not if you understand why.. its a common thing across multiple VN's ,the f95 "abandoned" tag isn't always 100% accurate instead its like 95% on the mark.
From the games i played here, most of times that an Abandoned tag came the game ended up being abandoned at some point in the future.
Considering what ppl comment about this game dev is mostly using it to develop his skills and learn, so i would not be surprised if he actually pulls the plug on it once he gets what he wanted from it.

I dunno about him "following through." After all, following through would mean an actual update, not just saying that you're not giving up the ghost. And the dev has a financial incentive to not admit that for as long as possible.

And putting up a few slides of previews, even if they do require purchasing new assets, seems like a pretty trivial way to keep things going.

Frankly, the thing that's always stood out to me as odd about this whole affair is the idea that they were remaking the game in a new engine, and... just not releasing it. Like, why wouldn't you release the old chapters as they were completed? Surely, this switch is going to require new saves anyway, so why not let people get their progress back to the cliffhanger while you work on this nominally enormous update?

To be clear, I don't think the dev is actually trying to scam people. If anything, I'd wager the issues are a partly trouble learning new tools mid project, but mostly a mixture of ambitions far outstripping capability, and a pressure to have a more substantial update due to the time between releases. But like I said, they're not capable of delivering what they want to, so they need more time, and then more time passes, so the update needs to be even bigger, but uh-oh, can't deliver on that either, so now even more time is needed, which means an even bigger update, and OH, GOD! It's an ouroboros of failure and self-sabotage!

That said, I also can't fault anyone, especially people paying them, if they feel scammed at this point. It's easier for me to just see incompetency here, because I didn't give the dev money. If I was a monthly subscriber hearing the same song and dance over and over and getting a few slides here and there, I'd probably feel differently when my goodwill was finally sapped.
Yeah, I get it. The thing here though is that no one is being forced to pay the dev, so any financial argument falls flat to me.

TLDR:

The Dev figured out a way to solve an issue with clothing assets and he's going to be spending some time coming up with new outfits for several characters.

That's the long and short of it. There isn't an ETA, and there's no indication about how much progress has been made with the update, whether the end is in sight, or anything like that.

Honestly just cannot believe it's been two years since the last release. Where does the time go? Doesn't feel that long ago...

because its normal for VN's to take 4-6 months for a update,in some cases a year......

I think I'm perpetually stuck in the 2019ish time frame when most of the popular ADV's were throwing out an update on average every 1-2 months. It was rare to see one with a hiatus longer than 3 months. But that still doesn't change the fact my perception of time is flying by.

Didn't know we look for new record breaker thought
Well, Icstor is up there also. But, he's a kitten compared to GD. BD is a tiny mouse compared to Icstor.

So both didn't release anything worthwhile... also ''finished'' more like abandoned with some extremely rushed ending...didn't hear anything about his new project thought.

This much is fair. I'm on the discord and the dev is active. He himself states that this is one of those updates that got away from him, but he isn't abandoning, he's taking his time and making it work. He's putting it material for previews regularly. Sometimes, scale creep happens, but at least he's following through, you know?
The problem is the developer painted himself into a corner by scope-creeping the game's narrative.

The game's release pace was rapid when the project had 3 primary love interests and revolved around effectively establishing/maintaining relationships with 3 princesses while avoiding suspicion from the King / other court members.

The story is now about becoming king, establishing your rule in various provinces, politics, diplomacy and trade between rival factions, with their own LIs... The problem here is clearly not the production pipeline for renders, but rather the complexity and scope of the narrative, which makes it difficult to plan or write scenes because there are too many things that could happen, too many branches, and no clear direction for the narrative.

The developer's statements about the game aren't inspiring any confidence that he actually wants to address this problem, so unfortunately it's probably done for as a game.

This game is dead. I wish someone would make one with a similar setting. This game was one of my favorites and I curse the entire bloodline of the dev(plus the pets) for abandoning it .
The Patreon page is still updating. Oh well. I didn't pay to see what the updates are though.
