Definitely has potential, can't wait to see it a bit more fleshed out.. and how does the outfit creator works? I couldn't really get it to do anything last time I tried no matter where I clicked, maybe I'm just blind and didn't see some option :x

It seems a bit badly optimised at the moment, hopefully something can/will be done about that.. almost 7gb vram usage on a RTX 3060 Ti with temps in the high 70's, low 80's. By itself it's fine, but for a game that is at the moment "just" one character in what looks like the equivalent of 3DL from Daz? Daz3D in Iray with 2 characters in a room with assets uses about the same, and the GPU still doesn't get that warm.

Also, what's your stance on the whole Unity scandal? Will you be changing engines? I'd assume that'd be a load of work :)

Unity will now charge 0,20 cents for installation if you reach 200k in revenue or reach 200k installs starting at january 1st iirc, so you can bomb-install any dev to bankruptcy, updating the game/demos/pirate copies may also count as installs
They have somewhat "backpedaled" in panic (not totally tho), more info

It was for people to try my UI idea and see if they liked it, but I got feedback telling me that the layer selection was very confusing. So I will revamp it entirely, and I want to make something better than a simple cloth layer + material selector; I want to make the best outfit creator ever.

The best and yet never-done outfit creation would be a mix of: The Sims 3 + Saints Row 2 + Honey Select + APB + SoulCalibur

The Sims 3:
true material customization with custom patterns and colors
Saint Row 2: clothes layering, being able to stack several clothes over each other
Honey Select: being able to show/hide each piece + having clothes state (e.g.: shirt normal/shirt raised)
APB: being able to paint custom decals all over each piece of clothing
SoulCalibur: being able to customize materials with specific physical value, so that you can make something rusty/transparent/shiny/neon/wool-like/completely mirroring etc. as you like.

With all this, you could make anything you can dream of. For example, you could take a pair of socks and make them gold-plated with an engraved name on them in the font of your choice and a logo on the back. It's what I envision and I will try my best to create something like this, my only enemy is time and players PC haha. Also, this is for v0.3, Males creator has tobe done first!

It's the hair shader. The hair shader cost so much. I will add a bald "haircut" in v0.1 so you will be able to see the difference.
The hair shader didn't look good enough to my taste in the earlier versions, so I reworked it like crazy to get a look I would call acceptable, but when I test LL I can see that the more you have hair on your screen, the less you have fps haha.
I certainly will have to make a specific hair graphic option in the settings menu, something that will switch between 3 different shaders (an ugly optimized one, an "ok-ish" stable one, and the current one).

Also, what's your stance on the whole Unity scandal? Will you be changing engines? I'd assume that'd be a load of work :)
TL;DR: I'm jobless in 3 months because of Unity, fuck them! Haha.

Here are my quotes from Lucid Lust's Discord, when I answered the current Unity problem:
I'm okay, just starting to feel a little bit depressed haha. I don't want to enter into too many details, but the sole fact that Unity was ready to do a 180-turn on their pricing/royalty system like this RETROACTIVELY is crazy. The studio I work for doesn't have a legal team, it's not that big of a studio haha, so we hire external people €/hour and what the studio got for a response was: "They (Unity) can't enforce a new policy for games you already published under an older TOS + they can't track or "invent" installation numbers" But it was also "They could do whatever they want until you have to sue and put all your studio money on the line". So even if they backtrack completely, the harm is done. Using Unity at a professional level is now seen as using those "auto-destruct" weapons in the 5th element (you should watch it if you didn't already, great movie). Even if the tool is awesome, the decision-makers are literally unqualified monkeys.

BUT
1- it's not a problem for Lucid Lust, even if Unity were to enforce anything stupid like "100 downloads then a fee per download" I could make EASY counters to that haha.
2- Lucid Lust is 100% a solo project of mine and has nothing to do with the studio I work for.
3- I put 100% of my free time (after my day job and my family time) into this project. If I really don't manage to find a Unity dev job in the next 3 months, I will only have more free time to work on Lucid Lust since I will be jobless lmao.

For real though, those are some depressing times for me haha. Have a great week everyone!

A lot of devs are switching to Godot from what I saw. Apparently it's a good engine and they're making aalot of tutos for devs migrating from Unity

I knew it. It is always the 1-2 million polygon DAZ hair (especially the ones made with hair particles) that drags down the GPU performance in these 3D sex games. Maybe you could implement LOD in the hair geometry which is tied to the quality setting or something like that, I dunno.

Sorry if this has been asked and answered already but will this be compatible with Daz3D as in like a bridge between the 2 to export figures ? Like the Genesis 8/8.1 and 9 ? I apologize if it is a stupid question, I'm just getting the hang of 3D and the likes so I was really curious because this does seem like a very promising piece of software. Good luck with your game Dev, once I'll make some money of my own I'll be sure to support your project.

Thanks a lot, char customization is so good, the girls are really pretty.
The only problem I encountered is same as mentioned above - low framerate. I have reasonably powerfull gpu

15+ years ago there was a software called Blender, it was open source and all but professional software did it better. Now in big European game schools, you learn both Maya and Blender together; I can only wish for Godot to achieve this! But as of right now, finding a new engine to learn is not my priority. But thank you for the tip! :D

No, each haircut is under 100k tris, it's not the models (I never just "import" anything, everything is being thoroughly reworked for the project). Even if I had hair-card haircuts the problem would be about the same, it's as I said, my shader, and to be more precise: how my shader creates and treats the hair transparency. But as I also said, I'm going to make 2 other downgraded shaders so people will be able to select the hair quality (and the low quality will simply not have any transparency).

No, you will not even be able to export 3D models from Lucid Lust, that is not the goal of the project. The goal is an all-in-one solution for both players and creators, to create/share/play custom-made real-time 3D scenarios! :)

The version number (0.0.92) should have got you thinking and raise your suspicions haha.

I'm finalizing the Female Creator and preparing for v0.1, and the Male Creator should launch its alpha in October in v0.1.1 (and v0.1 will then be made public with a trailer)!

Do you plan making pose-animation editor?
It's on the v1.0 poll propositions list, among many other propositions. So, yes, it will more than certainly be done, but far later down the line.

What I have made to conclude this fully functional Lucid Lust's first creator:

BETTER SKIN
  • Added optional skin roughness

  • Made new options to select the roughness map + roughness level

  • Cleaned already existing skins

You can now pick roughness maps independently from the actual skin textures, meaning you can put young/old/scary roughness maps on top of the skin. I will make a lot more maps in the future, for now, they are pretty basic (2 natural ones + the 2 same but with some face wrinkles); this will definitely give you more creative freedom + you will be able to make convincing older people.

BETTER OPTIMIZATION
  • Added a hair quality option in the graphics settings

This way you will be able to get a far better framerate if you ever need it, you can take a look at the infographic/comparison chart I made below to see the difference in the new hair rendering qualities.

The skin roughness you've mentioned will be on the body itself? Your screenshots show only the face, so I'm wondering if the rest of the body will apply.

Also will iris designs/variations be added in a future?

From now on, updates will come in a Public and a Supporter version! The Public one will be the Girl Creator only (up to date) while the supporter version will have the Male Creator and other upcoming modes.

This version here has only the char creator, correct?
The Public version has only the Girl Creator while the Supporter version has both Girls and Males. And yes, the other modes are coming later down the line, you can read that in "Developer Note" in the OP! :D

Also, the biggest thing about v0.1.1 is the Lucid Girl's Adaptative Animation and Collision System finally going public! Can't wait for everyone to try this!

There is even eyeballs customization and veins amount haha!
