The tone didn't change that much... there's still situational comedy and absurd comedy.
I dont have problem with the goofy stuff or bibi stuff but if the underground crime world is like that and the antagonist are as goofy than I would be like why making a underworld crime story

But its just the start and even a crime story can have satire or goofy moments as long as the serious stuff is not that stupid

I'm getting confused...again...Even Gina doesn't seem to know Helen is not MC's mother. Didn't she get the memo "incest is bad" from Ocean? :p

But I also think she's fucking vile.

Lowlife degenerate criminal engaging in racketeering, weapons trafficking, drug dealing, prostitution and probably a dozen more crimes. Prison or morgue!
Thats the best part about her she is real trouble for mc in the future or mc gf:devilish:

I don't see what you are trying to show just in this dialogue, although there are some others much more explicit, like when someone says your aunt for Scar.

Maybe I'm missing something but that conversation doesn't exactly sell that Helen is his mother. It just says Daisy talked to Helen...and if Helen's house is where Will was living at, and Will was still a teen, then Helen would have responsibility for him.

g "Yeah... I told my mother and she went to [name]'s to give him a mouthful."
She went to MC's mother...? Or to MC's place as you seem to understand it? Could be either...

Removing some of the other dialogue you're left with:

I don't see any dialogue that says she went to MC's mother specifically. Only that she went to MC's place (which we know is Helen's house) to confront him and instead ended up talking to Helen.

I loooooove that we can just use "mafia reasons" as a justification for something nonsensical and it requiring no further explanation

100% Leia is one one the more interesting characters. I quite like the way she's being portrayed so far. But I also think she's fucking vile.

Lowlife degenerate criminal engaging in racketeering, weapons trafficking, drug dealing, prostitution and probably a dozen more crimes. Prison or morgue!
Villains are so fun, especially when they're on our side. Fuck, both MCs in Ocean's games are technically villainous assholes, that's why everyone thought they're related (now we know better?).

If William likes you, he'd do anything for you. He makes people laugh as much as he makes them scream from frustration. He loves people. If he doesn't like you, he has no problem, let's say, smashing your head into the tile wall of a bathroom? He was ready to give Leia's bouncers a beatdown (or try, anyway).

He is not wildly malicious without a reason, mostly, and a lot of his rudeness and shit is in fun, from his perspective. But he is a criminally minded bad guy, and his girlfriend (soulmate, for me) is either Yakuza or some other Japanese badass criminal.

That is just pure escapist fun to me. The changes haven't ruined it for me, but I've played one less rework than you old-timers.

Lord have mercy.
Incest-themed stories are extremely popular and sell very good, but when you want to sell a crime drama, it's much harder. Cheap storytelling and worldbuilding won’t be forgiven so easily.
Irrelevant. We weren't talking about what's popular and sells very good.
But if you want to talk about this - no problem. Only we wouldn't be able to do that in this thread and stay on topic.
Most praise goes to the renders [...]
Not from me. They are outstanding and they stay that way for a long time, and that's all about them. I'm so used to it that I almost stopped notice how good they are. I expect nothing less from Ocean.
[...] but I'd like to point out a few moments where Ocean clearly underperformed, either due to lack of knowledge or limitations of Daz3d.
Of course, it must be a lack of knowledge. He's not known for constantly educating himself and constantly experimenting with shit and pushing the boundaries of his skills, which translates into extra weeks of development and makes his resident admirers exercise in who will make more GTA jokes.
The game lacks space and landscape.
No, it's not.
We never see a full house with its surroundings, the farm, the police station, or the drug lab.
We also never see the bird's eye view of Wollust, the main street at rush hour, the drone flyover of the Zanes' house, or the feather floating like in Forrest Gump. I could go on, but I think that's enough for now.
We only catch brief glimpses of the club, and even inside, the only fully shown area is the gloryhole room.
Correct. That's what you would saw from the MC's pov.
Compare episodes where space is actually shown — the scene at the gas station where we meet Amber and others, Dana’s elevator scene, or the memory with the booth — to when we go to the farm. Nothing is shown: no caravan, no house, no farm itself, no panoramic shots. It continues with the same tight and medium character close-ups. There's some action upon finding the car, but it's insufficient. Upon returning, we don't even get to see the entire swimming pool.
Yes, I've seen all of that, thank you. Will there be any downsides of that?
All together, this creates a situation where the game critically lacks spatial depth needed for storytelling.
As I said earlier, no, it's not needed. Prove me wrong :KEK:

I probably don't quite understand what you're talking about. Please, show me an AVN where this spatial depth is implemented and explain why this makes it look better than WiAB visuals. But again, it would be offtopic and we can continue this conversation in off-topic thread.
Anyway, this isn't Red Dead Redemption, and characters don't need to ride horses between farms here, through the forest, to give you a spatial view.
Due to the absence of wide shots, there's no rhythm in the episodes, everything feels sluggish and monotonous. This applies even to the intruder chase scene.

.
And due to the absence of furries there's no warmth, smoothines and coziness. :KEK:

To me it's pretty dynamic. Music, exclamations of the characters, facial expressions, changes of camera focus between the frames, all that works for the dynamics. But the images are remain 2d still images. I have no idea how a wide shot would help you to see the rhythm, whatever you mean by this.

True dynamics can only be achieved through cinematic clips. But they are pretty bad in DAZ, and even Ocean can't get far beyond its limitation.
Action scenes are not given enough renders by Ocean, and there are too few of them overall, most renders are reserved for dialogue. These dialogues feel fresh only when meeting a lot of cuties. (Katie’s team and the club girls).
The club episode really needed a change of pace, and a dance between conversations would've been perfect.
Nah, not needed. I like it as it is, hence its perfect. Prove me wrong. :KEK:

For some reason you are trying to pass off your preferences as some objective criteria that a developer should follow. Why would dev want suddenly change the pace as you claim? The pace is great, there is no need to speed it up, this is not a Benny Hill run accompanied by Yakety Sax.
One more thing. Ocean took the VIP bar layout from Pale Carnation, but it's far too bright for a nightclub setting, because the lighting looks more like an operating room. The layout should have included semi-closed zones so drunk patrons wouldn’t bother others, as happened with William in this episode (sorry Amber).
Let me tell you a secret - developers are very sensitive to such unfounded accusations of plagiarism. Even if you didn't mean anything like that, or on the contrary, you don't give a shit about what they feel - just for your information.

I mentioned the club and PC as a joke in the off-topic thread, but even if one is similar to the other, why are you so categorically stating that he took the layout from another game? Ever heard of the assets shops?

But damn, have you ever noticed that the layouts of bars are very similar to each other? No matter how many bar layouts in different games I saw, there is usually a bar counter with a bartender and drinks, tables, sofas, sometimes a stage or a podium for dancing, sometimes stripper poles, it depends on the bar.

But no, you're claiming he took it from the certain game... And what's even funnier is that based on that assumption, you're inferring that therefore the layout SHOULD have something that it has in that another game.

No it shouldn't. Prove me wrong. :KEK:

Dude, thank you so much for this post. I read that shitshow comment, and was going to respond (nowhere near as well, by the way), but just... shrugged and moved on. TL;DW... ;) :ROFLMAO:

My saves seem unusable. Do I have to start over with this release? Seems to be the case based on previous comments.

When Dana is getting in the elevator, the panel is the same asset as used in Jury, just with different lighting.

So many AVNs use assets purchased from places that it's really hard to point at something and say "This is unique to this VN."
