To late.. It's easy money for them and EA will kill any studio that creates other trends. That is what i called "chinese style money laundry" since the chinese did the same on useless mobile games..(people still bite hard on this bait)
actually, now that i think about it, they wouldn't really be able to do this fr (since microtransactions are considered a crime in certain countries and they're pushing for it to be straight up banned in the uk. they already got in trouble for this in the past, so i'd assume that they wouldn't want to do it again

personally I think that if the game flops even a little bit, it will be the end of the sims franchise cuz we all know how quickly ea likes to destroy and throw away their ips the moment things get a little bit rocky for them
Your comment reminded me of when Sims 3 was giving way to Sims 4 and people started complaining about the cartoonist look, etc. and EA responding that if Sims 4 dis not sell there would not be a Sims 5?

BMW is rolling out micro transaction based software for CARS. I wouldn't count on the idea of that concept dying anywhere else anytime soon.

You're right... Not to mention EA is getting spanked real hard over loot boxes in FIFA and other titles. If Great Britain bans loot boxes because they consider them gambling, it won't take much for other countries to do the same. If EA tries it with the sims, it will be the end of the franchise, and likely EA.

You said it your self "they consider them gambling" But in game stores for products are not like that. No law can stop that otherwise all modders will be considered illegal, same as any online dlc sales. If the sell you a "nike shoes" pack in game sponsored by nike or whatever who and how are they gonna block it???

I was talking about loot boxes... Loot boxes are specifically designed for you to do the "just one more" bit. People have emptied bank accounts just to get the right players and gear. It has to stop someplace. And if a country felt it necessary to regulate in game sales for whatever reason, they certainly could.

REVIEWS will affect my purchase decision. If they are going after loot boxes, micro transactions and limited customization options, I imagine people will go back to playing older versions. The modding community has done great things and I still have lots of content I have not even played yet so there is lots of replay value in store. I will wait a year or two after a game has been out before I will consider getting it.

The Sims 5 might need a server setup (along the lines or Opensim or Second Life) in order for CC to display. Say you Paid for a dress from BrandX. It looks great on your sim but in a multiplayer session, how would other players see that outfit? The CC assets would need to reside on EA servers and the data would be sent to the other game clients. I am guessing that the multiplayer component would be an epic failure if people were forced to only use MAXIS made assets.
Now I see your point. I just imagined a TS3 or TS4 style game but some online connection would be mandatory for piracy protection. I didn't give any thought to multiplayer, that would be a hassle. Probably just easier to disable it for online play, but that might kill their sales if people can't mod the singleplayer game. Anyway, food for thought. Thanks for clearing it up for me, I wasn't sure where you were going with your argument originally. Now I understand completely :)

Lol EA is not going anywhere anytime soon. They making net BILLIONS a year. You will have plenty of time to continue hating on them. If micro transactions goes away it will hurt everyone not just EA, and EA has the reserves to buy most of them out.

Dumbasses pay for games that attract the lowest bidder and EA is the king of lowest bidders.

Not that I can criticize, I just bought a Sonic game off of Steam.

A bit old but an interesting addition. Will let you put a hatch door on basement stairs outside the building. (Haven't tried it yet but aside of stylish i expect that it will allow the basement to be considered closed for indoors lighting maybe?).
