can anyone explain to me why this game is so popular? I mean the preview pictures really don't sell it for me and I doubt that the graphics get any better than this. So can anyone actually recommand this game?

It's very simple.
Pictures don't honor this game.
Because this is real 3D. While other games you see in this forum are... 3D pictures.
And even if it's messed up and requires a walkthrough and cheats to work. This is somehow a "real game". Compared to the others. They try the do visual novels with choices, some manage to make an real world you can interact with (buy stuff, make money, work etc...) but still ugly.
This game is real 3D. In most scenes you see, you can move the camera etc... All other games are jokes compared to it. From time to time, I install a game randomly to try it and see what it got. And the competition looks awful compared to The Twist.
To tell you the truth, I delete them after spending a few minutes trying them. They are just boring... No point in playing them. I could turn them into a series of pictures set, like a 3D comic.
I think game developers in this forum should stick to 3D comics. They are terrible at making games. You spend hours clicking and clicking to skip dialogues you don't care about. All they have is awful animations and 3D pictures. It's like you are trying to enjoy the work of a failed writer trying to upgrade his failed writing skills with pictures... Why?
I think this game is the gold standard in this little niche of games.
If you want to find technically better, you have to look for the Japanese games. Made by bigger studios. And if they have a lot of technology, they have no story, no character, no identity etc...
And they are awful. Just boring.
And I hate the Asian style. Like Rapelay, rape isn't sexy to me... All that mind break stories are boring to me... They make no sense. And they are okay with rape, incest etc... But genitalia is blurred. Go wrap your mind around that.
And then you have that 3D game, a huge game, honey select? Libido? Whatever... The game is a big engine to make scenes. But all they do is provide terrible game developers with a graphic engine to make pictures and design models and animations.
KST made their own style.
The Twist is balanced overall. Just look how people get excited before an update. And don't get me wrong. The game HAVE HUGE ISSUES AND PROBLEMS. Far from perfect, but good stuff anyways.
What I really look for, would be games with a real world to interact with, a deep economy, RPG elements etc... Forgot the name of that game where you manage a brothel. It was like a disguised Pokemon game. You capture creatures and make them work for you to make money and upgrade your business.
It was original.
