Nope, because its called crowdfunding. You really dont get it do you? Man why dont you just go chill on some other thread for a game you acutally like instead, would be better for your blood pressure.
No, you don't understand, this is not about them taking money. This is about them taking money despite being unable to deliver the product they promised, after more then enough time has passed.

Guys its fine, game development just takes time you know. There is tons of misconceptions about it because its not something developer studios share gladly most of the time, they are generally extremely secretive during development. Porbably to prevent exactly situations like these from happening where people just constantly complain about the speed of development, the lack of features and the unclear directions during development. We dont have that luxury. We need to constantly juggle the short-term desire for new content many of our supporters have while developing a very large game that takes many years to do. Dont get me wrong, I really enjoy work and I enjoy the interactions with our community. I even enjoy coming here and check out what you think, suggest, criticize and request. I invest my own time into that because I know that these interactions can only result in a better final product, and thats what we all really want isnt it?
So where was I? Ah yes, well we need to release a working build every two months which involves slowdowns in development because every build needs to be tested and polished to be presentable. A typical mainstream studio doesnt have to do that. They just secretly develop the game behind closed doors and when its done its done, whether you like it or not. But such mainstream studios wont ever produce a game like the one we are making and you know that. Thats why you are here, thats why we are here along with you.
We are fighting a battle for you and the h-game scene as a whole, together with all the other great devs here and there.
I can only explain so often how comlpex game development is and the challenges we are facing as an indie dev making an adult game, fighting against stigma, censorship, mistrust all while managing a company, building up a community, designing a whole game and story. But there will always be people who ignore the struggles. And thats fine. There was a time when I got quite butthurt about comments and accusations calling us scammers and losers and predicting our project will never be complete. But I found it healthier to turn that into a motivation to prove them wrong. And its not an easy road but im not complaining, im enjoying it so far and while there is ups and dows, Im confident we will reach the goal. We are seeing this through to the end.

PS: Thanks for all the inspirational comments, constructive criticism, interesting requests and bug reports you have shared so far. Keep being polite and friendly, it helps to make this a more welcoming place for devs. Im sure youll agree thats good for everyone ;)

They usually keep this a secret to prevent others from stealing their intellectual property. As a company, you don't want to see competitors making money off your ideas.

game development just takes time you know.
I 100% agree with this, but after more than 6 years you should be able to provide more than just a tech demo.

You knew beforehand what you are getting yourself into, don't try to use this as an excuse.

A little suggestion: instead of talking about motivation turn these words into action. You know, to show people you actually mean what you said. Currently these are just empty words.

motivation to prove them wrong.
Please, show me the prove, i don't see any.

Or am I having it backwards? Is the "RPG first, porn second" crowd the main fan base?
No, you are right. The problem is when some people see "rpg" they immediately think of best rpg games they've played then proceed to whine about why this porn game isn't equally good as them. See how this person ignores "adult rpg" and focuses solely on the word "rpg":
To be fair, these games are advertised as being just sex simulators or character creators.
You know what to expect and you will get exactly that.

In the first sentence in WLs Patreon description it says "Wild Life is an open-world adult RPG".
So you expect an RPG, but you don't get one.
As if this game needs leveling, shooting, fetch quests, shitty dialogue choices that doesn't change anything etc. This will make me horny in this adult game, right? RIGHT?

Reposting because a dev would know how best to answer this:
How difficult would it be to simply add the female Shey animations to futa-Shey when with males, like with futa-Jenny? Because I really wanna see futa-Shey receiving.

Now this game is probably the best out there in terms of a game of this kind but I wish Steve and the team added some desperately needed customization features to this game. Now I know that most of their focus right now is centered on gameplay and story and that is perfectly understandable and it should be that way but I feel they could easily add some customization options to the game that would really make this game stand out even more.

A few customization options that I feel would really enhance the overall customization of the characters would be:

  1. Eyebrow type and colour customization.
  2. Tattoo customization (location on the body, angle, size and maybe colors for simpler tattoos)
  3. Piercings (locations on the body: navel, clit, nipple, tongue, septum etc.)
  4. Nail customization
  5. Clothing colour customization (I think Steve may have commented that this is an upcoming feature though I am unsure)
  6. Hair accessories
  7. Adding scars, moles, freckles etc.
  8. Eyelash Customization
But also if they are going to implement these customization options right off the bat there should be a variety of different options. For example I think 20 tattoos for a start would be good. Now apart from that I hope there will be a future update where they add a lot of good hairstyles for both men and women. Now I know that they have added some really good ones but the game desperately needs more. Just imagine if this game never implemented those hairstyles from Paragon.

Also another suggestion from me would be to add earrings. I think they would look great on bj scenes.
Is there a way to maybe import models from another game, like Honey Select?

I think the unproductive criticism stems mostly from the fact that the game is so diverse so the chances of you getting what caters to your specific tastes are rather slim. For example, I mostly like male kerpali x human female. I don't particularly like the design of the female kerpali otherwise I'd enjoy content with them as well, like female kerpali x human male or male kerpali x female kerpali. But I don't really. It's not even that I like every male kerpali, I'm mostly interested in the Kral and Rawn specific models. The little ones like the ancient goat man or the fridge dudes like the minotaur and rhino dudes look too extreme for me, proportion wise at least. If you like to use the cinematic cam as I do getting a good view of the action is nigh impossible with the big dudes since they're so blocky. Now, if we had a more lithe version of them - with say, the general frame of Kral or Rawn but of course taller, I'd be in.

