Greetings fellow space officers!
Unfortunately it looks like the Kickstarter for the game is not going to hit the target. That's unfortunate but not completely unexpected since the goal was indeed difficult to achieve.
We received A LOT of feedback on how to improve our kickstarter for the next time we'll try to launch it (and we'll indeed do so in a few weeks). Of course we haven't stopped developing the game since we are doing the best as we can to launch Early Access Alpha release 0.0.3 next month for both our Patreon and Steam supporters as well.
We introduced upbringings in character creation! When asked about your upbringing by the interviewing officer you can now choose the past of your character. Were you raised by wealthy parents? Did you attend college in your childhood as a prodigy child? Have you been a pirate for most of your life? With more than 30 different choices that will affect your starting skills you have plenty to decide right from the start.
While this won't affect actual gameplay, in the future we could develop stories based on your chosen upbringing, even though that's far away in development right now, even though we're already making it possible by setting the proper flags in the game's database.
The user interface is coming to its final look, designed by Laura 'Sasquatchii' Anderson, our graphic designer for all of our games, we hope you'll enjoy the renewed "Quick Menu" buttons, the ability to toggle vanilla mode ON or OFF without having to return to the settings screen and the character's portraits to better understand who's talking, alongside a wider, bigger font to improve readability.
We're also developing the Codex with all the informations you'll need to deepen your understanding of the game's universe. With dozens of specific topics accessible even through in-game hyperlinks, you are not required to read it to understand the game, but you can do so if you want more infos on a specific topic. And with a new look too!
Finally, we're working on Academy skills and tests, offering you not only a screen which says "You improve your knowledge +1" but giving you events and situations where you actually LEARN how to use a skill, either by attending a class or by wandering around with your teammates.
Over the next few weeks we'll polish this part of the game and focus on the relationships between you and your teammates, including adult content and interactions. We aim to release an Early Access with a 10-12 hours of content for you to enjoy.
