Been wondering what Baal has been doing, since I don't Patreon him any long I missed out on the notifications, but at least he is active on Hypnopics Collective. Looks like he is going to start alternating characters and game.
Every other update I add in more mechanics to the game. If all I did was make characters, I'd finish the school quicker, but probably also be slightly crazy from all that time rendering images. 0.13.00 has more game mechanics. 0.14.00 will add Sandra. 0.15.00 will add in more mechanics. 0.16.00 will add in Denise. 0.17.00 will add in more game mechanics. 0.18.00 will add in Mary.

Probably the complexity in keeping all the current and new girls working within the mechanics he set up in the game. Considering how large, and big, the original Rags game was this is not surprising. Adding more content and events to the current system, as well as expanding on the Initiative and Logistics, is sure to be bug ridden if he doesn't take time to focus on that from time to time.

Way way back he said he was gonna buy some 10k rendering station to allow him to render a characters scenes quicker. I had hoped he would focus more adding features after he got that. I don't really keep track of him anymore so maybe he decided he didn't want to actually spend 10,000 dollars.
Edit: I found it under his $4,750 goal. "Accelerated Workstation Budget: I estimate at our current rate of saving I'll have enough money put aside to buy this $10K workstation by next March or April. The faster I can inflate the amount I put aside for this machine, the sooner I get to this level of render speed"

The game itself is good, but it's a real shame that the resolution is so low. If he did get a new machine capable of faster processing, then hopefully if he makes Superpowered2, it will have widescreen support and less fuzz. If he still has all the poses saved, it wouldn't take much to redo the scenes in higher detail with a new machine, but it would bring development progress to a standstill while it is all updated. However, as long as the gameplay is engaging, then the image quality is minor issue.

gameplay wise I find this game really really grindy early on and WAY too reliant on random luck to pull events

Well we all hate those random event scenes when we really want to see all the content, especially when there isn't a lot of it. Most of the standard content is pretty much a repeat of the day before, and as you say, grinding your way to it. However, if it wasn't for the game hiding content behind a grind, there would be far less of it, and I doubt it would be this popular.

There was quite a bit of grind in the RAGS version but there was actual stories to follow as you went through getting the girls. The problem is he has been recreating the school forever, which is merely a side activity of the RAGS game. There are practically no mechanics or story atm making it a pure grind to bang and corrupt each girl. Its just a guy developing guy with superpowers to give the D to his mom, classmates and principle. Instead of a dude trying to become a hero/villain making a name for himself and taking what he pleases. So its pretty tedious to play at the moment imo.

Definitely lacking story, but I guess it's a matter of what gets worked on first, the gameplay, the renders or the story. I never played the RAGS version, although I've seen what it looks like. The Ren'Py version is definitely a lot more ambitious. I assume it's going to be a remake, rather than a sequel?

Yeah, the Renpy game is basically a remake without the RAGS engine cause he said it was rather limiting. There are also rendered images instead of pictures of random pornstars taken off the internet. The story was more fleshed out in the Renpy version but very much incomplete and open ended. It was more multiple stories than a main plotline. The lack of story and mechanics is partially the patreons faults for voting for a full implementation of the school before other content was to be worked on. However, I'm sure none of them realized it would take more than half a year to complete the school :noexpression:.

A lot of people don't realise how long it takes to render a single image, and they definitely have no idea how long it takes one person to make a game.

Baal always did those character drawing streams too, following this after playing the RAGS version I was excited about seeing where he was going with it. Though part of my current gripe is that he HAS spent about half a year doing the school. I forget if he is working outside of doing this, and part of my dropping him was the amount of time between updates with significant content and what was done - which is an overall percentage of the whole. Knowing what was in the RAGS game, and what is implemented now, its going to be a long time until this is done. I give Baal credit, its good for what it is, I just expected a bit more done by this point.
