Yeah, agree with you. My problem occured because I was following the walkthrough (.pdf) instead of the crystal after missing a small detail before and the walkthrough doesn't mention to bring the maca plant to emily at all (~page 40). After replaying this part I stuck to the crystal and everything went smooth from there. This is a really good hint system, the only need for a more in depth walkthrough is needed from time to time for solving some puzzles I don't get.

As in many other incest games, it is slowly being abandoned, with each update getting closer and closer to this goal longed for by many. Now we're at 46%. I guess at about 75%, 80% this really starts. That's just my guess. And I wouldn't be surprised if I'm wrong.
How is this "unable to play" expressed? is the game blocked? Or what's wrong?
So what are you playing with? PC, Android, update? compiled?
I suspect: play the full version on a PC. And then this will work.

If you do the Squallmart secret combo, you'll have enough money to buy literally everything available and still have at least a couple millions left.
Having said that, I recommend keeping a separate save file before doing so, because
- There's no need to buy everything at this point of the game.
- Occasionally, some of the items become cheaper to buy with new releases.

Honestly, I think it's more laziness rather than lack of intelligence. You see examples of this everywhere in real life - the co-worker who constantly asks you to walk him through a procedure rather than look it up himself in the manual, the child who can't get through a night of homework without asking the parent for the answer, just to name a couple.
It's just a lot more glaring when you see it in a thread such as this.
They do it because they know there will always be someone who will give them the answer. It makes no difference that the answer is sitting on the previous page of posts since it's easier to just post their question and come back later for the answer.

Your point is well taken but not everyone in this thread has followed this game since it first came out a year ago. I've only "discovered" this game fairly recently and it appears that a lot of other folks have as well. I think both our points have merit and it can be argued that the reason for the constant asking of the same question is probably a smattering of both.
Regardless, annoying as it is, this will never stop until people stop giving the answers, thus forcing the lazy / unintelligent posters to look up the answers themselves.
Then again, the entire point of a thread such as this is to help each other out, so it's really a slippery slope. I don't envy the moderators since they're really in a "damned if they do, damned if they don't" position.
