We finally got clearance from Itch for more hosting space, the new art pack should be up by tonight! ;)

ToLLA is a work in progress, give it time. And the item system is fine, it's standard WRPG stuff.

Honestly, I think only a minority of people take the time to read these threads. Hence always the same questions.

Everything you listed there is a feature, not a bug. We're building the game as a sandbox - you're supposed to explore without knowing what to do or expect. That's half the fun! And Meredith tells you as much during the intro talk... just like she says to go visit the main gate, or to roam around talking to people and harvesting resources for the reconstruction effort. Even one of the tutorials mentions clearing the map and seeing what's left if you don't know how to proceed. We can't help you play the game if you're going to ignore what it's telling you.

Game is supposed to be played in fullscreen for the best experience, but the fact you can window it doesn't mean it's 100% bug-free or supported. And just for the record, it works fine on our test machines, but the list you quoted from is there to help people who are running into crashes. You're facepalming after quoting a single snippet entirely out of context, like it's somehow our fault that a small percentage of players can't use a bonus/unsupported feature. Also, the released build is for Windows - no idea why you're running it on Linux, but that's probably why you don't have any sound.

Sandbox or not, this is a porn website and threads quickly devolve into asking for walkthrough as the game/relationships get more complex. Nobody will write stuff down IRL and nobody will remember such a massive info dump in one go. Having a diary in-game prevents or at least slightly mitigates that that. Having a dick in hand doesn't help either and neither does a action circle every 3cm of screen.
There is a good reason all good sandboxes (from gameplay point of view) like Summertime Saga restrict areas + start narratives in the beginning instead of just throwing you into the world after some fun and easily digestible sex scene with choice selections,
And I'm an uploader, I've seen and played through more games than I can count

The main problem here is that you're approaching the game's content like it's mandatory, when over 90% of it is optional, and is there to let you shake things up instead of plowing through it like a lawnmower. ToLLA is a western RPG at its core, with the lewd layer draped on top of that - it's not supposed to be played with a walkthrough in hand like a visual novel, where you go from point A to point B clearing everything in one go while moving along a pre-determined/optimal route. You're supposed to fail certain quests from time to time, botch difficulty checks (like falling to your death from the western Watchtower), make mistakes during diplomacy/persuasion, piss off NPCs and get into avoidable fights, lose battles, miss out on treasure, etc.

Also, 'infodumps' are usually classified as information the game dumps on you without giving you a chance to get away or choose when/how you want to consume the content... which is the exact opposite of what's in ToLLA, since all the info is scattered around the area (tutorials, NPC barks/popups, dialogue & conversations), and you have plenty of ways to shorten or completely avoid it. Not to mention that all of it is left for you, as the Player, to activate when you want! The only unavoidable 'infodump' is Meredith's initial talk inside the cabin (before the lewd CYOA), and even that lets you skip ahead and end it quickly if you wish! So I'm sorry, but you're factually incorrect, and you're misusing terms.

Having a diary in-game prevents or at least slightly mitigates that that.
I don't know why I have to keep explaining to everyone that we have a limited amount of time and (wo)manpower on the team, and that all the features you think you're so brilliantly bringing to our attention have already been thought of, written down, designed, and added to our 500+ page design doc almost 2 years ago before we even started pre-production on the game. Do you honestly think it's never crossed our minds that a game with multiple quests needs a progress journal? You think we're developing an RPG without some kind of questlog? Really? You're preaching to the choir, my friend! The reason many systems aren't in there is because we haven't implemented them yet, not because we haven't thought of them! You can say the writing is too long, or the game loop isn't interesting, or you don't like the lewds/art/whatever -- and all of those are valid critiques -- but talking about features which we haven't had time to implement is just silly.

Having a dick in hand doesn't help either and neither does a action circle every 3cm of screen.
Then don't click on all of them. Or don't jerk off while playing. Or clear the map, then go wank. The interaction icons are an abstraction layer that lets you interact with the game world - their purpose is to add mechanics and elements that otherwise wouldn't be possible due to engine limitations. So you're basically asking us to neuter an entire layer of gameplay just to cater to your playstyle. You want 100% lewd content? There's about a billion games here on F95 that allow you to do that, most being linear VNs. Ours isn't one of them; ToLLA is a game with porn, not a porn game. If you don't like actual gameplay in your lewd games then that's fine, more power to you, but our game is supposed to be game-y... with porn as a reward for progressing through the content. It says as much right on the tin: "ToLLA is a fully-illustrated erotic fantasy RPG where you play as Captain Hale..."

