As the dog is repeatedly referred to as "dog", I can't help but picture him/her as "Dog" from TWD.

MC: (pointing at the mess of the room) Look what he/she did!

Heh. Don't know whether it was due to me specifically.
My guess is, a lot of people talked about the dog and asked for his/her inclusion from these forums as well as discord probably.

But regardless, should the dog gets included in the main game somehow, it would no doubt be one of very welcome additions I admit.

If this dog is a he, don't know why but I somehow would find it hilarious if it has somewhat similar personality to our MC here. A loner by nature unless he gets approached by others (whether other dogs or humans), but loves to flirt with all females of any species (whether it's other dogs, or humans for that matter), resulting in funny situations with Luna, Gracie, and Isabel (a bit conflicted about Cordia though, her being Don, I guess I kinda want her to have her dignity intact......Thinking about it more........Nah......Let our new little companion of the "perverted demon" make the moves on all four main ladies ).

If the dog is a she, well some good personality examples of female pets/companions are out there already, such as faerie dragon from "Sorceror", and Lola from "Connected" (game which sadly got abandoned).

I was hoping the dog would join me as a companion. Maybe even help me fight that douchebag harassing the chick.

Next update needs:

1) a mission going all pear shaped until Floaty floats in and bails us all out
2) a mission going all pear shaped until Floaty floats in but gets overwhelmed, but then Doggo comes in, acting all cute, getting bellyrubs from the bad guys, they let their guard down, whoopsie, bloodbath

Some do think so and have voiced this opinion in the past. Others countered that it might be the most realistic, down to life part of the whole game. In the end everybody has their own opinions but a dev's gotta do what a dev's gotta do.

It did nothing for me, in of itself. Elicited a smirk, probably.
But, reading here and witnessing people provide frequent enactment and further inspiration for the character, it makes me laugh more, after the event.

While it didn't add anything to the actual story, I'm not gonna lie. It did make me laugh.

lol I'd argue that their complaints don't generally have any substance & they are not funny, either.
At least this was/is a valid complaint & was mildly amusing.

Problem lies, as you say, in the purpose.
Mockery is a form of acknowledgement & anyone who gets the point is already aware of these types of people & what dullards they are.
Anyone who doesn't get the point is not going to take it onboard, anyway. So it's simply the dev sticking a middle finger up.

But I am a single dude who makes a porn-free porn game (excluding this update, heh). I do whatever I want.
The scene was made because I felt like it when I was thinking of a transition between the scenes. I thought it was funny. No deeper meaning to it.

If I remember correctly, the dev of Sunshine Love also recently did something somewhat similar with his latest update, poking fun at people who just didn't understand what "Abandoned" means on this site.

Actually, in my country you need 7 people to be able to form a legally recognized club. There sure are more than 7 devs out there who have been mocking complainers one way or the other in their games. Midlife Crisis comes to mind.

(Although, especially with the people who do not get the "abandoned" tag and its rules and just think it's some punishment for games which do not do as I like, I think a DeLuca contract could be fixed. Immediate account termination. Wouldn't need a capo.)

In my opinion, it was very necessary. I didn't see is as immature, but saw it as a shot across the bow of those few people that frequently show up around here with "white knight syndrome". I laughed a lot, and didn't mind it taking me out of the mood of the game for a few moments. Plus, whenever we see one of these folks show up, we can just shout "Filius, it is you!".

The sense of infantile entitlement of a vocal few of the commenters in this thread over the years has been unbelievable. If a player doesn't like the game, fine, either keep it to yourself or maybe offer constructive criticism if you feel you have something new to say, but to constantly harp on the fact that Hopes is focusing on developing a believable story, and that the game is ruined and pointless to play unless Hopes makes the MC jump in bed with the daughters of the don after just a few weeks, is very childish and completely unrealistic to the story and its characters. Even with a kiss, he takes his life in his hands. And Luna and Gracie are not the typical oversexed females present in most of the VNs here. No matter how pleasant and decent looking the MC is, in a story approximating real life characters, in a dramatic situation, neither Gracie or Luna are likely to want to sleep with the MC after just a short time. It would be very jarring to the story if one day it just happened. I applaud Hopes for sticking to his guns and telling the story he wants to tell, rather than caving to a few vocal complainers like some devs do.

And Hopes makes an important point in that these people aren't just happy just to complain once and then go play something else that is more to their preference, but they have to spend hours playing each update, just so they can come back to the forum here and complain some more. And the "white-night" attitude is especially misguided. They seem to feel like they are doing other players a huge favor (or pretending to), by pointing out over and over again what is obvious on the first page of the thread, and pretty much everywhere else.

Anyway, I don't really feel the need to see Filius show up in the game again, but I think it was a humorous way for Hopes to make his point, and since the complainers secretly love Deluca Family and are first in line to play each update so they can have a new round of complaints ready, I am sure they all saw the satirical depiction of themselves. I wonder if they all looked up what Filius Canis means in Latin.
