything, more just switching through them at a moments notice instead of sticking to one.

Okay, I get that concept, it's just that the way Ella was talking, it seemed like "disposing" a form was somehow literally more power-efficient than simply regenerating any injuries. If it's just a matter of keeping the opponent off-balance, that makes much more sense.

Thank you!

Ella and Mc are childhood friends. He promised to protect her, she gave him the means to protect her and guided him throughout the story and now even after her death. After she got her powers, she sought you out and chose you specifically.

Liz is literally fighting through her mental blocks, depression, emotionlessness, and general lack of self worth because you want to be with her and fought for her. Both Amber and Liz wanted to become superheros because they were worried your connections with them were a burdon. They trained profusely with Micheal because of it. Amber despite having literal PTSD after what Tanos did and emotional distress over losing her sister, still remembers to celebrate your birthday.

Alice will have more of these moments just because she was the first to be part of the story. And she has her own moments as you pointed out. The rest not so much, as they still aren't really part of the main group. But im sure we they will get just as much time in the sequel.

Like its fine to prefer Alice over the others, but to say she's objectively willing to put in more effort is wrong for Liz, Amber and Ella imo. And the rest of the LI's just don't have enough screentime for us to know.
