Feels like a coin toss to me. On the one hand, yeah, not being able to see what progress is being made without paying doesn't seem like an attractive prospect.

On the other hand, I think that the lack of updates makes it clear what progress has been made, and if you could read the devlogs without paying, there'd be a risk of noticing the copy-paste-esque nature of them essentially talking about all the great but invisible strides this project has seen.

That's a shame. I'm a financial supporter of many developers. But I don't support devs that procrastinate and lock everything behind a paywall. I really enjoy the story but the means in which the dev is going about it is pathetic in my opinion.

I really doubt it's the branching what the problem is here...
Also you have one big harem, if you want, if you reject the girls you won't get the scene, that's all...there really isn't much in terms of paths or branching until now.

It wasn't revamping the game that was the problem. It was changing to a different rendering engine, from Daz to Unreal, mid-development, that killed it. Prior to the engine change, the dev was consistent with delivering chonky updates on a regular schedule. After the change...things ended up where they are now.

One of the more recent dev logs talked about how he was getting some new gear and that he was going to be playing around with some new features to implement. "Looks like the project keeps growing, ha ha now I need to code and render even more!" then posted some images of girls in different outfits. Same old shit, really. One of his patreons did outright ask him for at the very least to give a rough estimate for when the release might be done, if it would come this year etc....ITRoy just ignored him.
