Yes, insects mean incest.
Of course it's incest with stepmom, it is in most parts of the world, including the US where both BD and the game is. Bloodrelation isn't the only requirement for incest.

You can read the interview, or the tl;dr, where BD states that there won't be any relationships with Azel or any family member.
I guess I just find it weird because there doesn't seem to be any benefit/reason to go the Love route. Unless something happens SUPER FAR down the line, choosing the love route only limits the content.

Technically you could make an incest patch without all that. You could make Rachel the Mom and Jamie, Shauna as well as others his sisters. It obviously and wouldn't allow you to fuck Azel, Willow or the Mother. So it solves nothing, but I just wanted to be a dick and point that out for no reason.
