Imagine you have a good fan base that can support you. And now, just because you don't really like the opinions of your "employer", you throw everything in the trash and go somewhere else. I'm not saying they started doing it for the money, but they certainly won't want to give it up now. At SS, they would actually have to start all over again. If you don't get along with your boss at work, you definitely won't leave right away.

I don't know the background, but it seems to me that Patreon is more advantageous for devs. And it's definitely faster, there are a lot of people waiting for SS to approve their profile. On Patreon, there is no such problem

Initally maybe, but Patreon makes you jump through more hoops for your content(having to censor and cut thing out). As someone once put it: SS is the parent that let's you do almost anything while Patreon is the overbearing one.

Also, Patreon actively looks around outside of what's posted in their platform. For example, they check forums or the dev's website to see if the game they post in Patreon has a "patch" or different version elsewhere, that breaks their ToS. So doing different versions hardly puts you in the clear with Patreon, if one of them is not aligned with what they allow.

The next update will be focused on Holly, telling the rest of her story. Then we'll get 2 main story updates in a row but we are probably talking about almost 2 years from now.

That is an explanation on why they shouldn't shut down their patreon. There are probably patreons that just forgot they are subbed.

It makes no bloody sense to not open an SS.
By having an SS it means that if patreon suddenly does shut them down, their income does not drop to 0. as they are still getting income on SS.

Yeah, I agree with you. But I dont know what is "behind" like some restriction from Patreon when you publish on other platforms or so. I really dont know background its only my suggestion

A lot of games publish on both patreon and substar.
and I never heard of any noncompete clauses in patreon.

Yeah, I know. It was my suggestion.
Something like "If you publish only with us, we'll take a slightly smaller discount" or "Publish wherever you want, but expect to be under stricter supervision."

Of course, I know that most creators on Patreon also publish on SS or itcho, but there are also a lot of those who are only on Patreon, or those who are everywhere but not on Patreon. And also a few really good ones who are nowhere.
