I haven't used torrents yet.
What are the differences between this and compressed?
I'm only familiar with torrent being used to pirate movies and other stuff and it being real time shared over the internet to download. I think Filesfm is this way too?

Compressions makes games smaller by changing image/video formats and slightly compressing them so to reduce most of the size, while keeping most of the quality.

Torrents are unchanged games, but instead of being distributed on a company's centralized servers (mega, pixeldrain, filesfm, etc.), it's distributed through a peer-to-peer network, where users share files between each other. This has the advantage of not having ads, not having speed/bandwidth restrictions, allowing for stop/resuming of download, and not disappearing forever if the original source stops sharing it (I am grossly simplifying it, but should give you a good enough idea).
The aforementioned are also why pirate movies use this method. Once it's out there, it's very hard for copyright owners to remove and stop the content from being shared.

Ah so shared through the internet in real time even though this simplification of mine does a shit job of explaining anything

Torrents are also great to lead the police directly to your house. And technically you are not just downloading, but distributing.

Even if you're playing it super-safe and use TOR to connect, torrents can still identify the users.

Just don't torrent stuff the FBI would kick your door in for.

Actually it is a business model for law firms, finding copyright infringements and sending dissuasions. To my knowledge, torrent users are their greatest source of income. It's basically shooting fish in a barrel.

Either Tjop will continue working on this or they won't. Afaik they aren't charging on their patreon. And it was being released for free. And even if it never continues which will be sad we sure got some of the best 2d curvy NSFW art ever with it that I will always look back on fondly.
Agree completely. Sure the game is on hold, but Tjop did update us about severe health issues, and we haven't had to pay for the wait. They seem earnest to me, and even if things shouldn't progress, the product is a piece of art as it is. Let's just wait and see how it goes.

Just use a VPN and you will be fine no matter where you are (make sure you use one that is good for torrenting, you can go to r/Piracy and find out yourself).

But that's only a concern if you are illegally downloading and distributing copyrighted stuff. I doubt most games here even have official copyrights. And the government wont care that you download porn games (unless you live in certain parts of the world of course, then use VPN)

FYI, every author automatically owns the copyright for his work, no matter what it is, unless they explicitly wave them. They don't need to apply for copyright.
The government doesn't care for copyright, unless the copyright owner decides to sue.

Interesting, I was not aware, but after reading this

I seems you still need to register to be able to sue someone, so I still doubt you are in any real danger here unless the author explicitly registers and then takes the time and money to sue you for copyright infringement. If that was a common occurrence, this site would not exists lol
