Where it all began - Dev Log #6
Hello,

So...

Summer's Gone - Season 1 has been release on Steam and most of the work for it is now done.

I'm still in contact with Epic and GOG, and there are some smaller issues that delayed the release... But I'm hopeful that it will soon be done.

WiAB is, of course, now also available to wishlist on Steam:

Even if you don't intend to buy it, wishlisting it helps a lot!

It will soon also be available on GOG.

Chapter 3.5... Or well, let's call it Chapter 4 shall we? I'm kinda sick of the old half-chapter counting system and it only confuses people. Updates were always full Chapter sized so... Let's just call it Chapter 4.

Now that everything's slowly returning to normal, the usual work schedule is back.

I've made some progress since the last Dev Log.

I also found the perfect music for a WIAB cinematic, but just before the artist signed the deal, he told me that he did some research and doesn't want his music in an adult game.

That's three artists in a row who said this. Awesome.

Back to the cinematic drawing board.

Chapter 4 will add some content to pretty much every girl. Just to avoid confusion, this doesn't necessarily mean content of sexual nature.

I feel very energized since I finished the rework for Summer's Gone, and WiAB already benefits from it, judging by the amount of renders done daily.

It was planned to buy a workstation directly after Steam, but due to the unfortunate demise of WiAB's Patreon, I had to recalculate.

SG's Steam release definitely helped me, but the German gov will be very interested in the Steam/Epic/GOG release and will adjust my pre-tax for 2025 accordingly.

Always happy to finance bike lanes in Peru, Germany. :)

I will wait 2-3 months until I know what I have to pay every quarter in pre-tax, and then I'll get the new Workstation. (Both games now share the same PC.)

I'll see you in two weeks. - Ocean

Will the update still come out this year?
It would be nice if there was a progress bar
Yeah he's quite vague about the progress in this devlog, maybe progress on isn't that much from renders count viewpoint. Still getting the numbers would have been good.

I do think he will release this chapter this year though, it maybe in November or December. Either this or new summer's gone chapter by the end of the year, he looks pretty pumped up since he doesn't have to work on reworks anymore. It's still 7 months left in this year so hopefully we will be eating good from oceanerse.

Can someone explain to me why musicians refuse to have their music in a porn game? ( Ocean`s problems...)
I mean, basically the music I've seen added are obscure musicians, it's not Madonna or Lana Del Rey. Plus It's a porn game, a very small percentage of people will hear it, it's not gta or Call of Duty. So why? Do they really think it's gonna affect them negatively? .I think they're overestimating their importance

This.

It's the same reason why they don't want to be involved in a porn movie. Working in that industry, I know that a lot of them want to get big and don't want to take the chance to be involved in porn because that's would ruin their images, or it's against their beliefs or whatever reasons, but basically the don't want to be associate with this, same as some artists don't want to be involved with violent videogames like GTA ou COD like you said.

depends if they have a publisher or not. if they do, it's largely out of their hands. Some random on YouTube without a large publisher then yeah, I completely agree but again, if they are aiming for a large audience in the future, would you want your work associated with porn? You rname associated with it?

The fact of the matter is, most people don't, musicians, actors and the list goes on and on....what you think is irrelevant. It can and potentially will harm your image.

Depends on the musician, but most have the hope they will be success and mainstream. Having porn associations while becoming mainstream is a death sentence in the press. Not all exposure is good exposure.

Musicians also create music they love as art - they often like to know what other art in the art gallery and they might not think their message fit certain uses. Since spotify, musicians are also used to being taken advantage of and are very distrustful of any deal.

One potential way for Ocean would be to have music composed specifically and pay for it, that way the musician isn't giving away their favourite song to someone else's project, they're being paid to writre a custom sound track, they get royalies , but don't have to put their name to it if they're worried about bad press way in the future.

Thanks for the replies, that makes more sense. Maybe I was looking at it from the wrong angle.
Maybe Ocean can ask some pornogrind band, for example, "Cock and ball Torture" (they are from Germany too). They're not gonna say no, i guess :)
