Sorry going to pile on. Advertising a demo aint it on a torrent site my dude, and a sure fire way to get people to blacklist the game rather than stir up talk about it. This isnt steam.

Personally, I don't have a problem with devs giving early access of new updates to supporters and then releasing it to the public after some amount of time. But as others have said, posting an incomplete version or a demo, especially on a pirate site, is not the way to go. The best avenue to making money from this is to build up trust by releasing quality updates consistently and making the best game you can, and unfortunately, it also involves getting absurdly lucky. Unlike others, I'm not going to give up on the game from this, but I would strongly suggest a course correction. There's no shame in admitting and fixing a mistake, but if you let something like this fester, it won't turn out well for you guys.

As a Dev of this game, I wanna make it clear, that we're hearing the criticism. We're making changes going forward and I'll speak candidly myself on this matter as well. We'll make a public announcement soon as well. Just want everyone to understand that we care and aren't "greedy developers."

Thank you for those that care about our game. We'll comment soon.

I don't know why devs do this to themselves.

I get wanting to make money but as i've pointed out many, many, many times now this isn't a career option. Sure some devs make bank but they either built that up over time or got lucky.

It takes time to build a decent player base and the best way to do that is to build trust with those you already have and yet I see devs fuck this up time and again trying to chase the money and it never works.

As soon as you do something that turns off the fanbase your chances of building up are screwed. There is no shortcuts here, you either put in the work and build up naturally or rush in and damage your chances.

I really enjoyed this game, I had high hopes in it building up into something great.

You even said you know people don't like this paywalling practice yet you went and did it anyway.

All I can say now is good luck, you're gonna need it but I don't like your chances.
You are 100% right about this. We're gonna make an announcement soon on this matter. We will be making changes going forward. And we also want to explain why we did what we did.

If anyone cared or liked our game, we don't want people to feel negatively about it.

I didn't know you played our game Avaron :) Thanks for playing and sorry for this mess.

Hello everyone. We’re going to say it directly. We apologize for the paywalling of our content. We’re not gonna defend the decision, rather, we’re gonna quickly explain why we made this decision. Then we’ll tell you what we’re planning to do in the future.

To explain our decision, it’s pretty simple, it was the plan to originally just put it to patreon first for those that support us, just like everyone else. Then, we’d release the update eventually on F95zone for all of you all to play.

However, along the way we were looking at ways that we could still have something to tide those that like our game, but can’t support us. One of the ideas was to create extra content for those only patreon. Something like extra paths. We had a conversation between the two of us and decided that would be paywalling of content. Then we saw what other devs were doing and thought maybe a demo would be a good way to preview our content without making it feel like there was an extra option that only Patrons had access to.

So, we decided maybe this was something that wouldn’t make people upset. Clearly, we were wrong, and for that, we apologize.

Now, for the future, we will not be doing demo’s anymore. We are going to do the normal thing and just release it on patreon. Then a few weeks later, we release it on F95zone. That was always the idea, but we clearly didn’t make the right decision.

We had some people join us, and we do NOT want to betray them. So, we can’t just release it now. We’ve decided that we will release it next week completely for free.

And for the people that DID support us, as a way of paying you back for your generosity and trust, we will create a small scene for you guys with the girls of the game. Something non-canonical that evokes the fun of our game and the depth of our characters. Probably in some kind of pool maybe? ;)

Once again, we want to apologize for betraying people’s expectation of our game. Know that we didn’t want to disillusion anyone. We’re gonna make it up to those that like it by releasing it a week earlier and for those that joined us, we will give you an extra treat soon as well. Thank you so much for listening to us.

Have a fantastic day all!

Don't know what to think of this update since it's a blink and that new "chapter 5" is done.
Also the same with the saves, none worked.

Well, we have another dev trying a paywalled release (calling it demo/preview is only a nice excuse). We will see how the croud is liking that...
Aaaaaand there goes another promising game onto blacklist.

F95 is NOT an advertising site. Either full version, or none. Guess it's none over here. Enough other games to follow.
(imho there should be a rule against Demo/promo/advertising versions on F95)

PS:
I can understand when devs don't release content over here themself because they want to monetarize (we do the same btw).
BUT - IF - just saying IF a dev releases content over here himself, it should be the full content, and not only advertising and teasing.

