Honestly there seems like a LOT of money in making porno games as long as you're the artist or know one whom you can work with closely while you develop the game (or you can make 3D games and play around with Daz models). 3DCG space is currently saturated but there is a good demand for 2D and 2DCG since they all have a unique art style and that can be appealing to many people.
Of course, there might be nuances to it but there are a shitton of abandoned games on this platform that provided updates for a year or two until the patreon subs poured in and after that? "Huge update is coming, trust me bro" and enjoy the money coming in same as this lazyass dev... his subs are so desperate for their next crumb of 'content' that they would keep paying him for that serotonin hit.
1K USD might not be much for an American but if you're from one of the third world countries, that is a shitload of money you can live off of comfortably.
