You did accept it, you accepted when you entered into a reoccurring subscription contract.Well, in my country it's actually against the consumers protection code to bill stuff without you accepting it...
It's sorry that your country coddles you like a child instead of treating you like an adult capable of honouring your contracts....because they state that your inertia of not canceling is not the same as you agreeing to something, so it would be considered scammy here.
You did choose, you chose to enter into a reoccurring subscription contract. The whole point is that I didn't choose it, I merely forgot about it, it is way different.
If you don't understand the terms of the contract you plan to enter into, you should research it or hire someone to explain it to you.
There are plenty of forgetful and inattentive people in the world. It's better that they learn how to wipe their chins and bottoms instead of requiring Big Mommy Government to do it for them. And I'm sure is not just me. Lots of people probably probably forgets that stuff, even more so if they support multiple different projects.
Why would you remain backing such a project? You should learn to pay attention to what you're doing. Not necessarily about this dev, but if someone makes some page asking for donations to help him make a game but he almost don't work on it because they expect people to keep sending money either way, it is scammy, regardless if people choose to send the money on their own volition.
This is true. Then bitch about them being a scam, let everyone else know how little they update and what their required Patron amounts are, etc. But to claim you were scammed when you forgot you were paying them each month to not update... that's laughable.Just because something isn't outright illegal or a proper scam scheme, doesn't mean it isn't scammy behaviour.
