You need at least 2/3 of the "possessive" choices in the last few events.

For example "Not so you can dance with anyone else", telling her not to visit, or not show off to the workers.

Alternatively, the gallery always shows the maximum coomer ending.

Yeaaaah, in the description for the game, it draws parallels to Harvey Weinstein and definitely doesn't make the MC sound like a swell guy who cares about the personal well-being of the women he's with.


If you do want something where you're less of an asshole that will damn all those around him from his own arrogance and self-centeredness, the devs' other game Out of Touch seems to have more healthy and loving relationships than this.

Tropicali in a sense feels like a big advertisment for Out of Touch.

Tropicali's canon ending aka the harem ending (let's be real here this is the canon ending) left the majority with a bad taste in their mouth. Mind you I liked the ending.
It doesn't neccessarily need to be all happy flower sunshine but then again the ending was not so doom and gloom as people make it out to be.....but I digress.

The only answer you will get when you ask on their discord, patreon or on here about a "proper" harem ending for Tropicali is "Just go play Out of Touch".... or getting laughed at. Those weird reactions from Story Anon aside the answer you get is "Go play Out of Touch".

I mean yeah cool, ok I guess but then after 100 chapters and completing this insanely big project... which will take another 5-6 years to finish....

I 100% expect then a happy end with proper closure. No open ending. No loose threads, No questions unanswered and No bittersweet stuff.
If Out of Touch is Story Anons golden child then I sure hope for him, Snow, Birds and his patreons that he will deliver on exactly that.

Time will tell I guess.

Look, on one hand the story is fine. It works great on a first viewing and it's hilarious. It's not the best thing since sliced bread, but it's fine, no need to bitch about it.

On the other hand, some people are leaving less than glowing reviews because they didn't get what they came for (heh). And quoting one of the introductory lines saying how the MC will make things worse for the girls doesn't help. First of all because you being able to make things worse doesn't preclude you from making things better. And indeed you can make things better for most girls. You can "fix" them, just not with your dicks, and we wanted to fix them with our dicks, you know, like players playing a porn game. And secondly because it's still not what the players came for. I can explain to you for hours how pineapple on pizza makes the pizza better, most people still won't want me to put a slice of pineapple on their pizza. It's just not what the people want. Players playing a porn game want choice and they want to fuck the girls. Having the moral choice being the dicking or undicking of the girls is not what they want. The happy ends in case of undicking are also slightly bullshit.

Long story short, Kaoru/Jessica/Laoise's good endings are kind of a Deus Ex Machina while Gloria's bad ending is kind of a Diabolus Ex Machina. Which doesn't help.

While we're at it, there is also a slight issue with the tags. "Mind Control" and to a lesser extent "Corruption" appear in the tags, but not in the spoiler part of the "Genre" section of the opening post. And indeed I would argue that there is close to nothing in terms of both Mind Control and Corruption (a tad more on the corruption, but meh). So people who come and download the game for those genres are going to be disappointed.

The game is good. I like it. It's a 4.5 rounded up to a 5. But the people angry at the ending are not morons who can't read and coming out with nonsensical expectations. The criticisms ARE valid. There ARE issues with the endings and (most of) the choices ARE fake. The game DOES introduce a lot of exciting concepts and the likes but does not really explore them. All of that is true. Take it on the chin and move on.

Objectivity in reviews is a crap shoot. Outside of grammatical errors, what is 'objectively bad' writing? Again, I just advocated that so long as the review is more than just 'I don't like X kink', it's doing pretty alright by the standards of F95. Nobody in the reviews here is a 'professional' eroge games journalist or reviewer, and holding them to some idealized standard is less than helpful. If they want to put into writing and make a case for why the writing was bad? Have at it. If they can make that case, you'll see it in the review. If they cannot, then their review will ring hollow.

TL;DR - The star rating is crap, but individual reviews can be more or less useful.


Nobody cares, see above. Also some of my favorite games ever had really mid Metacritic reviews, and mainstream AAA slop get a cavalcade of unchallenging glowing reviews from 'professional' outlets all the time. The best you can do is find a reviewer on your wavelength whose opinion you find insightful, and work from there.

Ain't nobody here missing a publisher bonus payment cause their F95 star rating was too low...

For like maybe the first 2~3 pages if sorted by rating, and even then you can find some duds. Once you're into the 4.5 and below waters, all bets are off. There is a metric fuck-ton of shit that reaches north of 4 stars almost entirely on the back of catering to specific fetishes. The star ratings are already flooded with 1 and 5 star rating based entirely on how much someone likes the fetishes, but with a bit of fluff to pad out the minimum character limit. There is zero screening for quality in the reviews themselves, so it is a case of GIGO - Garbage In, Garbage Out. You can't trust the inputs (reviews), so your shouldn't trust the outputs (star rating). Giving one person a hard time isn't going to ameliorate the situation.