Hopefully a true hero leaks the full version.
I guess this should have been an attempt to gain supporters. As stated already F95zone is NOT A SITE FOR PAYWALLED ADVERTISING. This will completely backfire. Calling that a demo or something else only makes it worse.

Well, for me it did exactly the opposite of what was probably intended. Unwatched from now on.
Nope. Deceptive practice. Pure and simple.(n)
welp im happy i read the comments, not going to download this if it has a paywall and i agree this isnt a site for advertising/paywalled that is why i come here and the games i like the most i go and fund them on whatever site they are on like patreon

this game is promising and I enjoyed it but yeah, this will fail if he keeps this predatory and unfair paywalls, just starting to build the fanbase and you already trying to milk some milk. well, goodluck for you.
My fault for not reading the changelog before downloading and wasting my data cap. I'm making a note to wait 3 more updates and see if this ends up actually being the trainwreck that it appears to be.
Man, talk about shooting yourself in the foot right out of the gate. I find it sad but it seems some devs need to learn from making the same identical mistakes other devs made. As Avaron1974 said very clearly, as soon as you do something that turns off the fanbase your chances of building up are pretty much screwed. It's sad to see something with potential (apart from the constant and annoying laughing audio) being jeopardized right from the start because I really enjoyed playing the demo. All I can do is wish good luck to the dev(s) and hope things turn out the way you hope.
I understand wanting to make money out of your work, but this is absolutely NOT the right place to try to peddle a paywalled version of your game. This is NOT an advertisement website.

I don't get why so many devs try this. This will have the exact opposite effect to what you're hoping: you'll end up review bombed, and a lot of people here will lose interest.

If you look at the all the games that have huge Patreon support here, you'll notice that they all started with constant and consistent updates, and no paywall. They only start doing the delayed free updates after they have built a large following.

So, you might wanna reconsider your decision to paywall your game. You'll be much better off.

much appreciate your reaction - and it's a plus that you are able to listen.
Nothing wrong with release it early on patreon by letting people know they get it 1-2 weeks later for free. Some devs also don't do early access, but release on patreon only and give the last update for free. But you should be clear about what timespan. Just "eventually" isn't precise enough. It's same as the famous saying: "release is SOON" ;)

But once again: i really appreciate your response.

I for one applaud you on handling this the right way. You took ownership of your faults and explained the situation concisely. Without making excuses I might add. And for that I will support you now.

Oh, remember there are a lot of whiners on here. Don't ignore them, but don't take it to heart. Think of it like constructive feedback. Just like you did this time :D

I'll have your back if they berede you unfairly. But if you fuck up I will slap your pee pee...with constructive feedback.

WTF did I just play? You guys should change the title of this game to “A Simps Life” or “Pussy Whipped Boy” maybe these devs are cucks or simps in real life which is fine and that’s why they made this game for them and Joshy but I can’t play as this wimpy ass pathetic bitch boy gentleman pussy mc. He should be swimming in milf pussy but instead he cries about his feelings, dude man the fuck up and get laid already and tell that ex ho to stay the fuck out of your life and don’t try to pity party us with her dying sister either.
when you look up definition of simp, it should have his face

Maybe it's an age thing, but if someone uses "simp" seriously and with conviction while talking about something, my brain pretty much ignores the rest of what they have to say. Same with "cuck" and "beta".
I think I see all these terms and definitions like the Justicar in Mass Effect. "I like humans. They are so interesting. If there are 3 humans in the same conversation there will be 6 different opinions." Jus' Sayin'

The thing is, we talk about things before doing them. Sometimes we have good ideas, sometimes bad. This was one of the bad ones. There is no reason to fight it when we're wrong. No matter what the intention was, it still wasn't the best move.

We appreciate the feedback even if it's negative. All we can hope for is that people care about the characters we make. I joined the team as writer cause I HAD to write Lisa's story. I'm happy that we can bring to life what we envisioned :D

Updated my Android port of Unexpected Opportunity to v0.5.

Got some basic gestures loaded in: swipe up for save menu, swipe down to hide UI, swipe left to rollback and swipe right to skip. Save files are now stored in the Documents folder. This sometimes means that you may need to close and re-open the port after installing so the save folder is properly created.

Please let me know if you encounter any issues with the port and I'll see what I can do to get them sorted.
