Since Baal7734 appears to be active here, allow me to include another bug report.
Unstable Transformations from Polymorphism are currently inaccessible due to a set of errors in screen_combat.rpy:832, 865, and 898:
Code:
if combat_menu == "KSIS" and player.power_PER >= 1:
These if statements should be elif instead; currently, they overwrite the Unstable Transformations' buttons displayed in the preceding if statements.
A quick search of this thread shows this bug's been around since
July.
Amusingly, I only discovered the bug because I was digging around to bypass the checks that stop players from cheating to access all the transformations from Polymorphism. I understand the allure of enforcing authorial intent and meaningful choice, but in a game with this much grind, locking content away and requiring additional playthroughs feels disrespectful of the player's time. To see all Polymorphism content would require four playthroughs (one for each of three forms, one more for Monster Cock and Gender Quick Shift). An option to reset the Polymorphism perks for a mild cost would be much friendlier.
Speaking of grind, the grinding required in this game is preposterous, and this is coming from a guy who's quite tolerant of grind -- I cut my teeth on old JRPGs after all. Personally, I think it feels so bad in this particular game because there's not enough sense of progression. Upgrading Enhanced Senses quickly leads to nudity but it takes a LOOOOONG time to get anything else after that. Requiring two different currencies to buy powers (money, and influence for resistance) makes things even worse because even after grinding up enough of the first currency, there's still only more grinding for the second currency to look forward to. And when you finally manage to buy a new power, it turns out that, before level three, most are prohibitively expensive to use or just not very good, so you get to look forward to grinding up even more money. In the end, it feel like each grind leads directly to the start of another with no reward (it's a porn game, the reward is porn) in sight.
Even JRPGs have acknowledged that grind is not a popular game mechanic; look at the FF8 remaster for instance, you can straight up play at triple speed to alleviate the grind. I hope you'll see fit to cut down the grind in your game as well. Or don't, it's your game to do with as you please, and if I'm any example, the tedium driving people to cheat basically gets you free QA.
