As for Jean...look man, I'm gonna be honest I just can't take big-sis-little-bro dynamics seriously ever. I can buy Rogue or Laura's stuff as legitimate actual conditions but Jean just seems out of pornhub. I still keep it on because it's funny. That might just be a me issue but if I were a betting man I'd say most people find Jean's quirk less believable than the others even if they're not willing to admit, they just think it's hot. If we want to portray Jean with her feeling of control over us, thinking she deserves Null because we are the new special and she is the original, there are probably more legit ways than "big sis", it just seems such a stretch. I dunno tho'. Maybe it'd work in a japanese game.

She DOES think she deserves Null because he's the new special and she's the original. We have plans on making that more obvious.
The Faux-incest thing actually has a lot behind it but people tend to forget that you can have a possessive and controlling Jean without her having the Big Sis quirk activated. We split it in two due to complaints.
So the instigating thing is the explanation of Seniors looking after Freshies.* Her line about "Think of me as a big sister" is something that Null can comment on and nudges her in that direction.
She is also the youngest of multiple siblings and was treated with less respect because of it. You don't look up to the youngest person in the family as an authority or expert on something.
If you activate both quirks you've completely enabled an unhealthy coping mechanism born from her extreme need for control over her life.
You're right in that it'd work better in a Japanese game but it's more just a power dynamic that she latches onto as an excuse that evolves into faux-incest.
*As has been discussed to death, not all colleges have seniors look after freshmen in this way. However several, including my own, did. Not everything is a universal experience and we're not going to include or exclude something for that reason alone.
Other terms are Dorm Aunts/Uncles and Senior Supervisors.

To be fair it read more as roleplaying from an inexperienced person lol. I dislike incest play so I don't go along with Jean's quirk but this version of Jean is clearly very awkward. The spoiler stuff posted a while ago about Jean's perspective on Null, Xavier and herself is a lot more compelling IMHO.
Jean very much is meant to be awkward. Also I believe that was me and it was about how Jean is upset at no longer being Xavier's interesting special kid.
Adding onto more of the incest thing. Jean will be protective of Null regardless of her quirks and you can even activate Big Sis Jean while remaining platonic with her. This version of Big Sis Jean is less fetishistic and her deciding that Null needs a good role model to look after him so he makes the smart decisions like only dating nice girls she chooses and not any hussies that would encourage him to be lazy in school.
This woman is deeply troubled and yes we will be exploring this thoroughly as development proceeds.

but the main point for a PROPER polyamorous group is to maintain open communication about the matter and establish rules that make everyone involved feel the most comfortable and loved.
Which is why it's not as easy as simply asking. The girls have to know each other and have these rules.
and I'm sure the dev team also - fear it would start up a whoooole lot of "tHiS iS cUcKiNg" commentary if it was even remotely implied in game, so....
Yeah this is where we have to drop all possibility of suspension of disbelief. The most that would happen is some girls may want to date each other within the group. Which Null can discourage.
While I've been harping on about realism and stuff, this is a game and SOME concessions need to be made but as mentioned in earlier comments, there are some scenarios we just rather not brush aside.
1. I'm assuming the reason the phone broke was because the phone was made using someone's mutant abilities? and since Null here cancels mutant abilities, it more or less allowed it to break essentially? right?
That's the ongoing theory.
2. I'm finally gonna play the game since 0.2 but since my saves don't work to like they use to before and I don't have the time to grind. How exactly do I open the console commands again?
Dude we've changed the intro in multiple ways since then and there is a lot of content from the beginning to the end that has been added. If you haven't played since 4 entire versions ago you're missing out on a lot of content, including some sexy content.
