I just had to react
I don't usually enjoy villains. Much less playing one. But one of the biggest reasons that drew me into Ocean's games was the old weird, psycho, sociopath, emo, asshole MC from SG. I just found him engaging. He has since been completely changed but I still miss the old one.Villains are so fun, especially when they're on our side. Fuck, both MCs in Ocean's games are technically villainous assholes, that's why everyone thought they're related (now we know better?).
If William likes you, he'd do anything for you. He makes people laugh as much as he makes them scream from frustration. He loves people. If he doesn't like you, he has no problem, let's say, smashing your head into the tile wall of a bathroom? He was ready to give Leia's bouncers a beatdown (or try, anyway).
He is not wildly malicious without a reason, mostly, and a lot of his rudeness and shit is in fun, from his perspective. But he is a criminally minded bad guy, and his girlfriend (soulmate, for me) is either Yakuza or some other Japanese badass criminal.
That is just pure escapist fun to me. The changes haven't ruined it for me, but I've played one less rework than you old-timers.
I definitely agree with both of Ocean's MC's being straight up assholes. Not in an evil or mean way. Just more like uncaring or unbothered about social norms and what others may think. Even though I mostly play them as good guys it's still a nice change of pace from your regular AVN MC.