But as it is, if there isn't a lot of new Rawn/Kral x human female stuff in a new update I might as well skip it. Which shouldn't be of concern to you since I'm a dirty pirate, just explaining where the flak you sometimes get comes from. Pretty sure it's the same for most other people, since there's futa and gay content as well. If people are in it for some gay kerpali on kerpali action or are mostly interested in futa, some updates are likely completely uninteresting for them as well.

I feel this. Its always an uphill battle when it comes to openly developing a game in front of people who all the while see the content that comes out over time doesnt actually see the behind the scenes nitty gritty of game development. When it comes to mainstream games we're use to hearing about a game a year or 2 before launch, and if it doesnt come out in that time frame we just assume its dead and forget about it or meme on it when in reality a lot of these games, mainstream or otherwise, don't just get made in a microwave. It takes years to make games of certain scales and ambition especially when you don't have the backing of pimp publisher who likely has support studios to help.

But with crowd funded games its a different dynamic most people aren't use to and find acceptable. Once we hear about a game we expect it to be done "on time", which is typically a couple of years from now. On top of that its publicly available how much you earn off sites like patreon (you definitely should consider other crowd funding alternatives, even if you dont leave patron, I and many other do not want to give patreon a dime). So we see all the money a dev earns and think "Wow, with all that money, surely they can get this game out the door in short order!" Idk why, but even in this day in age where "AAA" games keep coming out messy, broken, and unfinished, games that have the full backing of the industry with big money and manpower, people still think that money = all these things that money by itself simply just cant do. Money doesnt buy you a shortcut to a finished, complete, quality product. You can hire all the people in the world, but a lot of times it ends up being a "too many cooks in the kitchen" problem, and all that money doesn't guarantee anything about the quality of the game. So when all three of these expectations arent meet by an arbitrary deadline, congratulations, you're permanently on the "Scam" list forever. No matter your reasonings or justifications, your game is now labeled a scam.

Its sucks, it really does. When a game's development slows down for good or bad reasons, the only possible reason some people automatically assume is the nefarious one, that its simply being dragged out to rack in money and live comfortably. Most people wouldn't know a scam even if they bought an asset flip of a game called "We Were So Lazy We Couldn't Even Bother Giving This Game A Name". Every good scam requires low effort, or even false effort, for low risk and easy high gains. Thats the entire point of a scam. If you had to work hard to scam people, you wouldn't be scamming people, you would just get a job and put in that same effort. Selling a bootleg copy of a pirated dvd, that may or may not have gotten pass the DRM, or even have the correct movie on it at all, or has quality footage, is a scam. Actually making a whole ass movie yourself and selling it isn't.

Point is, you got the right idea, because if you let every claim of scam get to you, there wouldn't be a Wild Life to play and talk about. Sam goes for a lot of "scam" developers, in and outside the adult games space. All you can really do is keep on doing what you do, and if people don't like it they can just make their own games since its so easy to pump out games like this in short order.

No, which is why myself and several others have already asked for a way to customize the characters further, such as overlays, facial strucutre, more body customization, etc. Once we have that level of customization, the devs can focus on models instead of making a 'skin' of a character, as the community would more than likely make those presets and share them.

As long as they keep advertising this as an RPG, i will expect an RPG.
Im pretty sure the majority of people would calm down if the devs started calling it what it is, instead of promising something but delivering something else.
I agree with this actually, but I also have to say that I for one never asked for an RPG, I just want a sex simulator thingie with hot anthros and people >_<

AdeptusSteve ...Honestly I didnt think you'd read all that... but since you do actually read these, I wanna reemphasis please put this game up on other places as well. I would like to give something to this project, but I also refuse to give patreon any of my money. Substar, gumroad, just have another open option besides patreon.

Do you intend to add character creation at some point? Even a basic one like assets size, hair color, eye color, and skin?

Steve-nothing personal not into the animal stuff BUT I do love to try and support those pushing tech in the adult game scene so I do check this out and it does have human with humans so it's cool but please consider adding DLSS and Gen5 TAAU. I'll post the hard-way but can be added in settings too-Thanks

guys add this in appdata\local\WildlifeC\saved\config\windowsnoEditor in the engine.ini file

[SystemSettings]
r.MipMapLODBias=-1
r.SSR.Temporal=1
r.TemporalAA.Algorithm=1
r.TemporalAA.R11G11B10History=1
r.TemporalAAFilterSize=1
r.TemporalAAPauseCorrect=1
r.TemporalAACatmullRom=1
r.TemporalAACurrentFrameWeight=0.3
r.TemporalAASamples=4
r.TemporalAASharpness=1
r.PostProcessAAQuality=6
r.ScreenPercentage=77
r.TemporalAA.Upsampling=1
r.Upscale.Quality=5
r.Tonemapper.Sharpen=1.2
r.AmbientOcclusion.Method=1
r.GTAO.UseNormals=1
r.DistanceFieldAO=1
r.AOQuality=2
r.AmbientOcclusionLevels=2
r.MaxAnisotropy=16
r.VT.MaxAnisotropy=16
r.streaming.hlodstrategy=0
r.streaming.fullyloadusedtextures=1

this hard enables Gen5 TAA at 77percent upscale(should be imperceptible) also adds in UE built in sharpener and forces 16xAF and should cut stutter as forces game to use all available VRAM . Gen5 TAA while not as goof as DLSS is superior to FSR so try it out!
