There is already an ongoing Simplified and Traditional Chinese translation. They only cover the demo for now but should be ready for the full game by February.

We are hoping the game will be polished, tested and available in at least several languages by February, yes. Our original planned release date was in October --and while it would have been technically possible to release it next month, we don't want to rush the Q&A part, and November/December tend to be dead months for indies --players are too busy spending their money on AAA game and being broke from Christmas purchases.

And to answer your question about "Yaoi" VS "bara", that's something I'm wondering myself actually.
You see developers like Y Press Games branch into "bara" because they believe it sells better. And they probably believe it sells better after observing the success of Coming Out On Top or Full Service (are COOT and FS even bara? depends on who you ask). And then you see some Asian BL manga, games, live action dramas featuring typically pretty men selling like hotcakes despite the very vocal detractors of yaoi.

We decided to seek translators and pay them for various reasons, but it wasn't just a bunch of people coming to us and going "hey I wanna translate your game!", mind you. We had to actively look for them and pay them for the trouble. Anyway, we hope that these languages will pay for themselves once the game is fully released. And we hope that, should The Symbiant sell well, be a sign for other developers to translate their own games and broaden their audience.

about looking for a Thai translator. We also messaged Taiyo, who spread the word and kindly helped us review the applications we received (read: checked the quality of their translation) and choose our new Thai translator and editor duo.

We are now happy to announce that The Symbiant will soon be available in Thai!

Writing and Editing
Irlana finished writing the first DLC, which ended-up quite longer than originally planned...! The script was sent to Ende, our editor, for correction and polish. We also started outlining the second DLC!


Art
700HASH finished more sprite work and started working on the first CG of the DLC. We won't show them here for... uh... spoiler reasons!


Voice acting
Our audio engineer performed minor fixes for the voice clips, and Fable inserted all the voice acting into the game.


Programming

• As previously mentioned, Fable is done with the voice acting aspect of programming.
• Additionally, we worked on separating the adult dialogue and scenes from the main scripts, and into separate folders. This is an important but time-consuming process, as Steam, Google Play and other platforms may check for NSFW text or images inside the game builds even if these assets do NOT appear in the game at all.
• We are now working on the CG gallery and other extra menu features that we have yet to implement.
• Irlana will also start going over the game build for the first round of quality check.

UI
We're also adding a bunch of handy features in the Symbiant Interface. Above you can see the Scene Selection screen. This will give players a chance to:

• See all of the game outlined per scene
• See their progress in the game
• See the different branches
• Easily find and select a scene of their choice to replay

Just saw your marketing page and think I figured out why so many people inquiry about the green lady: she appears almost as frequently as all the sex candidates.
I guess you included her since she's one of the few NCPs in the game, but the advertisement media is kinda misleading.
I.E, you don't see your girl friend in COOT's cover or showcase arts.
And for most erotic games, those shown more than once are mostly candidates. There'd hv a separate section for non-date-able / non-sexable characters. Also people don't read .... but they look at arts.

And see, this is was I mean by culture shock: had we been in a BL/yaoi community, that question wouldn't have crossed anyone's mind. Because in BL you will see two girls mention they're sleeping together at best. In the 15 years I've read BL I can count the number of times I've seen Female x Female and Male x Female sex on ONE hand, and that's their number combined. And it was ALWAYS non-explicit and shown in a single page as a prop for the main Male x Male pairing.

Not that I or my friend would mind either way. It just wouldn't work with The Symbiant, and Juniper happens to be as important in Danya's life as Brahve is --she's his best friend and associate and they consider each other family, just not in the romantic or sexual sense. This is actually discussed in the game in several scenes. Also character art is fucking expensive and we don't have any $$ to spend on that lol.

That's a good point. I actually wondered a few times whether making Juniper appear on the pre-order banners would raise some eyebrows. Now I wonder whether that inquiry is specific to predominantly staight game communities like F95 or if some BL fans get confused too.

Respondents from 4chan were significantly more likely to simply say "I just didn't want to buy it" though.

I think there're two major reasons: Affordability, and Accessibility
Affordability: As obvious as that, game is a luxury that many can't afford. And since it's digital goods, there's unlimited amount and easy to obtain. Not like physical goods, nor traditional "steal".
And since it's not daily needs, if one can't get, they will just move on, further reduce the impact.

Accessibility: For the others who "Can" buy, there's a balance between convenience / effort / time / price.
If there's a universal platform that one can browse freely and easily to see the games for what they really are, a reasonable price tag, and convenient payment methods, they won't go thru the hassle of pirating.
But the fact is: 1. There's no such platform (steam comes close), especially for porn games;
2. Many games hv untruthful advertisement / presentation, some are straight up lying, this actually exists for both indie and big companies;
3. Not to mention all those "early access forever", or abandoned after collecting tons of supporting money;
4. Even if the game is promising, the "monthly patreon" price is still unreasonable for many, especially if you are interested in multiple games.
Thus might as well using this "pirating service"

Personally, I spent tons of money on video games, but I only buy "finished product that offers something I want".
If you set up a good example that you can deliver what you promised, the game is good that people care about, and buying method is convenient, I think many people would be willing to buy your game, or future games.

Time in the day is limited, many pirates just download for the sake of download, they don't really care what they've downloaded, nor ever played. These kind doesn't impact you at all.

Or I forgot there're also those who "get used to the culture" - grew up while can't afford, and now they hv the money but hv already become a pirate
