Willi is prone to blaming himself now, 'Monster Basher Brutal 3000' Willi has all the sensitivity of a bowling ball. He might not have connected the consequences to others for whatever he did. Might not know who he was beating up or messing with or whatever the case is. Mysteries love those reveals, and Ocean loves red herrings and reveals. So I'm most likely wrong, but the idea that there is a complex chain of events that set of at the beginning is most likely true. The antagonist is so far either a citywide gang or a national cult who are personally targeting the Zanes. It's going to have all kinds of angles.

I'm not one to defend SG (that minor product that has its own thread for things like "defending" it), but, you have to keep in mind that WIAB is SG's world, so anything that is put together in WIAB can (in principle) be the same in SG's basement.
I mean, the underworld of WIAB that will be built, is the underworld of SG that will be discovered as time goes by....

Sure. I was just saying that at least as far as we can see Wollust has calmed down a bit since WIAB. No gangs with free reign putting hits out on people with corrupt officials running cover. At least as far as we know yet.
But of course as Bob points out, shady things are still present to at least some degree, its just that shut in Nika is unaware of it. In ch5 he starts to realize that there are power dynamics at play in the city that he was unaware of.

The innuendo I'm getting between the lines is that Leia is an ice princess, and has kept herself faithful to Willi.

Leia is a lowlife criminal. A drug dealing pimp with delusions of grandeur. My William will do anything to sabotage her and destroy her criminal empire. Doesn't matter how faithful she remained. What she became is revolting.

Sadly we can assume from what is said in the book club in the other game that she remains alive in the future and the Zanes won whatever gang war happened and came out of it as a poweful and influential family. I would have liked nothing better than to have my Willi help whichever gang put a bullet in her head and leave her rotting corpse at the entrance of her club. But knowing that will never happen, given the context of SG, it makes it harder for me to like or feel invested in WiAB.

I think Ocean is immensely talented at creating easy to hate characters. Both his MC's are awful and both Leia and Summer are pretty vile too.

Oh don't get me wrong - Leia IS awful. But even awful people can have their standards and whatnot. She's got that frosty haughty untouchable vibe is what I meant, not that I think she deserves a pedestal. She'll make the plot interesting precisely because she's horrible.

While she has always been somewhat horrible, particularly to Katie, MC's sudden departure after the party incident traumatized her to the point where she almost died. This is why she is so awful now. Dealing with that trauma and resolving their problems might make her at least somewhat tolerable. The criminality of her should not bother us because we are just as bad, and so are so many others (Miru is a fucking Ninja or Yakuza (sub?)boss, for god's sake).

Hey, for anyone playing the current unpatched version, are Leia and MC still twins?

We know the game shouldn’t need a patch anymore as it’s no longer on Patreon, we know Ocean states that only William and Leia would be related from now on…really curious as to how this will translate into the final Season 1.

The differences previously weren't huge, mostly it was deflected. As far as the statement goes, seeing it was deleted after Ocean released it, I'd suggest be prepared for anything. Reasons he might have deleted it:
- caution
- second guessing
- changed his mind and kept all the relationships as is, blamed the post on too much cheese.

I think it's worth playing the game as released without preconceptions of the relations. As WiaB is no longer on patreon, Ocean's going to write the story the way he thing it makes sense for the shared universe. In this sense, his release will not be censored, but following the plot he considers sustainable. Changing the relationships to fit old WiaB becomes simply a fan service to the old game. The more Ocean embeds the new relationships (whatever they end up as), the more potentially cumbersome it will be to make a patch that's consistent with the new storyline, potentially fighting against the new plot points.

Ow, I didn't know he recalled that statement on relationships. To me it was still canon. So yeah, I agree, we should dive into Season 1 with no preconceptions. And the "old" WiAB you refer to, assuming you mean the one before the reworks (0.6), that one doesn't exist for me.

Yeah, apparently the subs didn't know about it, it got leaked here, then Ocean redacted it. Maybe just an abundance of caution. I'd be surprised if it's not still the case, but if there are any related people in the game that are LI's, then all relationships are intentional as written, and shouldn't need a patch.

Katie doesn't make a whole lot of sense as anything other than a sister. It takes a lot of relationship to earn that much resentment and hate... I am eager to try the new Steam version when it's out.

The tricky part is how Patreon will view the linked worlds and history. They are not ... cautious ... about nuking shit, and they don't have a good appeal process.
