I enjoyed this game and supported this Dev for a bit. I stopped my support after the Dev promoted his project for steam and then went into radio silence. This Dev had every opportunity to communicate and even pause support payments, but chose to do neither. It would take a lot for me to consider supporting in the future. I am sure the Dev is a nice guy, but having respect which includes taking a few minutes a month to talk to his patrons. That is my two cents take it or leave it.

I wasn't talking about an update at all, and I know it won't come out after a month like hopes promised lol everyone knows it.

What I was talking about however, was the steam release, which will bring about the change for this VN to have a certain price and then it'll no longer be free on hopes patreon.

After that happens, Hopes himself said that he "can't call it a hobby anymore".
This was my post from Apr 6, 2023, not much has changed since then.

It is funny because, I used to be angry at Hopes that he is not giving us a lot of updates or even when he did, they had little content in them.

Now, I just feel disappointed and a tad bit sad that what used to be one of my fav VNs on this site is in this state.

well, all we can do is wait, I guess.

Also, to MR.you-know-who reading this, there is no need to tell me "stop supporting blah blah", I know! stopped years ago LOL.
I am doing just what everyone does on a forum, expressing their opinion.

I don't really think the game has been abandoned (yet). That said, the game ending on such a massive cliff hanger would be incredibly fitting for the mafia genre lmao

I'm hanging in because it'd be a f'in tragedy if this is how Luna DeLuca's story ends. Every time I see the threat light up I think maybe there's news, but it's always people talking about how there isn't any news ... which is sad.
I feel you. This had such a fun story and worldbuilding. The story even had a lot of depth.
There was also that Assassins game which got abandoned after 0.1 which also had a lot of potential imo.

Sad stuff indeed

i don't care about Hopes not giving us updates initially.

But then i got disillusioned when, in a very timely manner, just right when f95 thread gets the Abandoned tag Hopes can make a patreon update post real quick around the time.

I would rather he just not post at all instead of having patreon update post around that very particular time. Like Little Penguin rpg51 and uhhhok I was also a patron. And I also cut the membership.

One possibility is that it's just serendipitous. But another possibility is that he has enough in him to make patreon post update around that very specific time that f95 abandoned tag got put onto this thread. Well then why does he not have enough in him to update us before that?

While it's true that patrons are not owed anything, it is a patronage. I guess I expected more in terms of reciprocation of communication or the timing of communication I guess.
To me it's either serendipitous or show lack of respect towards us. Still a great game though. He's very talented for sure

This scenario has played out countless times and why I don't subscribe to anyone's patreon anymore. I will donate anywhere from $50-100 upon completion of the game but not a dime before.

It's also why I play only one version and then watch for it to be final in the Watchlist. I'm not wasting my time and money on devs that don't deliver a finished product.

This one is particularly frustrating because it was a good game and it ended on a cliffhanger.

Stop being such a wannabe thread police, yeez youre annoying.

Its very fine to be disappointed with the development, you can be disappointed and still want a project to succeed (and therefore hang around). The story/characters are just really great but everything else about the development of this avn sucks ass at the moment.

Even more as a former supporter

And its not like the patreon's are getting any more communication lol, its as barebones and unsatisfiying as it gets and kinda looks like he is trying to get rid of as much supporters as fast as possible.

I just struggle to comprehend how anyone could invest so little and feel not grateful at all for all the money he has received and still does.

I understand hiccups in the development proccess and that the devs have a life which sometimes gets complicated which can result in long update times, what i dont understand is the entire lack of communication about all that. His patreon post from 15th nov is a bad joke.

And its just strange as hopes seemed to be a cool guy who didnt had any troubles with communication.

Yeah agreed, I think it's totally fine to voice your frustrations, and it's such an idiotic answer to tell someone, "it's your own fault for putting your time into this, blah blah blah".

Just a tasteless take, and a stupid way to go about things.

I think devs should care about this site, even if its a pirate one. It makes sense to make a post when you get an abandoned tag here, you don't get any more views on the thread, except for people already knowing about this game, for new members they will just skip a post with the tag abandoned, at least I do.

Also although it's a pirate site, it's the only place I can find quality games and offer my support ( I am a patreon on a couple of games here), I would have not had the opportunity to find them otherwise and the more the dev is responding here the more my subscription last to his patreon for some reason.

i wonder how much he made from steam and was it fall far below his projection?
gamalytic estimates the sales at 10100 - 24000 so that means $127000 - $306900 of gross revenue. vginsights says it sold 7650 units totaling $86706 of gross revenue, this is most likely the correct number. on march 1st 2024 hopes himself said the game has sold 2000 copies at that time.

Well, as much as I miss having an update to play, the money spent on the Steam version was definitely worth the game so far. I would not have been happy to have been a Patreon supporter from the beginning, but then again, nobody's forcing subscribers to keep subscribing, and some people have enough money not to miss it...

I just checked out the Steam page for this game. The publisher and developer is listed as MemoGaming. I find it interesting this Dev is publishing under a different name. Is this a common practice for Devs on Steam?
