It's pretty obvious the majority wants to see more sex animations. What should I focus on?

I don't post things too often, but occasionally I visit several similar forums. @Paladox From what little I've read over the years you're really on top of things on your Patreon and various forums, and respond to folks with great care and respect. I commend that and sometimes I think people don't hear that enough. So, there you go!

Interesting points raised; I can understand why changes need to be made. Glad that you listen to your fanbase while creating a game you and others would enjoy. I also had problems reading the introductory text and I get your point regarding the art in the Traits section.
Earth co-exists in Sienna's universe, and she doesn't live on it. Her world is called Etria.
Fascinating. I don't recall seeing any in-game lore thus far mentioning this.

Just began the Tower portion of the game. It's as odd as I remembered it; though, I do dig the claustrophobic and the nyctophobic feel as you go about in the dark caverns nearby (and accidentally running into an encounter if you don't have your eyes peeled). Anyways, I always thought the game was very jarring getting up to this point. It changes gears abruptly without regard to the passengers aboard, lol. The game is fun, but it's wild ride! Respectfully, here's a few observations of mine:

Regarding the Rosevynne / The Black Spider cutscene, some of the dialog is advanced by player input and some of it is advanced automatically. I think advancing the dialog one way or the other is preferable than mixing methodologies. I hope you don't think I'm quibbling over minor things. As a player, I just wanted to take in the ghastly scene that you've carefully weaved without having to worry about inadvertently missing some dialogs. Every single time I get to this point, I can't help but focus on what's happening on the table to the exclusion of other things. I need a moment to pull myself away so that I can actually read the text and note what other things are happening in that room, lol. Masterfully done, and, again, not for the squeamish.

Okay, switching topics; let's get to a few questions.
  1. What do gems do? How or where can I use them?
  2. Can all items considered "Ingredients" be used for crafting? For example, I have yet to find a place where I could combine or transform Life and Magic Essences anywhere.
  3. I realized that experience is only awarded to still standing party members. Does XP get divvied up among them or do each surviving member get the awarded XP.
  4. Similarly, since enemies are finite, does sweeping an area of enemies negatively affect future party members or will they be scaled to the party's average level somewhat? (I've never gotten to the point in any of the builds where the player gained other party members besides Dillon.)
Thanks to anyone that were able to answer my questions. Cheers!

EDIT: 5. Will Sienna ever encounter that "slime" monster

In the next release the "chasm" at the first black spider fight has been replaced with a rising wooden pillar. There's still all these issues the player could think of, such as, "Couldn't Sienna use her magic to just dissolve it? It is organic after all!" and "Couldn't she just squeeze by the side of it? She looks small enough to me!" but for all intents and purposes, the show must go on! Maybe in a future version I'll use a Super Duper Gate of Awesome. xD

The automatic dialogue at Jenn's first meeting- I was thinking it was all advanced by the player, but I'll make a note to check into it. I normally only advance the dialogue is short or unimportant, or so that the pacing is in tune with the music.

1: Gems aren't all that useful until you finish The Tower's chapter. After that, you'll be able to use experium & gems to craft upgrade orbs. There are also merchants that sell things exclusively for gems (and gems can be exchanged for gold, and vice versa, and gems are worth 10x that of gold).
2: I believe there are a few outfit upgrades for the girls that require life and magic essence.
3: As far as I'm aware, everyone gets the same exp, even if you don't have a full party. So when someone is downed, that exp is lost.
4: Quest exp is given to all party members, including future characters, so don't worry too much about mopping up all the enemies. PLUS, only the Caverns monsters (scorpions, etc..) are not replaced in future chapters. Monsters in the Cellar and Tower are all replaced in the next chapter. If you want to get max exp, then I suggest working (digging, lab cleaning, smithing, etc..) until Kendra joins you in The Tower, and then killing everything.

And thanks for all the kudos. :)

Cool; I'll endeavor to play more organically like how I normally play games. Thanks.

Ah. That's a good consideration to keep in mind.
Hey, thanks for touching base.

Edit: Apologizes in advance if I doubled the post; I'm seeing odd behavior with forum posts recently.

I think I forgot to reply to a few points.
In the next release, after the first meeting with Jenn, Sienna will temporarily go "somewhere else" first. It will give players a moment of reprieve from the actual events of the game, but also add a little more mystery to The Abyss. It will also give players a reason to keep an eye on Sienna's Tranquility (aka Spirit, in older versions).

5. What's it called when a character is just there for a scene and then never seen again? I'm not sure if plot hole is the correct term, or perhaps unresolved characters? Well, either way, I'm not a fan of such things.

Also, forgot to add, the doctor is another one of those things that seems out of place, but is intentionally strange. There are a lot of strange things about The Abyss, and Sienna could probably see the truth of some things if she weren't in such epic denial. (and I'm not saying it's all just a dream, or only in her head. I hate most games/movies that end like that)

And you can't blame her daughters for not knowing better, because The Abyss is all they've ever known.

