I wish I could give a satisfying answer my dude but the last time I tried to assess on my own, we had a 6 month extension.
Once the first release is out, we're going to discuss this topic.
I can say every release after the first one is going to be easier to put out as we'll have a framework to build upon rather than starting from scratch.

I mean, they are releasing the first full in game year as part one, then releasing each season as they complete them. Arguably most patreon funded games are early access, no?

So does that mean you will reach a certain and the game will just, end, until the next episode or whatever?
No, you'll be booted into the sandbox.
To give a short rundown since it's been awhile.
Each chapter is a year. There are 4 seasons. Each season will represent a minor story arc within the comics while the chapter itself will have its own overarching story arc.
The exception is chapter 1 which focuses on setting up the world since the comic took place during the 70s and the game takes place around 2005.
Chapter 2 will be the Phoenix Saga.

not sure if it was said anywhere, but what are the planned characters? seeing 4 in the description atm, but for example Emma Frost is missing, will she get added?

I think that for the first "year" of the game, it's just going to be Rogue, Jean and Laura. Others will be added in the next "year".
Storm does show up a bit and you can get some stat points in. And I think Shiny practically confirmed Emma for part two with that focus on the Hellfire Club, but i dunno.

2nd edit: 3 girls per chapter. Given the time it took them to do what they've done (I've been following their work since before Ron went from mod to stand alone) I'm confidant in that being delivered.

A long time ago in a galaxy far far away I once posted every girl we had discussed... I got yelled at.
The list has changed substantially since then and nothing will ever be confirmed until the release comes out. Just read the comics if you want to speculate.
Yeah there's 5 years. Each year is made up of 4 seasons. Each year will add three girls. There's year 6 six which is free roam and we may add girls to previous years or year 6 depending on where things make sense.

It has been asked before, and the answer that ShinyBoots1993 has given is "When it's ready".
The game has been in beta testing for... two weeks, if I'm not mistaken: from what Crichton has said, the game looks good and only needs a few things to be improved/polished.
Once they've ironed out these things, they will be ready for the release; could be a matter of weeks or months, but it's best that they take their time, don't rush and don't give an ETA unless they're absolutely sure that the game is ready.
More than the date, I am more concerned about the content.
It's worth waiting if we find a version 1.0 that ends up having 5 minutes of content 0 gameplay and if perhaps all the scenes are reduced to seeing one of the girls naked and nothing else

Chapter one will be a "complete game" so you don't have to worry. This includes sex, dates, content unique to each girl, a fully fleshed-out personal story for each girl, dozens of outfit options, a sandbox with random events, side characters that aren't romanceable such as Nightcrawler*, a fully explorable mansion and nearby town, four seasons with characters changing attire to match the temperature, a social media app for characters to update random statuses and to respond in the main plot including characters that won't have a sandbox presence, and finally an original soundtrack.
We've also been able to sneak in some nice visual stuff so the characters won't be static. This includes slight movements we hope looks natural as well as breathing animations depending on physical activity. So not just blinking.
The only thing that will be missing is the chapter finale event that leads into Chapter 2.
There will be two updates after that which will fix any bugs the public finds and to include that finale as well as any extras we're able to throw in.
From then on we would be focusing on Chapter 2 and general QoL improvements. Though as stated above, you will have a content-filled experience with our first public build. Our beta testers can confirm that the content mentioned is fully or mostly implemented at the time of this writing.
*We are actively searching for artists willing to draw gay sex, and EVENTUALLY we plan on adding a female protagonist but that would double the dev time so work on that won't begin until the male route is finished or close to finishing.
Can confirm, most of the features are in the game, only a couple stuff is missing.
