You know... I have been thinking about something... Has anyone noticed that there was only one attempt by the MC to use his power on a guy? It was this George (I think that was his name) guy - the mom's ex boyfriend? The thing that bothers me is that at that moment the MC was suffering from a terrible headache (caused by overuse of his power), so it may be possible that he was simply unable to access his power at that time. This can also be backed by the fact that during the bar scene with Carol and Monique (very early game) the MC tries to use his power and fails because he was too drunk. In other words it's possible that his physical state or well-being may be an important factor in using his power.
So an interesting idea hit me. What if at this critical moment, the MC decides that the only way in which he can possibly come out on top is to bet everything on perhaps having the ability to take control of Mindlos himself. This would make Mindlos unable to give any orders (and we know by now that his "subjects" only do what he tells them to do and nothing more to further his interests). Although, this would pretty much mean that Mindlos would be taken out of the picture (as I would go for making him commit suicide - getting rid of the decrepit psychopath in a way that would most likely not get traced back to the MC), and I strongly believe that he is meant to be the villain until the end of the game.
I don't know - the MC also showed ability to use his power over multiple girls at once (Carol and Monique during the first morning at the mansion), so maybe the resolution is going to be that Rachel is in fact faking being controlled by Mindlos and she will incapacitate him, while MC uses his power over Miranda and Donna.

Idk what you guys think but I extremely enjoy the scene one slave being taken over by a villian.
Opening the console can be done by editing the 00console.rpy file within game name/renpy/common. Just change config.console=False to config.console=True.

Well, I'm not related to the author as well & the rest are pure speculation from my end.
The main question here is: How close we are to the game end (or in the other words - how far we have progressed in the game)
Mansion reconstruction quest still indicates that we might not have reached the middle point. Seriously - we have not yet started to expand base of operations.
New girl (Nikki) seem to be in the beginning story as well.
With that in mind - let's get to the story twist we've got. Currently we have:
* MC is being captured by the arch nemesis
* arch nemesis seem to took control over Rachel
* arch nemesis threatens to kill MS's family (hostages)
There are multiple resolutions to the situation. For example - MC being killed or broken & it is Game Over. Or something unexpected happens and MC saves his family & kills Dr Mindlos. But it also will be a game end. Getting new bad guy won't work. Too much time will be needed to characterize him & involve him into the story.
So Mindlos has to stay alive. Moreover hostages have to remain in Mindlos' possession or he won't have any lever on MC.
Meaning - something should happen that will allow MC to escape. possibly with Rachel as if MC gets out without Rachel - he'll have to look for another Investigator.
Speaking about Rachel & control over her. I believe in the twist of events when Mindlos overrun the control by MC despite having problems with the other "minions". Possible explanation is - MC was not able to implement full control and instead stopped at lets say 80%
So I see the situation unravel the following way (something like that):
* Dr Mindlos gets a terrible headache or looses consciousness for a bit & got escorted off - postponing the "execution" till morning. MC is placed in some room & Rachel is given the task to guard him, while assassin guards hostages. Then MC escapes, Mindlos changes his base and everything starts over. Possibly Rachel got liberated as well.
For example - in couple hours of imprisonment - Rachel get back under MC influence (let's say Mindlos' overwrite was not permanent and faded over time). Or someone (Victoria? Nicky?) was following MC & will knock down Rachel & free MC. After that MC will take Rachel with him to Mansion & regain control.
I have no idea what will happen in next chapter, but I would be highly disappointed if MC will liberate the hostages. But also if hostages will be harmed.

I agree with you here. Midlos should be the only antagonist in the game and last until the end of the game. It is already too late to introduce new villains (maybe if something was started in this update, but I personally feel like it would already be too late).
Here I completely disagree. If in the next update it turns out that the hostages will be taken away AGAIN than I will immediately remove the game from my PC and purge the save files, because I refuse to let the dev dangle the hostages in my face and keep yanking my chain. What the fuck are they, Pauline from Donkey Kong?! If the dev was not planning on having the hostages rescued after this event, than starting it was a mistake - it will only aggravate the players (myself VERY much included). Mindlos has proven himself already very dangerous, ruthless and downright obsessed with the MC - both to study him and as the MC is the only actual threat to him. It is completely possible that we may see the family rescued in the next update, and from this point on (probably seeing the state in which they are after Mindlos's attempts to break them) the game will be about getting resources and increasing the size of the harem in preparation for the final showdown with the doc. After all, the MC by now will have to realize that this fucker is not going to leave him be - fighting back will be the only option.
However, I do not believe that the dev is planning to have Midlos escape with the hostages- not only did Rachel tell you that Mindlos has a plane ready, but also if you score a game over during Nikki's quest (yes - there is a game over possible there, if you don't have enough charisma) it says that you did not stop Mindlos in time from taking them fuck knows where and selling them as sex slaves (again - yes, fucking really!). So there will be no sitting tied to a chair until morning (like you suggested).
And finally, if Rachel stays under Mindlos's control, AND he escapes with the hostages, that means that Rachel was pointless as a character, and a waste of time (on both the side of the players and the dev).

ikr , what is the fucking point of keep telling us to hurry the fuck up and save them for the whole last update , if you just gonna let the villain win anyway
and the MC keep losing to Mindlos for no reason , all of those preparation , hire a detective , get a pair of goggles , yelling that we gotta "hurry" , and then proceed to run into Mindlos's trap , its just lazy writing

The Update Info already said that this chain of events will conclude in the liberation of the hostages... so no worries here

During the game their has already been hinted that mindlos was just a pawn.. their are much bigger players involved, it would not even surpise me anymore if eventually player is forced to even join mindlos because of the bigger lurking danger that will occur later on. But first things first, i dont really care about rachel at this point as long as the mom and sis return safely to rileys mansion with the mc. Rachel could be rescued at later time but to me she was never priority at this point but the mom and sis was.
The first time i was so pissed when i could not chose who to rescue but let it happen the failed rescue attempt happen and again i was not given the choice to punish clara for disrupting me for the rescue attempt, also previous time the rescue would not have failed if clara called the cops and let mindlos get away..
But now it was deliberate trap maybe clara and rachel where working together to disrupt mc from inside out.. since it was clara who introduced rachel to us to compensate for the failed rescue attempt..

He should ask: will we rescue the girls in the next episode/update..
The way this question was asked could take 20 episodes or more even before we get the girls back.. he says we will get the girls back but never mentions in what state they will be in or how long the rescue will take it could several episodes witch this rescue could be prolonged to...

If you can use the console try world_save_version=0 or you can try the attached file, place in /game directory.
I think Rschel is faking it and waiting for oporune moment to strike and if not i hope we bring them all back including Rachel with MC.
