I can't believe this game actually got updated in the end, with a fair amount of content too.

I can. The game was high quality and the reasons for the delays made sense. It isn't like they were milking anyone for cash, though that is often the go-to accusation. Game dev continues to be a lot of hard work for small batches of content, especially if you're making something that isn't just generic models bought off a site.