There is a good reason all good sandboxes (from gameplay point of view) like Summertime Saga restrict areas + start narratives in the beginning instead of just throwing you into the world after some fun and easily digestible sex scene with choice selections,
Summertime Saga isn't a sandbox game, despite how much that term is bastardized by its fanbase and thrown around here willy-nilly. Sandbox games have free-roam mechanics, whereas Summertime Saga has you moving between preset locations (most of which are enclosed spaces). Skyrim is a sandbox game. So is Fallout. So is Elden Ring. And Kenshi. And Sierra Lee's The Last Sovereign, if you want an adult game as an example. So is ToLLA (or at least will be, when we add more maps). Summertime Saga isn't - it's a visual novel, with static location-hopping via teleport. You don't even have a controllable avatar, which is IMHO the basic requirement for having sandbox gameplay. And no, pixel-hunting for interactable objects inside a closed area doesn't make it a sandbox... if anything, it should be classified as a point-and-click adventure game with a heavy narrative over-layer.

And I'm an uploader, I've seen and played through more games than I can count
And I've eaten more pastries than I can count... still doesn't make me a master chef. ;)

So I've finally got out of the cabin after the sex scene and the initial talk with Meredith. Can we still not save our game? I think the game said so but I'm not sure. I don't think I wanna continue just yet if I have to start all over everytime I launch the game.

Maybe just wait for the next update then, if you haven't gotten far yet. Saving is coming in the next patch.

That's good to know. Guess I'll check back when the next update comes out. So far it has been pretty interesting I have to say. But it really is quite text-heavy as marketed... that's usually not exactly my cup of tea as it gets a little exhausting after a while but it's still nice that you guys create a game that you wanna make.

Or don't jerk off while playing.
Not being a jerk...but so go play normal games and not porn ones? The purpose of an porn game (or like you said game with porn) is doing both and having fun in both. If i want to do one thing after the other i go play my normal games on steam and after go to pornhub for a wank.

People are free to play whatever they like... just as we're free to develop whatever we like.

Fair enough, no one's stopping you from spending your personal time in whichever way you choose. But recent comments here seem to be full of 'ideas' on how to turn ToLLA into something it's not. Like I said before, we're making a text-heavy erotic RPG with a dedicated mechanical layer (exploration, looting, branching dialogue, and later on combat) - someone who dislikes that can just, you know, not play it? There's plenty of other games to enjoy on this site! ;)

And i complete respect your decision, in the end is your game, but one thing that i always see some developers ignore is good criticism, will have some people that dislike the way that you are doing your game, but will have some that will probably share some good ideas, i'm not saying that you should change what you think is right for your game, but is always good to think "what i should do to make this game better", in anything there is always room to improve. There is plenty of games to enjoy here and i complete agree with you, but remember, even if we are a pirate site, there is a lot of people here, if even less than 1% of people here think that "hey, this game is good, let's look at his patreon" that could give you an good amount of money, and let's say that if money is not something that you need, they can also give you good ideas. Don't change what you believe is right, just always try to keep an open mind for good criticism.

ok i know you guys have limited resources but you really really should put your self in the players shoes a little, like in the beginning when you are asked to bring back 100 resources notes from some where. I don't even know where to go. please i want to do that quest but there is too much in the game, just point the player in the right direction it helps alot. i have played 20 h of this game and i still don't know where i am suppose to go to collect the resources notes so please i want be able to do it, just give us a little bit more instruction on how to do it.

and remember some of us may well well be retards with 10 iq, but we can still be your customers. And at the end of the day there are far more un dumb people on earth than there are smart people.

Sure, I agree. And I've talked to people from F95 via DMs, they've given us great feedback about this latest release... And our patrons have sent in a bunch of messages and suggestions as well. But you have to understand that constructive criticism is one thing, and pointless nitpicking is another. Like if a player says that the resource node layout is too dense, or that dialogues are a bit long, then we can tweak those things (both are actual feedback we've received from players). On the other hand, asking for full features like inventory management or quest journals isn't feedback, it's unrealistic demands - it doesn't help us in any way (we already know those things need to be added, and have plans to do so). The game is still relatively early in its development, and many, many features will be added in the coming months as we continue to work on it... some of y'all just need a bit of patience. ;)

Yeah I understand what you're saying. But as developers, we can only try to make the best game we can -- that we ourselves would want to play -- and hope it works out. Trying to time the market or make huge changes to the game's design through development is the best way to kill a project. Just look how many games end up abandoned because devs tried to chase the money, and ended up failing, or burning out. I think it's better to stick to our vision (with maybe some slight tweaks and changes along the way), than try to make a clone of whatever is currently dominating the marketplace.

