nvm, it's not valid :(
Uh well the closet thing to an "official" discord would be this:
Just keep in mind while the dev does frequent it and shares drawings and stuff, it's mainly run by fans. Just so you and others are aware the dev does a ton of drawing streams, like almost daily, but don't expect them to be about the game those streams are like he puts them "stream art requests". Don't confuse it with comissions, I kinda stop following this game a few months back so I can't say what's done exactly but I remember he wanting to make an update by summer of NEXT year.

The streams are not exclusively request streams btw, that's just been the current flavor of the month recently. Before that there was usually voting on a few place in TU and the most voted spot would be touched up on the map and he'd draw the environment there along with some characters/creatures for the place. Been a while since the last time though. Kinda miss it by now, it's neat.
Also it's not always request streams either, it depends on what md's feeling for i guess.

And yeah, md wanted to have the game ready for playtesting/bugfinding/fixing by summer/fall, no idea if that's went through or not yet though.

Uh I never said they were exclusively request, just most of it was and apparently still is. The whole "voting" thing was more presented as a request thing, at least that's how it was referred to

Why do the good games die young?!
The 1.0 version has been released on January 29th 2018. And it was in development since 2013. Most games with a porn element die even without hitting their first or second year (I'm talking about western games). I doubt I would have called this game young or digging it's grave yet. But answering your question, the most common reason is that developers are losing their motivation to continue, which is not the case for Meandraco yet.

I think the Abandoned tag is justified. Doesn't matter if the game is free or not, it's been 3 years since the last update.

Honestly, the dev is coasting on people's good will and expecting them to take his word for it when he says he's "working on it". It may be so but without concrete evidence, he could claim to be the prince of Saturn for all we know... IMO pictures alone do not quantify as "evidence", not when it has become a repeated excuse over the years. He's an artist, it's not difficult to make some fancy pictures and call it "progress" just to keep people stringed.

Any other game under the same circumstances and people would roast the dev alive, but since Teraurge is pretty niche and unique, they are willing to tolerate anything just because there's no alternative to look forward to. It has become a bit of a sunk cost fallacy; people been waiting for a long time now, what's another two or four years in the grand scheme of things? Either that or they don't want to admit to themselves the possibility of this being one big waste of time, a lie or a pipe dream.

Is it really so hard to release an update per year, even if incomplete and buggy, just to prove progress is being made? Is it really? I mean, at this point he could just pull the project off the internet and make it private... not that different from the current situation tbh. Bring out the faceplam emojis and call me entitled. I don't care. The game is promising but it's been 3 years, people are well within their right to assume this is dead until proven otherwise.

If you're are rebuilding the game bottom up with new engine, for free, having to wrangle appeasement releases into-semi workable states are a waste of time.

The community has noticeably waned and is declining even further, and the dev has left the only place where he gave consistent updates. I'm losing hope that this game will ever release. I was initially angry at the abandoned tag but I now think that it's warranted.
The Discord will still defend the dev. Pack of rabid dogs.

Well, don't expect people like me to fully "tolerate" your opinion, since you are roasting on a free unique project. This is becoming a very strange thing when people are randomly starting to trash talk about a passion project of one artist, or even more when a tag on a porn site (which doesn't have anything to do with a development of a game) triggers such emotional response.

I can only guess that you really liked this game, or like it even now, but you can't bear with a fact that it takes too much time for a new update. Maybe you want Teraurge to be like CoC2 or TiTs, with their constant gameplay updates, but would really like to see such a garbage burnout they have become? Maybe you want to see something like Kemo Coliseum, their team has been releasing news each month, but it's hidden behind patreon paywall and that game has been in development for fifteen years with only one free demo ever released?

Maybe you have missed that, but the game has been developed on a Flash engine and since Adobe self-destructed, it has been put on a new engine wheels. For the reminder Meandraco is not a pro programmer. But it doesn't matter right? No life, no work, no means to pay the taxes, etc, nothing should be between a developer's time and his game.

