currently replaying the rework and IF... IF for funding reasons WiAB ends without a conclusion it is (weakly) possible to connect the tissue from its current edition with a point in the pre rework.. lot of missing story threads but where william leave off in the rework does kinda serve as a 'ending' especially given the SG cougar book club scene with Katie being asked about 'how william is doing'... you could make this that she is asking because he is still behind bars... anyway like i said its a very weak closure but for those who think this might not get a finish its a means to.. create an end so to speak

WiAB and SG are really well done games, but... Reading all the comments on both games it looks like this developer is planning his retirement security on those games.
Not that I'm blaming him on doing so (it's something anyone will do) seeing that he has good monthly earnings from both games and players that support him are content with his intentions, it will take at least 10 years to see some near endings (maybe I'm wrong) and that is somehow too risky for me to be involved in this games development - it's just not for me, I just don't have time to wait that long for any game...
It's a shame, seeing that good games are rare this days (at least for adult gaming) and ordinary games developed by big studios just do not catch my curiosity any more... well, it is what it is, hope that younger generations will see WiAB and SG done in their life time - it's time for me to skip on those two games and look somewhere else.

Now, after a 25 hours WiaB playthrough I can say that I am sincerely grateful to Ocean for rewriting the story. It's quite obvious to me that this wasn't the original story before, but - for certain unfortunate reasons - he was somewhat forced to rewrite it, thereby making both Where it all Began and Summer's Gone as bullet/future-proof as possible.

Is it flawless? Of course not!
Are there plot holes and logical errors? Oh, hell yes!
Does this bother me? Not nearly as much as what I've seen in the topic over the past two days.
Does it bother me that family relationships have changed and the incest have been dropped? Not in the least.

I have no intention of stating that I am right, I have simply expressed my own opinion. However, I would be interested in what those, who are now so upset about the way the story continued in Ch4 think, what should have happened in the prequel for the things we have seen so far in Summer's Gone to happen. Just with this one new chapter, so many what ifs, maybes and wishful thinkings went into the trash, that it's visible from space. And I don't think that's a problem.

I'll write again what I wrote over a year ago. It's clearly not flawless, there's room for improvement, there's room for fair criticism, but I spent 8 euros in the past on much more unnecessary things than WiaB.

Man...what can i say.....after playing this Update...Feeling disappointed might be an massive understatement. This Game strong suit are definitive the Characters. While I admit that I haven't trawled every post from the last few days, I have not seen anyone express a reasoned argument about how Ocean could've handled the i-change any better.

I think WIAB always meant to have the criminal underworld element (at least since reworked WIAB Ch 1), so I don't find the mafia inclusion too unexpected. I don't really care either way. We'll see how it goes.

As to plot holes or things that don't exactly mirror real life... this is the OceanVerse, for goodness sake! "Old timers" should be well used to it by now. Heck, WIAB/SG have anthropomorphic snakes, spiders, rats, and raccoons, outrageously ostentatious female apparel (leading to many unabashed tit-slips), and gravity defying anime hairstyles. It's not planet earth, let alone anything resembling real life. In one way, thank goodness for that! If WIAB mirrored real life, the Zanes might've been wacked by now, so game over.

Ironically, there is one angle with the changes I am interested in because they may hint at one of the underlying mysteries in SG...

WIAB - Presumably, the "three judges" crime families (i.e. including the Giuseppes and Morellis) wacked the heads of the the Grimaldi and Pedersoli crime families, leaving William and Leia as orphans brought up by the Zanes. I expect the Zane/Arano syndicate to wack the heads of the Giuseppe, Morelli et al crime families by the conclusion of WIAB.

SG - There is no sign of the Giuseppes and Morellis so far in SG. It seems that ZPR dominate. Are the two surviving young children of the original "three judges" families living with Nojiko in SG?

No, for the simple fact that Ocean uses the term "mafia" to do the heavy lifting, if in his universe it works differently or he wants to insert some anime bullshit it's up to him to specify it in the dialogues or with a glossary
