So, still new to this game. I'm trying to go through every guide I can find to figure out the things I need to know, but I think a couple systems have been reworked since most of this advice has come out. For example: Do you HAVE to mix carrots with your meat? Apparently, the system was recently redesigned, because most of what I'm seeing says "put meat and coal in the fireplace/cooking pot/whatever and turn it on," but there doesn't appear to be an "on" button, any more. What's left is a "recipe" system, but it seems the recipes for anything but the forest bread take a lot of resource gathering to complete (at least to this newbie's perspective). I think I've found a SINGLE carrot, so far, but I have hundreds of pieces of "raw feral meat" that cannot be cooked without carrots added to them. So is there any way, in the new system, to just cook the meat?

Then why am I, with a potato, able to play just fine with medium settings for graphics? Why are so many others enjoying this update without exaggerated complaints like you? Perhaps your PC has problems you need to look into. Or maybe you're just doing it wrong. I'm willing to bet on the latter.
You probably weren't meant to play this game so why not just go climb a tree? That might be more your pace. Make it a tall one and strive to reach the top. That'll show all those nonbelievers that you have what it takes. And if you can't then its not your fault, you were just unequipped.
Or better yet, try basket weaving. I've rarely heard complaints about that sort of therapeutic labor. In fact some people find it so satisfying it becomes their new hobby. Do you need a hobby? Or do you need a hug? Maybe you could weave some baskets and then give them away to homeless people. Then you get a hobby and hugs.
I've got lots more ideas. I'm sure you can think of some yourself if you just give it a shot. Go ahead. What could go wrong?
I've picked up a few bugs with this version as well.

The defeated affect counts down from 2m, then keeps on going at one point I was at -8026 or something seconds of the defeat debuff. I just ignored that.

The biggest issue I have is Isabell is not spawning, started a new save, completed the tutorial and she never steps out the portal and introduces herself. Can't start any of her quests.

I've only played on this version, but I was able to do all the Isabell quests I think. You can active on the portal to go into the tower yourself, and talk to her in there. That started the quests for me.

not sure what you mean never steps out of portal? Have you gone into her tower? If you're waiting for her to come out that's a misunderstanding, you have to enter the Portal to talk to her (inside of the tower)

I have done Isabel on all of edo on old Saves (both a Subscribestar era save and a Sep/Aug Steam version redo - as all Quests got reset), and on a clean start on this December version and Isabel worked fine.

Are you perhaps playing an old save from a previous build? Or did you start a new character with the new build? In the past it was best to wipe the save directory before starting a new build to ensure there were no conflicts with previous build data, but I think that has mostly been fixed. I still do it tho out partly out of habit partly from OCD.

I somewhat recall someone in discord talking about dropping one of the tablets and then not being able to find the corresponding chest after picking it back up. But I'm not sure where that went as I was looking for other info. Just that there could be a bug involved that we don't really know about yet. There are a lot of things to try, but if there is a bug it might be a lot of effort in vain.
i've been continuing a preferred save from Subscribestar days (I guess 8.7 era or so, about next to last issue before Steam) and haven't encountered real issues - the Build reset w Steam did partially wipe out my old ramshackle build but redoing it (w free build mode) actaully ended up being better given better snap etc.
No major bugging items that seem different than clean start and from reading Discord no sign that bugs I am encountering are different than people just starting 100% clean.
Except maybe my "Legacy Companions' where two of those who started leveling under old build continue to level up crazily (1000 level werewolf, which since base werewolf was a born-kid of lvl10 and wimpy isn't really as overpowered as it might seem - and a 200 lvl drake). Trying in same save with ordinary born kids I had in stock doesn't seem to result in this at all. So maybe there it's making a difference.

On other hand oddly enough my "Historic Servants/companions" do not seem to be suffering from the Token/Summons problems that the New Clean Start ones are. Seeing in Discord there's lots of reports on this, it seems that the new Build has returned to severe issues (other mentions on items makes me think maybe something in the calls to on-person inventory logic are somehow generally screwed up somehow). Pity.

the latest December Build changed all of the food recipes so everything written on food pre-December is now wrong/outdated.
I think I would advise to Cheat-Build a cauldron to look at the recipes for clarification, then you can destroy your cheat build [what I did in my clean start just to inform myself on what the new progression looked like]

Otherwise one can buy most food from the village lady (Agatha if I recall her name, anyway the middle aged Graycott village lady).

Carrots are found pretty liberally on the edge of the original spawn site grove/small-forest - need to keep eyes on ground, my recollection two main patches, one more on desert/beach side near the copper ore area that is also on that side, and second batch on opposite end (both on the side of grove towards the beach).

I typically spam E as I walk around everywhere - quite effective in grimping up one's harvest skill and randomly collecting shit (and higher harvest skill means more collected).

You can also sell your excess in the village - should be able to sell e.g. your meat to Agatha and then buy cooked items (this gets Social skill points that is also useful), that in early stages can really be life-savers.

As I think CptBipto or Formusual mentioned recently, harvesting fiber, then crafting cloth boots and selling them in the village has a very good return on money (both getting experience points and a good bit of coin that you can then use to buy stuff... I personally have always used to more quickly accumulate ore so I can get my tools up to reasonable level (steel now, iron before), and get a non-shit basic armor (since I don't like combat much by personal preference, I mostly go light route).