0.72 is the latest version I released. 0.73 will be a pretty big update though. Currently I'm piddling with The Caverns while I wait for the new sex animation to be finished. Once I get all the layers for the new animation I'll have my hands full trying to piece it together in the game engine. Initially I'll only use it for whoring, but do plan to use the new animation system for ALL sex in the game, as other monsters are gradually included. I'm hopeful that 0.73 will inspire more people to support my patreon since each monster is probably going to cost $100. (ouch) Here's a gif I put together from Bebecake's work thus far, just in case anyone is wondering what it will look like:

Besides that, my current primary issues before release are:

1. Old NPC compatibility (Gray, as well as characters/events in Kendra's Palace).
2. Making the new clothing system compatible with losing to enemies.
3. Finish up the whoring overhaul (adding other character compatibility),
and determining how the new animation will work with it.
4. Old boss tweaks & changes.
5. New clothing system - "skill tree" styled nodes needs finishing up.
Particularly needs a unifying branch system. (branch A & B finished = branch C is available)
6. Children quest overhaul (need to change it such that you can do their quests in any order, and you get the quest when you find the item, instead of being able to get it from the child)
7. Closing off unfinished areas & removing test events.
8. Auctions? (may need to put this on the back burner)
9. Fine-tuning other smaller sections, such as The Blackwood, as I did with the 4 primary areas (dungeons, crypts, mines, and vinery).

I'm sure I've missed something in there somewhere, but those are the things I need to do but I seem to be very good at avoiding actually doing them. >.>; I feel like a vulture that keeps circling around the carcass and occasionally I see a scrap fly off and I gobble that up instead of going after the corpse directly. Sometimes I get inspired though and jam my head right in there! Happy entrails! Woohoo!

^ Sounds like you're not sure what to do, but whatever you decide, good luck and have fun!

I was just noticing that the avatar I had just "went away" and the link I posted above was also having issues.
Disconcerting, but I've fixed the link (you have to click it now to see the animated gif).

Also I noticed that the "screenshots" in the OP include some artwork. I just would like to note that those are more along the lines of concept and promotional art, and not necessarily something you would see in-game.

Version 0.74 is available! Grab it

Three saves are included:
Save 1: End of Tutorial caves.
Save 2: Tower mostly completed.
Save 3: Abyss started a bit, early tools collected (axe, pick, hammer, and acid).

New Screenshots:

There are way too many changes to list, but in summary:
1: New whoring system (with STDs and sex traits) and sex animation (see Screenshot 1).
(Currently this is the only position and characters available, but with your Patreon support I can include many more!)
2: Updated menus.
3: New quests.
4: 4 New dungeons (3 levels each) to explore!
5: Option to skip long events & dialogue (namely the nightly events in The Tower).
6: New alchemy system for tonics and antidotes (unlock more potions by increasing your alchemy skill).
7: New equipment, clothing system, and large shop overhaul.

Please feel free to report any bugs that you find. The following is known:
1: Various passage inconsistencies (currently in the process of updating them all, such that you can easily walk into a passage to go to the next map, without having to press the action key).
2: Some issues in The Tower resulting from Forlorn Halls addition. Namely the day count and Dillon's sprite not showing up outside your door on that first day. Just little things.
3: Encounters and monster sex issues. Sometimes you'll choose to fight but Sienna will instead decide to do the nasty. This is due to a large number of old sex event incompatibilities with new common events. This will all be dealt with in time. In the meantime, sorry about the completely random wonkiness of it all! I believe this happens when Sienna has some temptation levels, but I'm not sure.

Bug: In the tutorial cave at the first alchemy table if you choose '1: tonic' for the very first time you use it then the game will freeze.

I have been with this Dev for a long time now. The story caught me and made the feels real. The hurt and the feeling of helplessness was real. Trying not to do a spoiler, but the game makes corruption a viable option. "What will you do when there is nothing left, but your pride". Unlike some games where corruption is silly and whimsical i.e look there is a penis in the bathroom let me suck it is kinda silly. Later on in the story there is redemption if that the path you take. However, with the things that were done it is easier to go back. While trying to raise a proper brood. Its up to the MC to either be virtuous or unleash the demon inside. Truthfully I have not played in many moons because I don't like redoing each month form the beginning. If you are looking for a storied on RPG type , well this is a game for you IMO.

Strange. Is anyone else getting this problem? I've tried several times to replicate it but the game isn't freezing.
It could possibly be a run-time package issue. Have you tried getting the VX package?
@Justanx: I've played some pretty silly games. "Oh you like sex? That means you're totally evil!" And you get a bad ending based on how much sex you had. Sienna's virtue is actually only 1 of 4 different aspects that make up her personality. Most of this won't come into play until the final chapter, but I do want to gradually add alternate dialogue for Sienna, depending on her current personality makeup. Of course there's also the very direct consequences of choices made.

Regardless of all this, Sienna's final goal remains the same. A different Sienna will just get there by different means. No matter which Sienna you end up with she will still love her children, her world, and her friends.

Your walkthrough link seems to be broken?
I've been working on a walkthrough myself. It doesn't go very far though, and is a bit outdated.

Also, I apparently made a copy of Midna's walkthrough (which is even more outdated). It might be somewhat helpful once you get past The Tower chapter.

Hmm, well I repeated it myself twice before I posted but now I can't reproduce it. I guess wait to see if anyone else complains. :p
