Just an update, the same just happend on Honey Select. The game startet, but as soon as I clicked the character creator the PC just turned off. Maybe something to do with Unity engine?
What is your amount of swap and your amount of RAM?
8gb swap and 8gb RAM. I runned the game multiple times before, with no problems. All of a sudden that started to happen. The only difference is that I change my monitor. The old one had a HDMI input, and the current one doesn't, so I use a HDMI/VGA adapter. But that doesn't cause any issues with no other game.
My video card is a RX480 8GB Vram.
I've done the update to 1.20, but now my Easy Mate IV is not working anymore, especially the plugins for spanking, moans and so on which was one of the best features to make your dolls alive.
How to update Easy Mate? Is there an updater or what is the neweset version? My EM IV was a whopping 22 GB, and I had to use a torrent for this much stuff.
I miss my Easy Buttons so much!

Does it work with Oculus Quest 2? I have SideQuest and Virtual Desktop. Also is it a good game for playing scenes to replace VR porn or is it only interactive?
What are the advantages/disadvantages of just extracting all the vars from the Addonpackage folder and distributing them into the custom/save folders?
I imagine it would solve the duplicate morph and plugin problems but would it create missing files/errors when loading scenes. Would it speed up load times?
Just weighing up the pros and cons.

It does (assuming you mean stream from PC, and make no mistake, you need a good computer to play it in VR), both with Virtual Desktop and Oculus Link, as for replacing VR porn that is entirely up to you, you can do anything in this but it's all down to how much effort you're willing to put in, i often refer VaM as high effort jerk off sessions as it takes time to set up if you wanna do it yourself, you can just download finished scenes which takes no effort though, but yeah, it's all more or less interactive in that you will be able to move and touch stuff, even in the free version.
Whatever I try to download from the VaM Hub, is only getting "queued", but not actually loaded.
What is going on? Why isn't it downloading anything, just putting on "queued"? How to get the process going on?

When I go from Va; to the inbuilt VaM Hub, no matter what I try to download, it only gets "queued", but never downloaded.
Any ideas what goes wrong here?
Could someone explain to me why this game is so gpu and cpu "consuming"? with a rtx2080s I get 70% gpu and 85% cpu usage in a scene with two actors

I set my User Preference to 'Max', and now my game will load forever, not giving me access to the menu to change it back!
I'm literally excluded from Vam by this.
How to get to the menu now and change it back to 'High'? In the opening scene it does something with my storage forever, but I just won't get to open menu.

I hope the best for version 2.0, because in its current form almost no scene can be played properly in VR. If you set the quality so reasonably well everything is stuttering and very slow and uncomfortable. And if you turn the settings down, it looks ugly. And that with an i9 9900K, 32Gb Ram and a 1080Ti.

What is the correct way or quickest way to swap between character selection in a scene? I seem to fumble around the options and by luck do it occasionally, but its not completely obvious. (Say for example I download and install a scene with two characters that I want to change clothing for or adjust ect...)

Optimization is basically non-existent. It's semi-intentional; optimization when under active development can be really tricky. It's also a classic problem of software development when the program is in users hands. If they took a month to help push system requirements down, it wouldn't make for very exciting patch notes. That's something that literally all developers deal with.
These files usually come as .vac or .var, which I think are actually just renamed zip files with some special structure. That being said, you can unpack that zip into your VAM folder and you should be good to go. What does the internal file structure of it look like?
Also, where'd you get that model? Seems great.
If you select any node for a person atom, in the upper right of the menu, there'll be a "select root" button that will...well, select the root atom. If you want to select a specific node, in the main toolbar, there's a button that looks like a mouse cursor, which will bring you to a list of all the scene's atoms and their child nodes. Also, something I had to be told recently; if you press the button on the main toolbar that looks a bit like a crosshair, it will vanish all inactive nodes, which can help greatly in selecting specific nodes out of a crowded environment.

I have this same issue, people may not be aware of this though. I have found it occurs after say several downloads of different scenes ect.
The way I resolved it, was to quit the app and restart.
I tend to use the desktop mode to download the content I want, then run it in VR mode afterwards.

Im running 1.20, but im not sure if there is another update or not, or if i need to run the update again to get the following, but I seem to not be able to see within the programme, some scenes that are apparently available.
For example, this one here is a free screne thats apparently available, but it doesnt come up in the search within VAM.
