I have reported it and asked to add the missing tags

Sorry that these are not yet there and so some people have wasted their time I try to do better in the future.

However, I would be very interested to know what most people don't like about sandbox? to avoid any mistakes here

It should be here as already often described not to stretch time!

I use it to have a separate story line for each character.

And e.g. to approach a char in lets say the living room and have different sex options without then playing story
They are often pointless and add nothing to the story. Clicking through pictures of empty rooms to get to the next scene is anoying as fuck. At worst sandboxes require stat grinding on top of that. IMHO 99% of games would be better as a linear VN.

I too have to chime in with my dislike of sandboxes. It seems all well and good to add "different" content depending on the time and place, but that's actually just a waste of time. All that content can be put into the storyline and continue going, and all sandboxing really adds is a time waste grind, even if the grind is seeing a certain sexual situation, that is what a replay gallery is for. Every sandbox I have tried seems to miss out on several key elements of life, so it might as well not bother. A for instance is a non-sexual date that lasts for dinner, that's going to be over in at most a couple hours, and that couple hours takes a whole "evening" which is just silly. I don't know about anyone else, but in an evening, I am able to read a few chapters of a novel, play a game, feed my cat, have a shower, and do some chores around the house, and that is on a slow day. The other trope that they tend to get bogged down by, is that a guy in sexual encounter at a youngish age of 19-25 going once, then being dead for the whole "afternoon" section, yeah at that age males are at their sexual peak and tend to keep going for hours, and sandboxing one scene is a waste of time for that. Those time/place constraints are actually worse on a story than to just tell it and add all the content in.
On a technical note, sandbox games means clicking a mouse repeatedly, and I don't know about others, but I try to use my keyboard more than my mouse because damage to my hands. All that clicking wears out my rather expensive mouse (50 USD) for not enough content. I go to VN's for a good story, and sandboxes lose story for time wasted.

It's a little hard to explain. For me, it just doesn't add any value to the game. On the contrary, the freeroam/sandbox elements rip me out of the story and interrupt the "flow" of the game.

I'm also not a fan of repeating scenes. Once I've seen one, I don't necessarily want to repeat it over and over again. For me sandbox games also always have that kind of "grinding feeling" (an absolute no-go) for me. Although that's obviously not the case here.

Anyway, it's your game and if that's how you want to do it, so be it. There are still players who love this kind of game.

  • The girls are now during the week in different places in the house to bring a little more life into the game (Only Libbys Story can be played)
So the game got free roamed/sandboxed?

Good to know, so I can ignore it in the future.

I know why devs do that - and no, not to add anything to their game (99% of the time) - its way easier to stretch the playtime and add the illusion of content. You dont need that much new renders and writing when you can spread it thin in your game.

There are maybe a hand full of games, that have free roam which just adds some more gameplay to them, without annoying the player (to much ^^). But all the other games with repeating events, time skipping and so on are just doing it to bloat up their games to hide the lack of content.

So gl hf.

I agree with you
except the thing with the mouse, I have played 10 years excessively egoshooter games and never had a broken mouse but I think that was meant more as a joke :)

The main point for me for the sandbox is that I can work on different storylines. This is my first game apart from the fact that I don't plan to make another one anytime soon aand the feedback after this update was rather bad

I leave myself so the freedom open that I am not bound to an exact course in many VN it is a strict point A to point B of course there is sometimes a detour to C but usually stands at the end only B.1 or B.2 or B.3 or B.4

I can say for myself hey the next 4 weeks I'm now working on Vic's storyline or hey to Jane I've thought of something great that I still want to bring in.

There will be no money making here or run to point D and buy cat food if I have to have something then I build it into the story see Libby's outfit shopping.

I stand here still at the beginning of a yes I know very big project maybe in some things too big but that will turn out. And I think with the quality of my renders I show that I have great intentions and also a lot of Heart and soul put into it.

And maybe the one or the other sandbox hater has even fun in the end :)

Greetings Phil

I'm not a fan of freeroam/sandbox either. Some reasons have already been mentioned such as tearing out of the game and repeating the same static images over and over again like the rooms in the house. Also the random guessing, when which person is in what room at which time, I find honestly rather boring and annoying pretty quickly. Therefore, other games of this type then very soon implement a "tips/hints" system to reduce this.

Well, this is of course only my personal opinion. And if that's what you want to do, then it's always better to go through with it. To please everyone does not work anyway. Hope you have success with it, good luck.

Was going pretty well until the sandbox started. There are 2 kinds of sandbox games and this is the worse one, having to randomly click around with no direction, no indication on what is actually an area to explore without randomly highlighting it.

Sorry the game was good until then, after I moved around the house a bit, clicked on the only person i could find which was a dead end and couldn't find anything else instantly closed the game.

Renders are good, but sandbox is just shit.

SL-DEV-Phil I won't rip into you for sandbox/free roam.

What I will say is you can still work the individual stories in a linear VN. Most of us here like to be immersed, just give the characters thier own "lives'.
For instance, Libby is in college, well chances are in the morning thats where she is meaning story with mel chap. 1 morning, afternoon would be Libby Chap.1, evening Victoria. Meaning you have more content in one release than a single character story and an empty house with character clicks that lead nowhere except frustration on the players part.

That jump into this sandbox triggered me tbh. Poorly designed too if i might add; nothing more infuriating that navigation mess without hints or directions in a sandbox That's gonna be a hard pass for me.

Wow, I'm really overwhelmed by how much negativity is flying at me today just because I'm making a sandbox game.

And the best thing I find is that it's mainly about what I actually find so great about sandbox.

I am the player who invests over 100 hours in Mass Effect to discover every story and I'm happy every time I discover a new corner where there is still something to experience.
This is the kind of experience I am trying to create here and I think it will get better with each update as there will be more and more content.

Not putting a big red arrow on the door saying "this way" is an important part of what I'm doing here I'm trying to keep the GUI as small as possible and that's exactly why I don't want the freerooming mode to look like a Casiono app.

I understand everyone who doesn't like this and I don't force anyone to download this for free the right tags are there now and I apologize to anyone who downloaded this before the tags were there.

I will also stay with the freeroom mode, I have read the arguments against it and will try not to make a grindgame out of this.

But I'm not going to go on about how my game sucks ONLY because it's sandbox.

Anyway to all the people who like it and give me feedback for improvement thank you and also all the new support on itch.io and Patreon.

Edit:

Gleemer

wow thats cool can i upload that on my Patreon and itch.io ?

greetings
Phil

Does it seem to anyone else that a large percentage of porn game developers wish they had lost their parents in car crashes? Lol

This could be a great game that more than likely will be utterly ruined by the needless sandbox.

The dev clearly has skills at rendering and has a good basis for a story, but please for the love of god and all that is holy get rid of the sandbox

I usually avoid sandbox games but this really wasn't bad. As long as there is some sort of hint as to what I'm supposed to do next. This was more like a VN with a little sandbox thrown in rather than the other way around.