One of those rules is 'you can't name other games', so right off the bat the foundations of the reviews here are fundamentally flawed. Comparative analysis is verboten. I don't know why you are demanding some mythic unobtainable objectivity from a site with review rules this fucked from the start.

So what if people don't like how the story turned out? That's their opinion, and they're free to share it. Anybody who reads the reviews and themselves cannot tell the difference between someone having a hissy fit and someone trying to be objective? That's on them. Not perfectly objective mind you, because you know (or maybe you don't in this case), literally everyone has biases and the point of reviews is not to just remove all said biases and turn reviews into the unified output of unfeeling objective automatons.

Media Literacy: It doesn't just apply to books, movies, and games; but also to reviews for such things!

So, for instance, there is no such thing as 100 percent objectivity, no matter if we talk about reviews for porn games or even the courts of law. But that we cannot achieve 100 percent objectivity doesn't mean that there is no value in striving for objectivity or that, for instance, 80 percent objectivity isn't better than 0 percent objectivity, be that we are talking about porn game reviews or the judicial process.

In the same way, the rating system will never be perfect and we will never achieve the sort of precision that means that a game rated 3.9 will always be better than a game rated 3.8. But once more, that doesn't mean the rating system says absolutely nothing. As I pointed out before, as a general trend I think it works fine, most very highly rated games are at least decent and virtually no lowly rated games are good.

Finally, I don't know where you get the "kink shaming" from. Saying you don't like a certain kink is not shaming and the only way you could say that a review claiming something is bad for containing a certain fetish is kink shaming, is if you assume that the review is meant as some sort of objective truth. But since you reject that completely, I don't see why you care about this supposed "kink shaming" either.

You can try to blame it on this website for setting unrealistic expections but you still have to ask yourself these questions. If that was the goal all along then why wait until the end to spring it on the audience? Why not have events 1-9 for each girl better reflect the true objective? Why not have him at least think stuff like "Tropicali a pit stop for the dead? This bitch is loco, no wonder all her friends left. Thank god for that ass." as he whispers all these sweet nothings to them?

Even if you think that harems are inherently wrong, it's still not sensibly written. There is a clear mismatch of themes here.

But that's the point. The game doesn't wait to spring it on the player until the end. You are told outright from the very beginning over and over again that the MC will ruin the lives of the LIs. And on top of that, the actions of the MC and the reasons given for the actions are many times exploitative, self serving and callous. But you don't see that because he holds hands and look up into the night sky.

You seem to be saying that a corrupting bad guy basically needs to be a comic book villain, because if he isn't, people will not get the message. Me, I like the nuance and ambiguity.

And I don't know if I blame it so much on the websites as I blame it on the hordes of women hating incels who populate forums like these, but having expectations of a happy ending in a harem game is like having expectations of a happy ending in a rape game. I'm not saying that there should not be games that cater to these preferences, but I am saying it is kind of weird to expect it to be norm. And, in this particular game, it is not just the harem in itself, but so much more.

My brother in Christ, it's user reviews on a pirate eroge game site. The only standard is 'does the reviewer have a pulse'.

There is no QA, and you cannot impose it on others. Your best tool is, and remains, your own media literacy. You need to be able to read a review and determine for yourself if the contents are worthwhile or not.

Counter Point: This isn't MetaCritic, there isn't a curated weighted aggregate score from people trying to be professional or objective. This is the worst version of Amazon or Temu user reviews (with the added caveat that you cannot mention anything comparable in your review, it is verboten), exacerbated by the fact that the vast majority of people posting reviews are thirsty dipshits.

That's probably on me, in that I was struggling for a more concise way to say 'don't review tank based on kinks you don't like', so as to flippantly summarize what you said for comedic effect.

Which, back to the original person in question, they weren't planning to do. They didn't enjoy the ending, and wanted to give it a 1 star. I said to go ahead, so long as they had something worth saying they could back up with more than 'just because'. After that, your response to me was...

"Nah, people shouldn't down rate games just because the game contains fetishes they don't like."

Which is largely how we got here, because I've been genuinely flabbergasted by your responses this whole time...

Just got done playing the game. and I have to say, 9/10 it's great for what it is. The game is completed that already puts it above almost half the game's here. and its quality in every other aspect is well above 95% plus of the rest of the koi based games.