I also typically end up w stupid amounts of branches from my harvest-spamming while walking so I will craft wooden spears simply to sell them... (either on-person crafting or at workbench) - not as profitable but at least gives me XP plus some money rather than hundreds of branches w/o any use (other than arrows I suppose)

right - it's been a fairly consistent pattern that when a totally newish mechanic is added (as this seems) it's often bollixed up and needs at least one round of bug-fixing. I think I may hold off on these until a revision...

ETA; Question Mannequin
( Mannequin buildable )
Anyone know if this has a functional game purpose?

Also our Hentai flowers: anyone observe if it's giving sex skills?

Unfortunately, no. There is no way to just cook the meat. You have to make a stew or pie and those require things like carrots to make.
The Campfire and Forge have Off and ON buttons, but they do not really have any recipes to select. When you turn them on, they just automatically start making 'stuff' until they run out of resources.
The Cauldron does not have an ON button (I think the firepit is the same way), you just select the recipe that you want to make, set the quantity that you want to make and click the craft button.

As Ramirad, said the cooking system was completely reworked in the most recent update, so any helpful comments or posts are not as accurate as they used to be.
There is a NPC in town that sells food, so if you are just looking for some food to boost your HP, you can just buy a few food items if you have the cash available.

Personally, I would recommend that you grow your own carrots, for each seed that you plant I think you get 4 carrots when you harvest them. There is a NPC in the town of Graycot, named Jacob, that sells every type of seed and spoiled food for fertilizer and it is pretty cheap.
Harvest fibers and turn them into cloth, then use the cloth to make cloth boots, the boots sell for 20 gold each. There is a massive area of wheat near Jacob that you can harvest. You can purchase stones from the blacksmith for 1 gold each and then use the cauldron in the town to make flour to sell to the NPCs for more cash or you can make forest bread with it.

You can use it to display armors that you craft and you can use it as a hat rack. :p
I have decorated mine with my old set of Guard armor and the rabbit mask.

I haven't seen those flowers boost any sex stat on my character, I bet those greedy bastards are hoarding all of the sexp for themselves.

Trader pricing is stuck on default this build. It may say buy for one gold but you get charged for two regardless of social skill level. I made a bug report about it and it was upped so hopefully its addressed. Regardless, it is still worth it to buy seeds. Especially blue flower seeds just to sell the blue flowers. Fastest way I make money.

Anyone having trouble placing a new Preservation Box on a stone floor near a stone wall? seems to embed in floor or wall, not sit on the floor near the wall. If so, know of a fix? TIA.

It sounds like you may need to switch between Snap Mode On to Off. Sometimes depending on exactly how you placed the stone floor (and possibly maybe double-built or some other placement wrinkle) I think the placement logic can get confused, whenever I have this I swithc to Snap Mode Off

Press O.
What you are describing is a result of the Snap-to feature of the building function and pressing the keyboard key that I mentioned above will disable that snapping feature.

The game will try to auto-detect the edge of the nearest tile and then snap the item you are trying to place, into what it considers the 'best' position. It isn't a bug, it is just the way the building system works. It happens with pretty much all of the furniture, so get accustomed to using the O key to disable the snapping feature.

PS: With snapping turned off, you can press shift and use the wheel mouse to raise or lower an object before you place it, it will not happen all the time, but there will be occasions where the game just absolutely insists on placing an object about a meter below where the surface actually is and that height adjustment comes in handy.

Really? I never thought about the flowers that much, I will have to check that out if I make another character.
Usually, I am fine with 'living off the land' and rejecting all of that 'imperialistic, capitalist nonsense'. If I cannot get it on my own, I do not deserve such finery.

HOWEVER .......

The grind in this version of the game has reached pinnacles that I had never dreamed were possible and I caved in to that decadent hedonism called "buying and selling stuff".
I just went for the expedient stuff that was easy to gain, so fibers to cloth and the wheat (from Jacob's field) to flour. That was usually enough for me to purchase repair kits, decent food items, and give myself a boost up while grinding out stuff.

Absolutely agree. This build is making me work. I like it tho. Gives me a reason to do shit I was doing before without much of a reason.

Hmm, I'll try that.

I was sure all the streams and vods I'd seen of this game, she stepped out a portal by stone near the fisherman after the tutorial was complete and introduced herself and gave the breeding quest.

Edit. found the tower and Isabell

Is it possible that this game will have proper char editor someday so you can finally make someone who is not fugly abomination? With UE its sure possible. Not to mention model structure is bad... like really bad. Sorry I thought after many versions and rework it will at least better, but no, same char editor. Heck I guess you cannot even remove freckles. I feel like I'm playing some AAA game from activists of agenda where women are allowed to look pretty. Its just... eh. No offense but eh...

That never happened to me, in fact, i wasn't aware this was meant to happen, until just now, lmao! Another thing that isn't working as it should...

Though, im sure a bunch of the other defensive people in this thread will deny that this bug exists, just so they can claim the game works perfectly, like they did with me! :ROFLMAO:

Actually, you can remove the freckles, you need to change the skin type.

And while i agree, the model structure is noht gud... There are ways to make it work, i made it work!

Just takes HOURS fine-tuning every scale, lmao...

OK. I'll give it a try. Thanks!
