To be honest, I prefer downloading the latest full version, instead of update-patching them.
However, I make sure to NOT delete the older game folder, untill I've played in the new game folder. That way, the saves transfer automatically and everything's peachy

HOW TO DECODE THE VERSION NUMBER

The version number is composed of three groups of digits.

Example: 51 09 2

51= Percentage completion of the update version.
09 = Month of release. (September)
2 = Second release of the month

First release is on the 1st of the month. Second release is on the 15th of the month.
