As far as I'm aware, the DAZ15 code only works once, right? If so, it's really best used on a giant purchase and I'd personally wait for a better discount on cards for it. (It's what I'm currently doing, also writing this made me realize I forgot to stack the 10% off cards on my Daz+ purchase.) I know I've seen 20% off and I've really only been keeping eyes on Daz for a few months.

I've mentioned this before but DAZ really underestimates the power of Gift Card sales, IMHO.
Taking a x% hit in exchange for a bunch of guaranteed sales you control just seems like a no-brainer to me. You are guaranteed money upfront before someone even finds anything they want to buy.
I personally am much more willing to buy something that I'm a little on the fence about, if it's coming off of a Gift Card and my "cost" at purchase time says $0.00, lol.

Yep. That's exactly what I meant. I'm waiting for a 20%+ off GC's, then I'll stack on DAZ15 onto the absolute max amount I can afford.

If I can't afford what I consider "enough," I'll wait a bit longer.

I prefer buying things for figures, so clothing, hair or even some of the the figures itself from that list. Mainly because I see Daz as mainly only for making these figures, environments are nice to have for sure, but when in doubt I tend to go for something figure related, I always think that I can model environments myself to an extent, or also just import free/bought assets from other sources.

So if I had to pick just one item from those 1.99$ items, it would probably be this:

EDIT: I never actually tried rendering that free Bates House, now I did, it is super heavy. Daz falls back to CPU rendering, and I have a 3090.

Just a heads up for everyone about the Ergou PA which has a lot of figures in the 1.99$ sales this time around: he/she basicly sells the same figure over and over again with different promo pics.


These are Lin and Lu from the current sale. Spot the difference. I almost can't tell (I think the nose is a little different). You can also compare the skin textures and see they are exactly the same file, to the last bit.

So just a warning to not get carried away when looking at promo pics, other PA do the same actually (for example Vicey3D on rendo reuses skin textures), but none of them does it as blatently as Ergou. I actually would only buy figures by this guy in these 1.99$ sales, if at all.

EDIT: buy his hair instead, or a figure + hair combo, those are usually not bad.

LOL, they even apparently have the same file errors with the eyelashes (missing transparency mask).

I did read an interesting thread over on the DAZ forums about reusing skin textures. One of the more highly rated PAs in terms of character quality/textures admitted they use the same skin textures on several characters (after someone complained), and said it was just difficult given the economics of their business (single artist) to make everything custom.
I totally get it, but I find myself more interested in the individual parts (skin textures, settings, fibermesh eyebrows, etc.) than the overall characters, so I would be a little bummed to get the same skin textures.

There's also some single seat wonky looking ATV in today's Daz3D.com Daz+ sale that's 90% off, if you need something different that can paddle through water as well as go over land. $1.19 for Daz+ members...

Other than that, yeah more of the usual over at Daz3D as far as I can tell. I did note an anomaly this morning where stuff that I had bought yesterday was still in my cart, but I did have an invoice for them and they were in my Daz product library on the website, so no worries. Still, it's weird that the cart wasn't cleared after purchase...

I have plenty of sexy G8F clothes, getting an actually realistic & detailed outfit would be nice. Maybe you could kitbash something to cover the thighs, but I don't own it so I haven't tried.

It turns out that I already have that outfit. I grabbed the Mega bundle that it's in a while back in some sale, and it's now forgotten somewhere in my 3D Library folder. Thanks for IDing it for me though, it's very much appreciated!

I'd probably put a bodysuit underneath and apply a chainmail or leather texture to hide the thighs. Not ideal, but it would cover the skin at least. Usually, though I'm going in the other direction as most of the stuff I do is porn related, and people want to see more skin, not less skin...
