Ah… no wonder the game felt so confusing at first — there was no background explanation or relationship context at all. It wasn’t until I got to Chapter 2 that I started thinking, “Oh, maybe they’re family.” So is the only difference between the pre-rework and post-rework versions whether or not their familial relationship is explicitly stated? I was kind of hoping for some incest between Leia and Katie… but considering the tone of the game, I guess that’s probably not going to happen.

The devlog you quoted shows it's not going to have that kind of content. THe best you can hope for is a fan patch, but given we don't know the plot, any patch that gets made might need a new beginning every single release as more of the games structure gets revealed.

Most of the circular arguments are people unhappy with letting go of the idea of incest being in the game, but it's not going to go there.

The update with chapter 4 includes rewrites making an i patch harder to implement.

As far as canonising - if I chose a Katie ending, Ayua still has to come from somewhere, so it becomes a mini-harem canon. It's possible to avoid Miru so far, but at some point there has to be some kind of explanation. If you are with Katie, is Dylan then Ayua's dad? Lucas? And if you're with Miru, Ayua is Willi's? At some point there will be some things that are canon that people don't like for their own playthrough.

I think Ocean will give the players a "X" number of endings on Wiab but the game will have a single canonical ending that serves Summer's Gone plotline. In my mind it's the easier way, maybe in some other kind of minor choices he will let players choose what choice they made in Wiab to affect something in SG. And since the 2 games are running together theres no way to let major choices in Wiab affect early choices in SG anymore.
I also think Ayua has a pre-determined father (imo William) since changing fathers would need to have major changes to the relationships, since characters dynamics would change a lot, even more considering the optional NTR in Wiab.
Unless he will not work the families angle on SG that much and will give only the No-NTR or the yes-NTR option, with Ayua and her sisters (yes, we need to remember she has sisters) being William's daughters on the No-NTR option, and with Ayua being NTR (or open relationship) offspring and her sisters being from William, with him and Miru ending up together on both, but this could affect Ayua's storyline.... but honestly? I dont think Ocean will go for it, in my mind he will not put any kind of direct or indirect NTR on Summer's Gone.

This is what I was trying to allude to yesterday with my question.

We know Nika is off the table. For the Miru example, given the time frame she'd be going through morning sickness and stuff related to the first trimester, unless...mafia.

It WiaB is going to have standard endings (a Leia ending, a Katie ending, etc) then it's extremely hard for SG to do anything with WiaB. What happens to people that shun the entire family and gun for Dana exclusively? Suddenly no one in SG can be offspring of Will+x because someone didn't choose that choice and will complain.

Ocean could always have Will knock someone up forced style but that's probably not an ideal solution. Not knowing where WiaB is going to stop in relation to SG doesn't do it any favors either. Using the Dana example, imagine if you're with Dana for as long as possible but then in the black screen between the two stories we get a bunch of canon about what Will did.
