HAHA every time I see it used in a VN it makes me cringe, just as bad as when I see Michael 8 being used as another MC, with bonus points if he is wearing the henley shirt and jeans.

The proportional scaling (where you can now scale the figures and the heads don't get ridiculously large/small) is nice, but how could it have taken them 9 updates to realize that was an issue?

One notable change in the rig seems to be that there are now two twist bones in the thighs and upperarm.

I agree-I've never actually been a huge fan of the standard Victoria, mostly because it just shows up everywhere and is a bit too recognizable. I am looking forward to seeing what Mousso, Bluejaunte, etc. do with Gen9.
However (lol), I've also been trying out some of the non Victoria 8.1 figures, and while they are nice, its weird that they don't seem to take advantage of all the Victoria 8.1 features DAZ touted. Like, where is the Vellus hair, for example? Also, one of the "8.1" only figures I bought doesn't even have the separate head/body/face textures, they just use the same torso surface, which is kind of a cheat (My understanding is the body transition surface/texture is meant as a smoother transition between the very high res face and the lower res torso)
I'm worried that G9 will play out the same way, with DAZ reserving some of the best features just to show off Victoria.
Hope to be proven wrong, of course, lol.

The new rig, at least the parts that are in the outfit freebie, no hands obviously. Also, no butt bones still. So we still need to add them manually if you want to have butt jiggle.

The DazSlackers discord is going pretty crazy over G9. There are several PA's there singing high praises for it. Apparently it is a lot easier to work with, and they're making good arguments why. UVs are easier to work with, just one base mesh for everything.
Maybe something to keep in mind, easier means they can make more stuff quicker, which should increase supply, and lower prices. Well, lets see if the economics work out. They can also spend more time on it and increase quality instead, but I have a feeling which of those two behaviours is going to win in the market.
Anyways. They are also posting a bunch of additional images of G9 that I found interesting:
Face of the base mesh up close already looks quite a lot more detailed then G8.
It's nipple agnostic. I assume that will make it (somewhat) impossible to use generic nipple morphs on different figures, we will need either geografts or use a dedicated nipple morph for each figure.

Thats an interesting design choice-I guess to give a lot more flexibility to the main mesh beyond just humans.
The face looks great. And I really like Victoria 9's eyes in the expressions examples.
I've been working with the 8.1 face, and...I'm not sure in the end it was actually a jump from 8.0. This 9.0 looks like what they were really working towards.
As I mentioned above, I just hope the 3rd Party PAs get full access to all the higher level stuff (and take advantage of it).
I've also kind of lost some motivation on all my customized skin stuff on 8.0/8.1, lol.

Oh, I bough chevybabe's 8.1 eye product-it is pretty great. They have a bunch of extra utilities/settings that really make the eyes pop. They are a bit muted/less saturated than most products, which is probably more realistic but does look odd unless all your characters use the same eyes (probably a good idea anyways)
Here is an example of the brown eyes with all the extra settings (still working on this face lol):

There are three 'free with $15 purchase' items that have/are outfits, and also a pose pack. Also, there's a new batch of 'regular' freebies as well, at least one of which is over $15.
As for the rest of today's sale, nothing jumping out at me, so I'll leave that analysis to the pro shoppers around here!
Looks like the usual 'mixed bag' of sales over at Renderotica. A couple of the sales are in the 40-50% off range, nothing in particular jumped out at me.
As for the whole 'nipple agnostic' mesh on G9 thing, this seems like a bad idea to me, but then what do I know? I'm not planning on jumping on the G9 bandwagon anytime soon anyways, so I'll just watch this play out from the cheap seats...

It's interesting how Renderotica rarely has great sales (at least for what I have on my wishlist, lol) I guess they are so specialized they don't really have the same pressure to move stuff as DAZ does.

Yes I am aware. I was just pointing out that at least one of the freebies was over $15, so that you wouldn't have to combine it with another freebie or some purchase or something to meet the $15 prereq.

This is an interesting link, but I went to visit EJ store at gumroad and I discovered that there is no new item. All the assets that they propose were in the daz store (and are still referenced in the daz doku) while they left daz3D more than one year ago. Such a bummer. EJ were excellent PA, but they seem to have stopped producing 3D assets.
They seem to have recent products at artstation. But mostly zbrush related. By the way, a part of their artstation assets are free. I have no use for any of them, but some of you can be interested

I was also surprised by the lack of new content on Gumroad. But following your link to Artstation shows that is definitely where E&J are putting their effort in now. When I checked out their Artstation page when they left DAZ they only had three products listed, now it looks like 65. Seems to me that they have found a more lucrative niche.
