However, I also think it's good to intellectually engage with stories through criticism, rather than merely passively consuming them. And part of criticism is recognizing and understanding how and why bits of a story are misogynist (or racist, or homophobic, etc. but I'll stick with misogyny for my example), and how our society shapes these stories.
I'm honestly not sure whether that really applies to this NSFW genre in general. I'm pretty sure that many players just want to play something and don't want engage any further. It's like eating fast food, you do it because it's good, comfortable and because you enjoy it, while you don't want to think about the troubles that are connected to it in any shape or form. It would simply ruin most people's mood...

It's debatable whether that's good or bad but I kinda actively refuse to scrutinize every detail just for the sake of it. I'd probably agree with you a bit more if more devs put actual effort into their stories, but I don't think it's actually productive to engage, given how "off the cuff" most stories are and how little thought many devs put it them. Often situations simply arise because a dev wants to get scene X into his next update and looks for the quickest way to get that done.
Not to be rude but I haven't kept up with development and with such a quality game I expected it to be...hmmm...faster?
In these kind of games you usually either get quality or quick releases. So I'm not really sure where your expectation comes from?

Hi, woman with a rape fetish here, who is also a survivor. I don't wanna go too deep into it cause it's super off topic (WaL isn't going anywhere near there, despite my criticisms of it not being perfect on the subject of consent) but the rapebait genre presents a false reality around what rape is, why it happens, and under what circumstances (hint, almost all rape is performed by someone the victim knows and trusts), and this false narrative is ultimately one that protects the rapists in real life from consequences. (Not the only factor, of course. But that people don't believe you when you tell your story unless it matches The Narrative they expect is a pretty major one.)

That's the main reason I call it misogynist. I still get off to it anyway, so. Just because it appeals to folks like me doesn't mean it's not built on a misogynist framework.

The amount of logical and ethical questions related to a fantasy role playing porn game it's too damn high.

Why can't you people just enjoy things? Especially free things.

If you don't like something, just move on...
Grab yer cocks and toss yer salads people it's that easy.

Don't think about it JUST DO IT!

I don't disagree, and I'm not at all trying to say that stories like that are necessarily bad: I enjoy plenty of them, Zombie's Retreat was one of my faves for example (though, that's more of a function of ScarlettAnn's art being amazing than anything). I also enjoy WEGs in other genres that I criticize as being deeply misogynist, like slave trainers (Four Elements Trainer, Free Cities), brothel management sims (Something Unlimited), or "You play a female character who gets raped constantly" (Noxian Nights, Claire's Quest, Degrees of Lewdity).
What is WEG in this context? Definitely not Wicked/Wide Evil Grin. White Emo Girls? Probably not.

Hi everybody.
This week's report will be short, and the only bit of news we have is that we have passed 90% completion in doing the main content of the next release, which is super exciting!
Weekly report:
Chestnut and I worked according to the plan and have edited everything leading up to the second sex scene, which includes drawing cutscenes, new hands, and the sex art, as well as writing new dialogues, coding them in, and posing and animating a few elements from cutscenes leading up to the sex. I'm almost done with the sex animation itself and plan to have the frames ready for tonight. I think it looks neat and I hope you'll like it too. Chestnut will spend tomorrow and the day after that fixing the frames, polishing them, and drawing bodily fluids. Then I'll add the final version of the images in the game files.
Next week's plan:
As soon as we're completely done with the second sex scene (probably Sunday), we'll test and plan changes/improvements for the events leading up to the third sex scene. Our plan is to have the third sex animation and everything before that ready by the next weekend.
That's all.
Have a wonderful weekend
Cheers
P.S. Since we're working on the sexy stuff or scenes that are very spoilery, it's been a bit difficult to record videos to share. But there will be a video tomorrow, Saturday.

Question: can you play this fullscreen on secondary monitor?
My main monitor is portrait mode for work stuff...
Is there maybe an .ini or something I can tweak?

I think I missed the previous conversations but what exactly do you consider to be misogynist? Just curious.

Yup love the art style for this one its really one of the best for this.

Dialogue's a bit too goofy for my tastes so far, but nothing horrible. Enjoyable.

Honestly, the dialogue is one of the highlights of the game.
Consider other games where the writers "think" they're funny, only its not. Its not funny, it's cringe-inducing.
But What a Legend does well is combine humour with sex in a way that works. They've kept it simple, there's a joke in almost every scene and it never comes across as cringey or creepy.
What a Legend is one of the best games on this site thanks in part to the quality of its script.

Obviously, it depends on your sense of humor and what you're looking for. I prefer themes to be a little more serious than goofy, and a MC who has a solid head on their shoulders, you know? I can deal with mildly goofy, but to me so far (and I only played a short time) it's not a particularly strong point. The art however is quite exceptional.

To each their own, ofc.

I think it helps that they're clearly native English speakers. No Engrish or awkward machine translation, so the dialogue sounds very natural.
