Oh, and I almost forgot -- Why is there copyrighted music in this game?

I'm sure that won't lead to any potential legal conflict or anything...
Just sayin'

Maybe read the changelog? I know, it's a forum afterall, but this question wasnt needed...
But to answer for your question : Because it's reworked in 3D
I've read the changelog and follow the public patreon posts for a while now, so I have an idea what's going on, the only question was why backtracking on the version, if (probably) all the content is possible already done that was up to update 0.8. That's all.

The dev decided to reinvent the wheel while train is trying to move forward. When he's implemented all the old scenes, he's promised to make the train ride a virtual experience.
So he hasn't finish redoing the stuff he already done?

Because the 0.8 version isn't the same as 0.1 one. One is called TwoSides and other one is TwoSides3D.

So he hasn't finish redoing the stuff he already done?
Not even close.

its nice to see a developer, who is publicly funded, completely ignoring the public and sticking up 2 fingers :D

rare short updates and buggy gameplay now being turned back on itself to be reworked with rare short updates and buggy gameplay.....yay

well... yeah that happened.
jumped from approx. an hour playable content to 5 minutes playable content with a tiny little bit amount of wierd animations, instead of just pictures, in 7 months.
trying to make the game look better at the expanse of time and content is NOT worth.

if you want to wait another 2 years for some actual content it's your call guys, but the game is dead for me.

For the unity part, that was kind of part of my point, for the game to run smoothly, you need to nuke rendering. Like The Twist, game runs pretty well, but the rendering is borderline, same goes for every other Unity game.

For your RenPy comment, come on man, there is no such thing as perfect code, it requires iterations after iterations and an increase in scope means a complete optimization pass, to get to said perfect code, and very few RenPy games that get large are optimized. You've got quite a few RenPy games that just eat CPU power, especially the larger games that end up with a ton of variables for every little thing. Max's Life is my most notorious one right now, that game is just a mess when it comes to the code. Use a Processor usage tracker (more than task manager so it can keep data for a few hours), and run various RenPy games and see what happens. Some aren't demanding (most of them are linear games).
Are you serious? There is no rendering in this game... idk why you keep talking about rendering...

Oh wait, never mind you're just another dumb person that hates on Unity for no reason and think you can't have good looking games with Unity. must be fake right? Because it's absolutely impossible to have resource-intensive games that look good and run well in Unity right?

The graphics and performance of this game have nothing to do with Unity and only the developer. Also variables in RenPy have nothing to do with the CPU so I'm just not going to bother responding to the rest of your post.

This game had a good promising start but almost everything he had in the old game could have been done in Ren'Py.
Now I have not been following this guy much because his updates were slow as shit, not that I mind updates being slow if the amount of content produced matches the time span imo BUT...Being on 0.8 and then going back to the exact thing you had before, just I don't know man release a demo get some feedback if people don't like it either move on back to where you was or start up a different engine. When I hear about the don't want to use ren'py because I want to add more "freedom" or whatever and you do not exactly have the skills to back it up and now you are just tinkering and experimenting sounds like the worst possible idea again in MY opinion.

Not saying it is so but I get the feeling he had some idea's that he wanted to implement, He was not exactly happy with what he has made so far and the route it took. So this seems like an excuse to start over while trying to buy time as to see how and where he wants to take his story etc etc.
There was a RPGM game that had like tons of remake of the same game till it gone ren'py and still we have not gotten shit done from it, I think it was called New Path's or whatever, gave up on that so hard because the story got remade and rehashed so many times it just kills any interest at this point because people want to add so many bunch of pointless shit in the game. When people play games like these sure story and some nice mechanics are welcome to some extent but at the end of the damn day they there for the porn and to rub a few out.

We have a remade done fucking well recently that is from Fashion Business, I HATED the rpgm version because of you not being able to skip shit and having almost no content and at the end of the day wasted like 4 hours for nothing, now with the ren'py out we have the same game same story bit expended in 3 ep's and continued with the new content from ep 4 and on, in my opinion THIS game (fashion business) was done right. The Creator took ren'py and still managed to make an amazing game out of it with plenty of features to it.

It's dude like these that make it hard for me to support them and I am all for supporting the smaller dev's out there to help it till they get bigger then I move to another one. But because of people like this guy and New Path's creator, Dual Family creator and etc that I am more and more having a hard time wondering if it is worth giving these people a dime.
