I can see the sense in your theory, but just because the payment model offers the incentive/enables the behaviour, it cannot automatically be universally applied to all devs.That's deflecting also whether everyone accepts it or not, those are products with one off payments, the company gains nothing by waiting so long between releases. The patreon model provides insentive to work slower.
I'm saying this as an outsider, never actually played the game, just curious
To be fair and accurate, this is a product which has no requirement for a payment of any kind.
The available evidence shows that the dev for this game works hard, has integrity & takes responsibility.
They want each release to be bug-free, spelling error free & for it to work exactly as planned.
I expect that this is why they have many patrons who are happy to support them, but it takes time to achieve that.
