No need for initial money makings... although you can combine talisman grind with massage parlor stuffs + squallmart safe... but the major income will still be delivered through talisman sells... You need approximately 4 million to buy everything there is from start to finish so playing the game in the right order and completing all side quests will leave you with less than an hour of grind in the northeastern region of deep jungle ! I think that's manageable to be fair !

^ Everything is explained in-game through the story, so actually playing the game will fix all that stuff you listed. If barely playing the game is too hard for you, there's a bunch of walkthroughs laying around you can peruse that'll guide you step-by-step from v01 to infinity
Well the only thing I've done is modify the config file to add a taboo twist and I'm fairly certain that's not causing it.