The development of single game, even for hundreds of people takes time, I can understand your frustration since 3 years is long time between updates and it probably will be 4 soon, but you mistook one thing about people here - when I wrote before about this game being a free unique project, I didn't mean it is the only one unique game I played. There are so many other great, good, bad games came out this past 3 years, so many shit happened and happens in the world right now, it really is an interesting and strange time to live in. What I mean this not a magnum opus of a game industry, we as people find an entertainment even in a time when we have to wait for something good to happen for years.

This thread has been in a constant denial too you know, it's easy to write walls of text when you know nothing about the others or an artist. And it's fine, or even great. Even with this little tag has started this discussion for several pages, it reminds about an existence of this game every time a bell on a upper right corner shows a new message, hell, I even won't be sad if Meandraco would disappear by now if this thread would continue to live. (Some would try to probably take the game's development but I doubt that will ever work) And this is what makes the game alive, here, discord, everywhere when we could discuss it, when we have something to say, it's never [Abandoned] for me. And thank for your message, without it, I wouldn't have written mine. Love and Peace to all lurkers here, thank you for your time to read this shit. And I'm out.

I specifically asked for an update a year to prove progress is being done. How you went from that to assume I want a monthly update is beyond me. Also don't forget we're in a pirate forum - content locked behind paywalls aren't exactly a problem here. Even if the dev can only dedicate 1 hour a day to this game, at the end of the year he should have something to show, doesn't matter if its buggy and filled with placeholder art (since that's usually what takes the longest to make). I'm not asking for a 5-star tech demo, I'm asking for something playable, as proof of progress.

I don't think that's too much to ask, nor an unreasonable time frame... Unless, of course, he's afraid of showing how much (or how little?) was done during that time. I guess calling it a "passion project" and only showing up with a few lines of code per year can be disappointing too... but I don't think that's the case. I hope.

This a piracy sharing site, he has his own blogspot site and patreon page.
About that blog... the last time he posted there was 8 months ago (December 2021). And the one before that was from a year prior to it (December 2020). Sure, he has no obligation to come here, in fact, many developers don't and some hate us outright. However, I reckon F95 sees more activity than both his blog and Discord combined. Heck, I found Teraurge because of this site.

Patreon and Discord are the only places (of importance) that are being updated with more frequency. You want news, you go to those. Nowadays there's Discord channels for almost every game and community out there. Were I to follow those I liked, I would have several dozen channels to keep track of, and I just can't be arsed with that... buuuut that's a personal choice, not the developer's fault.

I will never understand those white knights trying to defend games, like it's their own creation lmao. Or maybe they are paid actors or something, but you can't deny that 3-4 years is too much for a single update. And that emphasis on "passion project" is just hilarious. I get it that for dev it's just a hobby and that he didn't promise anything, so it's ok, but man... Why would you, pirate site's users, try to justify this long absence? It's just beyond me.

While I agree that this is a project with not much passion involve, or at least the dev wasn't passionate about it for some years. I think that people is right in the sense that this game is weird as shit and the dev is working knowing that xenophilia is a very niche genre and probably will not give them money in a long term while the game is big and well written with a lot of work behind.

People is over defensive toward this project, that is truth, but also we can't complain that much because at least until now the dev has been very open and is not doing anything scummy.

Agree that four years is absurd and ridiculouse but also they aren't in debt with us over anything.

The development time is admittedly getting long, but the developer isn't getting paid for it. Why moan constantly unless you're a customer entitled to compensation? The developer isn't obliged to provide anything to anybody. The "white knights" are about the same as slapping a mosquito. The background whining is getting annoying and is starting to border harassment. Calling out unjustified bitching is called being a decent human being.

I never said that the game is bad and i personally like the theme, but it's just ridiculous to protecc this long ass wait.

Bitching and whining won't help the development time, neither their financial support. But at least i can somehow understand those people. But trying to make up excuses for this long wait is something i personally can't understand.
