To be honest, the gameplay of enhancing plot immersion by discovering clues is still relevant today, and the plot is also very unique

When the developer wanted to secure duties and taxes on their game by issuing a financial obligation of their subscribers, this game got "abonded".
But you mean abandoned, but just can't spell it correctly. I don't remember it being certain why this was abandoned, though. There could be several reasons: too little money (thus why they mostly just do wallpapers these days), RL issues they haven't revealed to anyone, lack of motivation, lack of ideas on where to take the story next, etc.
I somewhat suspect that last as being the real reason: they started a Chapter 1 remake that nobody asked for instead of continuing and completing the game. I feel like they just didn't know where they were going with the story. They might have hoped the remake of Chapter 1 would buy them enough time to come up with something. When they still didn't have an idea they liked, they more or less dropped working on this to focus on wallpapers.
But again, I don't know that anyone has a certain answer for your question. If someone has a definitive answer, I'm more than happy to learn it.
