The language changes argument is nonsensical justification by people with ulterior motives. Language does change but it happens over the course of a long period of time and is seldom done with intent. For example if tomorrow a small group of people decided the word "STOP" meant "Do whatever you want" it would create chaos and their efforts would be rebuked by all of society. Or for a non-hypothetical look at how long some groups have been trying to "reclaim" certain racial slurs. Hasn't been very effective has it?
You clearly have a very set opinion on the matter and that is fine but do not accuse and discredit simply because you don't agree.
(and not that it matters but reclamation of racial slurs is primary to normalize and reduce impact not remove the word but to disassociate the word from its original hateful use )
I have no ulterior motive (what you think I want to turn the frogs gay or something?) language changes quite frequently all the time on the internet (the space we are currently using to interact) and quite often with intent and yes it does create quite a lot of online (again the place we are talking to one another)chaos in. You are arguing to the effect of my point in the fact that this is an internet (you already know) forum. I could tell you I believe cheese falls from the sky instead of rain and someone might support me for the simple fact that they find the opinion funny. Again you are mixing two separate things and coming out with a convoluted conclusion. But seeing as you are on some rage boner directed rampage lets attempt to break it down for you;
Futanari
An old Japanese word which means one of two shapes in reference to a hermaphroditic person (which was the subject of the letter in which the word appeared). The term goes on to be used in folk tales and stories in which a character is androgynous and or sex-less. It was is also used in reference to gods who did not a embody a specific sex, which lead to a shared terminology in the use of the word hangetsu meaning halfmoon to describe certain people and/or divine beings
Hangetsu
I'm not going to get into this as its not moving towards where our discussion is as its a lengthy topic about deities and how they interact with themselves and humans. However a quick bastardised modern version of it can be found in the form of lunar gender, which to quickly summarise is a person who is genderfluid (not sex-fluid like the root idea)depending on the phase of the moon.
Androgyny as a usage
Its should come as no surprise that being able to disguised yourself as the opposite sex was useful for a great number of reason in japan; spy work, infiltration, honour, money, smuggling ect. It wasn't and uncommon thing for guards of certain office and station to encounter a woman smuggling something lodged in her vagina but due to the rules of their particular lord or depend on the group of guards themselves be unable to search her intimately. Which has recorded evidence of in the forms of stories pictures and poems questioning the smugglers sex.
How is all of that relevant
Other than the change in language and culture its not, at least not to us right now in this PORNOGRAPHIC WEBSITE OF PIRATED CONTENT. Regardless the tale of the futanari continues in its use as a tool in erotic fiction, lending its concept to actors and content creators and transsexual actors. You can find any number of examples of female actors using a strap-on or prosthetics to perpetuate the idea of a futanari.
Now this creates an interesting environment in the fact that what we have understood that not only did futanari reference an androgynous character but also a character of varying degrees of sexual organs. with that uncertainty entering a creative space you now have a term that address futanari in various states;
- very large clitoris used as substitute
- vagina with retractable penis
- penis and vagina with/without testicles
- no vagina with a very large penis
- completely male/female until affect by drugs or magic in which they take on any of the above traits
- Any other type of futanari concept you have seen
The onus of the depiction of the idea here is on the creator, the bounds of the concept they have chosen to explore is quite vast as its simple a being that calls their sex into question physically, Yet the most common emergence in a description of a futanari is a being that is feminine in all aspects bar their genitalia.
The online experience
The internet is filled with idiots, you and I are no exception. Its not unusually for something to be shared, misinterpreted and then have the misconception become a common assumption. A picture or word that means one thing to you one week by virtue of viral spread can then mean something completely different the following week, the eggplant emoji simply meant eggplant until it was reconceptualized to be used as something else that I don't even have to explain to you because we both already know and understand. Its a prime example of how quickly something can be applied a dual meaning in and online environment where people are constantly shortening and using slang to converse. Take a look at twich chat its an entire sub culture with its own visual language a popular new term added almost monthly.
To refocus on the original point
Futanari clearly has popular depiction on the internet, because of the nature of the internet, which is of a female character with both a penis and a vagina. However by virtue of evolution of the idea of the futanari that is not the only depiction nor is any particular depiction correct as our modern experience of them is whatever an artist or author chooses to show them as.
Because it refers to a specific thing; a sub-genre if you will, whereas dickgirl is a generalization. A good example would be when someone uses the term European instead of referring to a specific country of origin, Futanari would be a specific country within the area known as Dickgirls.
also this would be the other way around futanari would be the country, dickgirl would be region with intersex, newhalf, shemale transsexual and hermaphrodite as cities or towns.