like in the beginning when you are asked to bring back 100 resources notes from some where. I don't even know where to go. please i want to do that quest but there is too much in the game, just point the player in the right direction it helps alot.
I mean, you're told by Yarvin at the Gate to go harvest resources from around the area. Meredith says the same. And the tutorials then repeat it again (you did read the tutorials, right?). There's only 1 map in the game currently, so it's not like you have much of a choice where to go - just harvest 100 nodes there, and hand them in at the Gate. That's the main quest for this release (and the story ends there for the time being).
i have played 20 h of this game and i still don't know where i am suppose to go to collect the resources notes so please i want be able to do it, just give us a little bit more instruction on how to do it.
How the heck did you manage to squeeze 20 hours of gameplay from this release?
There's like 8 hours of content there, tops! But hey, I'm glad you got so much entertainment from it. ;)(y)
and remember some of us may well well be retards with 10 iq, but we can still be your customers. And at the end of the day there are far more un dumb people on earth than there are smart people.
:ROFLMAO: :ROFLMAO: :ROFLMAO: I don't think you're dumb, I just think many of you are used to playing visual novels where you can skip a lot of the text, and still keep playing because those games are built with that in mind. But ToLLA is a Western RPG, skipping over dialogue means missing out on vital information (like where to go and what to do). That's not something we can help you with. Even skimming the text quickly is a bad idea because a lot of the game's lore and world history are buried in there, in between character interactions. You can't really play an RPG like you'd play a Visual Novel, it just doesn't work.

Though I do agree that having a questlog would be very helpful to recap the most important bits, and tell you what you're supposed to be doing and where. I'll see about maybe bumping it up on our priority list (gotta talk to the rest of the team this weekend). Right now we're focused on adding saving, and the rest of the lewd scenes. The art team is also working on a new map, we'll see if we can squeeze that into the next release.

to be honest the 20h is mostly because there no save feature and i had to restart several times and then run in to one of the LONG NPC talks and had to exit the game and come back another time.

This is really promising.

Could you please explain a bit more about the planned transformation? Any chance we could get to have a gender morph MC for a while, and maybe gender transform some men?

Next time you play (after we update the game again) remember that you can hold PageDown on your keyboard to zip through the text blocks at a rapid rate. It's useful if you want to quickly finish plot-critical dialogues that you couldn't otherwise skip, like the talk at the main gate (I use it all the time when testing conversations with NPCs).

Which ones exactly? The human-to-anthro, or something else?

We actually wanted to have a female MC as well as a male one, and let the Player pick, but it would effectively double the art workload and it's just not feasible at this time (since all the lewd scenes are 2D, and have to be painted by hand).
and maybe gender transform some men?

Particularly gender transformation and muscle loss/height decrease! Say, a dominant and strong man becomes a weak and submissive woman, or an amazon woman is reduced to a weak and submissive body?

I was mentioning more about the MC taking a potion or a spell and voluntarily or involuntarily becoming a woman for shenanigans

you can't please every one. i do find strangely satisfying in this game, to hit a node or something like that, and getting a bunch of lines of loot ... will the nodes respawn later ? (would certainly extend the game life time.

probably was suggested 100 times, but maybe there should be a button to hide / show the game keys help info.

Probably not. The game is supposed to be a power fantasy, so watching your muscle-bound MC being turned into a weakling doesn't really fit with that. And muscle-amazons are needed for femdom scenes that we plan to add, so we can't depower them either. There's gonna be some potion-play later on (like reducing your MC's size to have sex with smaller NPCs like faeries, or to pleasure a normal woman like she were a giantess), but I don't think we'll ever sissify the MC. But if you're into submission you'll be able to beat strong and powerful women in combat later on (she-orcs, drowesses, etc.), then have sex with them and pick maledom options. That's the only instance I can think of that's even remotely close to your suggestion.

You know, that's actually a really neat idea! Maybe doing a quest where the MC can quaff a potion or be put under a spell to turn into a female for a short time, and sleep with another girl (or dickgirl)... Tho this always has to be voluntary, Player choice is one of our design pillars and all sex content has to be approved/accepted by the Player - we'll never force anything on players. But I'll add the general idea to our design doc, I may write a quest or encounter for it in the future. ;)
Now that got me looking forward to it :D
I'm not gonna spoil the plot too much, but I can say that the MC will obtain a girdle of gender-bender later on, and can use it on particularly annoying/powerful male bosses to turn them into girls and add them to his harem. Tho like with everything else this will also be voluntary (or you can just kill them after beating them in combat, and be done with it).

will the nodes respawn later ? (would certainly extend the game life time.
Yeah, most of the nodes respawn after you go to sleep in one of the beds. And they'll also respawn later on when we add the World Map and you enter/exit areas from it.
probably was suggested 100 times, but maybe there should be a button to hide / show the game keys help info.
Good idea! I'll talk to the team about it.

Nope, none as of yet.
i was gonna look through the cg rip but its ded
I didn't upload that, a particularly angry player did. Open it at your own risk.

EDIT/UPDATE: Here's some new area art from the upcoming map we're working on!

Yes, it'll help you pass special DCs later on in convos and events.
and is there magic path for mc?
I'd personally love to see a magic path for the MC, but I don't know if we'll have the budget and time for it. We'll see when we get around to implementing the character creation screen and attribute distribution. Our scripter designed and wrote out all the magic sub-classes (mage, warlock, inquisitor, etc.) but it depends on how much workload it'll be for the art team.
