don't replace the full game download with your old game download.....make a new folder.....the only thing you might need to do is copy over the save file.
Same thing... extracted the game to a new folder, ran the game, continued from save game... doesn't work :/
If you can begin a new game and it plays properly it's not your game. if you can load and play an old game with a save file it might just be a quirk of the programming. Evie isn't always 100% helpful if you haven't played the game linearly. Try moving to another location and see if she's more forthcoming. If the guide keeps telling you the same thing take stock of where you are and seek advice as per what you might be able to do to move forward. Inquire hereabouts and/or download a walkthrough from the first page of this thread; there may be something you need to do to progress that the guide isn't telling you about which you can discover externally. Other than that you may have corrupted saves which might have to be abandoned and begin the game again from scratch or pick up the threads by using a clean save file belonging to an earlier version of ToN as near as possible to where you left off. (Alpine Eagle is the go to guy for such things.) If you've hacked, patched or modded the game or edited and changed your saves that's more than likely what has buggered everything up. Hacking, modding and cheating a game this good is really only for those with the limpest of limp dicks, too limp in fact for even Emily Garner's or Amanda Bancroft's love potions to be able to revive.

Quick question: Did you, by chance, use the incest patch in the previous version? If so, add it to the new version. You get the nag screen about file mods but the saves should work again.

I always checked the Soul Crystal. So if I collected all (Hearts, Pages, Booty Calls, Outfits, Treatments and Massages) that is definitevely all done with the version I curently played.
We were talking about the background behind Janet in the top panel not the bottom panel. If you look closely behind Janet in the top panel you can see a flash of blue to her lower left from an object on a desk, corner of a picture frame (top left), and bars of an exercise machine behind her which match up with those in the the room the MC occupied when a member of her household. (The BG-House-BonusRoompng.png file in the www/img/pictures folder shows this clearly when decrypted.) Hence the conclusions about Janet and the MC meeting in that room during the next episode on which I would bet the farm.
