Those were never just jokes, unfortunately. Even if the development time per chapter goes down to 6-7 months, like it's the case with SG, we are still looking at two 10+ year projects.
Just a correction, 6/7 months for half a chapter, being both games projected to have 30 chapters.

Exactly 26.5 years for SG complete from now on if the pace remaing one release each 6 months
Exactly 24 years for WIAB complete if the pace will one release each 6 months FROM WHEN the game progresses again after chapter 6. The time to release the rest of the rework is not included.
The high hope is Ocean been able to upgrade his hardware so well that he can come back to release full chapters in 4 months pace. Will still take a lot of years (8 for WIAB, almost 9 for SG) but at least would not be this unreasonable 20+ years.

I was thinking more in terms of render count, since I expect that at least these reworked chapters will have around 1500-2000 renders per chapter, the same amount the current SG half chapters have. You are right though, they are definitely called half chapters, it's just that in my mind they are big enough to stand on their own as separate chapters, so I just treat them differently. Usually when I play a half chapter update it's no more than 10-15 minutes of gameplay, which is definitely not the case with SG.

Yeah, those hardware upgrades for SG should happen later this year as per one of Ocean's dev logs so that should help a lot. I suspect the same thing will happen to WIAB as well at some point so that should be a nice boost for the production too. But, you are right, even with these upgrades, it will take a lot of time to complete these games, which is quite worrying.

The big question is, will people still be interested in these games, or VNs in general in a few years time? Will we even be alive to witness the completion of these stories? By that time some of us will get married and have children, some will get the harems they always wanted, some will embrace their hidden fetishes and won't require reading VNs anymore and so on. Oh well, I guess we are going to have to wait and see what the future holds.

In the case of SG, although half a chapter is enough to have enough content (my lesbian path in AWAM had less than 5 minutes in the last update to give an example), at the end of the project there will be 30 complete chapters and that weighs on the development time. WIAB currently does not generate enough for a hardware upgrade, so it will surely inherit what SG's computers leave behind.
On the other hand we must add that Ocean has already started the process of putting SG on Steam, which is supposed to be with the 4th complete chapter, so either both (WIAB and SG) are stretched too much or focus on SG, because to put WIAB on Steam they would lack years of work ahead.

That's because, incredibly, the real issue is not powerful hardware or balanced quality/time releases. Is the game scope itself. 30 looong chapters is way to much. To much at all. Not even BaD or COBD, two games made by devs with more experience and resources than Ocean, seems planned to have 30 chapters. it would be necessary full chapters releases bi-monthly for SG and WiAB been completed in the average time of majority of VNs (4-5 years). And there's no way these type of chapters been released together every two months. Doesn't matter how powerfull PCs Ocean haven or how faster he work. It's simply impossible.

Which game is Ocean focusing on?
I'm so conflicted whether I should invest time on his games at this point. I really like the story and characters but if he is developing two games at the same pace it will take twice as long than a regular game development.
If Ocean's words are anything to go by, "WIAB will always be my number one priority".... That was when he was just a contributor in SG, after those times and coming back in time, it was an update and an update, that is first WIAB then SG and so on... Today, SG has more content and support on Patreon, plus it is now totally his project.
But, strictly speaking, Ocean says that he doesn't prioritize either of them, it's 50/50.

Then thats very disappointing. Nearly 18 months just for the first chapter to be remade, a chapter I recall Ocean saying is 98% the same, while the later chapters are getting all the heavy rework. The few posts joking about waiting 10 years seem a lot more real now. Unless the first chapter was later changed to also get some heavy rework like the others, its still pushing well over a year for a chapter. Even with the PC trouble, now fixed, and working on Summers Gone, it doesnt really account for half the time its taken just for Chapter 1. :(
Bear in mind he had to redo all rooms, characters and such from scratch, and now they're done for future chapters. That'll make things faster

He says one thing today but over time it holds no value, this is is not salt or stab but a proven fact by his actions. Life happens things change etc etc and plans do change. First it was WiAB his baby and would be his main focus, SG comes along still on the WiAB is the focus. He than has issues with his friend who is the one working on SG or something along that line, Takes it over and starts a rework. Gives us update 6 for WiAB ( which btw we can pretty much throw out the window as that too is getting reworked despite us having to wait months for that and only got give or take 70% or 80% of it in order to not cause too much confusion with what was already released ) And after that his sole and main focus has been on SG and as such WiAB suffered heavy draught and also loss of subscribers and than it was said that he was going to focus on both of them at the same time. SG got a rework and release right after update 6 for WiAB dropped, after that rework/rerelease SG got an update again. WiAB after 17+ months from his last update to it is NOW getting the full focus and despite what we hope or want, that update at its latest will be late next month the least depending on what exactly he needs to "fill" in the early parts of chapter 1. And if my memory of the old chapter one is still on spot than do not hope for the size of the update to justify the amount of wait, expect about give or take on reading speed and length of animations to get about 12-15 min of gameplay.

My point is, despite what whoever or whatever is said the truth of the fact is no one knows which game he is mostly focused on as he has said many things but his actions said quite the opposite. Right now best you can do is wait for this update to be fully done and than we can see what he plans to do, will he go straight back to SG ? if yes than you can pretty much say his focus is on SG, because actions dictate he gave 2 for SG 1 for WiAB and gone back to SG.

Hello,

So... Technically, I have reached the end of the update.

There are three more things to do.
1st: I've skipped some scenes in the earlier parts and need to fill them now.
2nd: I still have to do some animations for the Miru lewd scene and the cinematic.
3rd: I have to come up with some new GUI (Main menu, gallery, etc.) But most of it will be done with the final version after the initial Beta release.

In comparison to SG, WiAB will have music/ambiance in every scene. (Thanks to you, the supporters!)

Also... Here's a random preview.

Thats true, I didnt take this into account. Good point.
Every events, characters, backstories,... is being reworked. Nearly 100% of this game is being remade. So Ocean gonna thinks about a lot of things, how each plots/events gonna connects to each others, etc. So what you seeing right now can be called a whole new game and this is its first release.

So, does this update include the entire remake, as in ep 1 to 5?
or just a part of the remake?

Any sentence that has the two words Miru and Lewd in it are alright in my book.
