Update 0.18.7 Public

Hello guys,

I am excited to share the 0.18.7 Public with you.

This update brings a some new features and content that will surely make the experience even more enjoyable, but it is more for the OpenWorl players.

First off, we have the first sidequest for Jane, which adds a whole new layer of depth to her character and allows us to delve deeper into her story. I won't spoil too much, but let's just say that it's definitely worth checking out and unlocks a fetsih.

In addition, the update also introduces a new videoplayer that lets you watch the videos in a better way. This is a great addition for those who like to immerse themselves in the game world and don't want to break the flow like the old player with the menus, the part with serah in the begining still has the old play style this will be updated in the next updates.

The update also brings three new locations to explore, This adds even more variety to the game.

Another addition are the first talinkpoints with Victoria. It's a great way to deepen your relationship with her and learn more about her past. More will come in the next Update.

Last but not least, we have a new side event with Mel. Again, I won't give too much away. ;D

Overall, this new update was more work behind the scene but it lays the groundwork for the next updates to come.

The next Update will be Vic´s first story Part +some sideevents.

Thank you for your continued support, and happy gaming!

0.18.8
And here's a sneak peek of Vics' first part on the 0.18.8 update, less of Vic's pics to avoid spoiling too much for you ;)
I would estimate that the 0.18.8 update is about 75% complete.

An opacity option for the text box would be great too!

Everything else is looking good.

Currently, I'm working on implementing the ability to toggle the text boxes on and off. However, since I'm not a programmer, it might take me a bit longer to find a solution.

I remember there was a py file somewhere that turned the box transparent.
I think if you search "transparent text box" it will show.
It is old, about the time ICSTOR was putting something out.

Programming being iterative and literally built on someone else's code, you might try just reaching out to a modder or dev here who's doing the thing you're trying to pull off and ask if they'll either show you or give you the code you need.

As a software engineer it I had to do everything from scratch nothing would ever happen. Instead of reinventing the wheel ask if you can borrow someone else's.

Yes, it's y_outline.rpy. I tried it with this game but it's not working. Use it with other games successfully though not always.

I've attached the file.

Since I have so much custom code in my game, it's not always easy to borrow from others. The code for the open world and the day and night system is not mine.

While coding, I'm experiencing my age for the first time in my life. It's not as easy for me to learn as it used to be, but now that I have my graphics at the level I wanted, I'm focusing more on learning coding. And I think you can see it in my game that it's getting better with each update.

Noticed something else. If you talk to Victoria on Sunday morning, she doesn't show up in the garden Sunday afternoon as per her calendar schedule. Is that intentional?

Does anyone know if Libby will do stuff with another girl and if so can it be avoided.
I thought I would ask because I am not really a fan of seeing love interests with other people (well usually anyway)

Edit - Never mind I think I will still play it even if she is with another girl :)
wat made u change your mind?

I was interested in trying this game (I was waiting on the TW mod, which is still outdated) but, hearing others talk about it is giving me pause and I feel like adding my voice to some opinions.

Sandbox games aren't actually immersive. When it comes down to actually playing the game, the sandbox elements don't actually add anything to the experience, rather they only end up being a waste of time. Whether your focus is telling a story or making great porn, clicking around mindlessly and finding empty environments and just being lost doesn't add anything to either of those. And its waste of time for players while also draining a huge amount of development hours, that doesn't go towards actually telling the story.

The only sandbox games I've played that are actually enjoyable are ones where all the events were, at most, 2 clicks away from the hub area and where it was obvious relatively little time had been spent making entirely pointless environments that weren't used for anything meaningful anyway. My go-to example would be V.I.R.T.U.E.S.

The rendering and characters are great.
But I've seen too many games that start off with a lot of cool elements like this,
Eventually lose direction and are abandoned.
If you are greedy, you may miss the point, so it may be better to be faithful to VN itself.
(Personally, foot fetish is always welcome  )

Sandbox modes are bad when it's pretty empty, multiple time slots that have nothing to do and no one around, no hints on what to do next other than a calendar, no random and like one repeatable event, when there's only one or two times out of the 7 days with 4 cycles to interact with a certain character(got the camera and had to skip 6 days to talk to victoria on saturday cause she's not around the house for other than 3 time slots on 2 days in the entire week for some reason!). Game has been out for 2 years and little in content, a rework already happened, and systems still being added, think it's time to focus on content....

It's possible that I might be misremembering (I'm out of town and mostly unavailable until June 1), but IIRC it's Saturday afternoon and Sunday morning that she's in the backyard / lounge area. So if you talk to her Sunday morning, she doesn't show up there again until Saturday afternoon, about 6 days later. But since I don't have time to look to see for sure, I could be wrong.

Oh, so much this. I restarted a new game and got through the prologue, suddenly nothing. I went through the libby & sarah scene though the laptop but I have absolutely no clue what to do in Sandbox mode. No one in the house, no indication of where I should go, the only external option was Joey's Cafe, where there's someone at the cafe, but clicking on them does nothing. Talking to Jane is less than useful.

So... WTF, nothing lets me know what to do/where to go, from the folders available there's plenty of content available, I just have absolutely no clue how to get to it. Maybe once the walkthrough is updated it'll add some hints on where to go, but without the walk through adding something, this game is currently useless.

Yeah you need to talk to Libby on mon wed or fri, you can then go talk to jane in the office. Jane will tell you that she can't see you in the office unless Libby is working the front(mon wed fri) otherwise she's out there herself on tues/thur.
