I understand and agree that in a passion project like this nothing is guaranteed, and I'm by no means saying that there NEEDS to be a new update, but I also think it's counter productive to call criticism "entitled". I'm not paying, I'm not entitled to anything, but it's a project that I've followed for years and want to see it succeed because I love it. I see nothing wrong with saying that taking 3 years to make a new update to be too long, because it is a long ass time, but I also don't mean that he has any obligation to release a new update. I get you, there are indeed alot of entitled moaners around, I think Lilith's Throne is a perfect example of this, Inoxia releases alot of updates, on the game and what she's working on, and the amount of people full on insulting her is actually sad to see, those people have no idea it is to make a game. But this is not what I'm doing here, I'm not coming here every week complaining about a new update, I hardly even post anything on this site in fact, I'm just pointing out that 3 years to make an update is a VERY long time for ANY project, and just because someone complains about it, it doesn't automatically mean they're being entitled, people have the right to voice their opinions and frustrations about projects they like.
Sry if it rubbed you the wrong way, nothing personal I was just talking about this behaviour in general. And yeah My tone is quite aggressive, apologise.

Just talked about Gatcha game somewhere else. TBH I'm happy this game remains a Passion Project, even if it means the progression is down to crawling - It's still give us unique and impressive experiences.
If this becomes the dev's main job, a lot of thing will be compromised, as he'll need to finding ways to earn money to his heart content thru it.
And we already hv lots of industrialised game here that turn into nothing more than soulless money milking machines.

Info from the old picarto days:

Supplies will be a thing in the game. They will allow you to cross difficult terrain (like climbing a wall). They will be expended upon crossing that terrain so you gotta stock up.
When you say from the old picarto days, do you mean it's been planned for a while or is it another case of feature sneaking its way in while V3 is being developed?

MD is a stoic (and stubborn). He wouldn't compromise his morals and rules so easily. I asked him directly how much money matters for him in this project and he said it's around 20% overall. (I think he meant it's still an influence but it's minor.)

Unrelated:
This might be a little V3 spoiler.

Oh, sorry, I scrolled over your question.

When I say "picarto days" I mean the days before the exodus to discord. Picarto was the main chat we used to communicate, everyone was online there almost 24/7.

And I think the supply thing was discussed in-depth with MD there. It's been part of the plan ever since then. Same goes for fishing, and skills being separate from main stats.

Alright everyone, buckle up, real big V3 (and V4) news/spoilers/leaks/everything ahead:

Additional Explanation:
-The folders you see above are NOT ALL the new things for V3.
-There is an unsorted folder as well that contains completely new characters.
-Around 30% of the names you see above are ferals (a bunch of them are not on this list). Some ferals are not split into M_(feral_name) and F_(feral_name). Perhaps the unity change makes it easier to work with different genders and stuff.
-I think it's safe to say that V2 characters with V3 next to their names are getting updates.

Combat-related:

As expected, MD didn't like the old slay the spire combat system. I don't know what to expect of the new one but it sounds like we might get something nice.

And here's naked Punflen (his top-half) as an extra:

I'm gonna remind everyone that the beta testing starts in 2-4 months. This is not a release date. A select few people are going to get it to provide feedback, including HelloAnonMyOldFriend, who also makes the music.

V3 2022!

Any game that ends up on this website becomes "free" regardless of whether or not they are. "Cheap" shouldn't be our concern, "quality" and "fast" should. IMO an update every 6 months is already a pretty generous timeframe compared to most indie porn games out there. This game may be niche but taking 3+ years to release a new update - that's even less likely to attract paying costumers.

Making xeno art every once in a while is probably the only thing keeping his patreons around. Ain't no chance someone is sticking around for that long for nothing in return, not unless they have money to burn or forgot they are subbed. I think I once read that art is the most laborious part of the game, if he wants to make it all AA+ then no wonder it's taking forever...

At this rate he might as well just drop the game and become a full-time xeno porn artist, but he probably won't because then he would lose the patreons that stuck around just for the game... It's true that +800$ a month isn't a whole lot but that's more than half the amount requested by the dev to treat this as his full-time job. Even if progress is slow, is it 3-year slow?
Here we go again...

This is a passion project. MD doesn't care about the money.

You cannot use your usual frame of criticism here, because the project's fundamental motivation is completely different from the stuff that gets posted here.

Even if he got no money for this project at all, and only his close friends would be able to access it, he would still continue making it.

Edit: One other thing. Art isn't the most "laborious" part of this game. MD can churn that out like a machinegun.

And there goes my hopes for this game...
"Pet project" of a slow and overly ambitious "artsy" dev with no interest in money? Yeah, you're more likely to win the lottery than seeing this game finished.

Things like these are why I prefer these "super personal projects" to remain closed to the public. Can't get my hopes up about something if I don't know about its existence. The dev may not have the desire or inclination to appease the crowds and release things in a timely fashion but he made the project public and is making money off of it. That creates expectations in people, regardless of whether or not he cares about that. But whatever... nothing I can do about it.

PS: He wrote on his blog that he chose the "sketchy, unfinished style" style on purpose because the game has too many pictures and it would take a long ass time to draw all of them in color and detail. His words, not mine. So yes, "laborious" if he decides to make everything high quality...
You are repeatedly venting about how a free to play porn game's development has hurt your feelings. I'm trying to give a new perspective here because we live in a world where YandereDev was a thing. However, I'm not sure what your goal here is. You don't have nearly enough data to draw a conclusion here, and even if you gave us the most complete explanation of why the capitalist outlook is better than being a content stoic, you are arguing against a fundamental development philosophy, thus we simply wouldn't care.
MD cares about the expectations of people, but he's more like a street musician (who is out there having fun) you give some change to whenever you feel like it, rather than one that tours the world hosting concerts for millions.

Like I said before, the game is never going to have a complete narrative ending.
"John Teraurge goes through the dungeon, kills god, uses the McGuffin Machinery to travel back home. The End. You got ending C."
Endings related to starting a family and settling down with different characters is one way of how it will work. Hence the leaks months ago of a pregnant femPC.

The sketchy style works perfectly considering that player agency is one of the key writing rules MD has set. If a character tries to do something with you that you don't want, you get your chance to bail. So gay hard tops rejoice, malePC isn't going to be forced to bottom without you agreeing to it.
The potent color usage for the sketchy-style also makes them unique in an expressionist way, giving the scenes a more visualized emotional tone. This alone makes it more complex than your regular stick figure sketches, which are used merely as a stepping stone for the completion of an art piece. Knowing this, how "unfinished" they are in one's perspective becomes debatable.

Actually, the art is the fun part. It's the writing/coding that's the most laborious part.
(and before anyone says he should just hire a coder then, TU really started as a coding learning project if i recall.)
